I thought he was class for us.
Giggles
14-04-2023, 07:47 PM
He was far better for us on average than Robben was. Absolutely bossed the 04/05 season including the Barcelona tie we won.
I know he was better, but not as celebrated and remembered.
Lisandro Martinez somehow fractured his foot. How bizarre.
How bizarre, how bizarre.
Sir Andy Mahowry

Villa have started really brightly. Watkins is a nuisance.

Targett and Almiron on at HT and drop Joe back into midfield.
Offshore Toon
15-04-2023, 12:23 PM
Thought Burn was off at the end then. McGinn has got to him and he offers nothing going forward anyway so Targett on as a minimum and the scouse rat ain't handling the heat either so hook him too.

Didn't realise how close to 4th Villa are. They've got the momentum to pull it off.
Sir Andy Mahowry
15-04-2023, 01:07 PM
I don't think there's enough games for them to pull it off.
If they had another 2 they'd take it.
Sir Andy Mahowry
15-04-2023, 01:13 PM
Ollie Watkins has been brilliant today.
Bruv no one gives a fuck about top 4, get on them to win the league next season, they're right up there with City and Arsenal since he came in and the core of the team is ripe for it.

Chelsea being nearly 2/1 at home to beat Brighton. The Potter effect
I think you'll find that's the Mitoma effect. Fucking Messi-esque.
Waffdon
15-04-2023, 02:35 PM
Him against Chalobah is the biggest gulf in class I have seen at any level. It’s not fair.
Brighton losing 1-0 is hilarious. They have absolutely dominated Chelsea all game long, the latter are all over the place.
25 years old ffs, where tf has he been?

Brighton finally score. Should go on and score 3 or 4 here.
De Zerbi ball is what we all deserve after putting up with decades of having to watch smaller sides park buses as instructed by whatever fucking gammon was in charge at the time.

Kepa beaten from outside the box again
The most one sided game in a long time, this. The two teams are so far apart. Chelsea don’t have the magic 40 points yet, I doubt they win another game again this season in the league so a few draws are needed.
I love watching this Brighton team.
2-1 down, Mount on as the last sub. Potter lives on.
Dundee United are trying not to be relegated.
Dyche taking Everton down would be excellent.
Villa still with a chance of 4th here if Newcastle completely shit the bed because clearly Spurs don’t want it.

I could see Leicester getting above them as their next few games are more kind to them. I think Southampton are now into miracle territory. Forest have that tough run in too.
As mentioned before by now you'd normally be getting into games against teams who have nothing to play for. There really aren't many of those around right now.

I simply cannot accept both Luton and Millwall making the playoffs. It's not 1986.
Three points between Millwall in 5th and Preston in 11th, three games to go. Madness even by the Championship's standards.
wullie
20-04-2023, 08:04 AM
Looking at the teams above us, Millwall's next two games being aways at Blackpool and Wigan means they ought to be safe really, West Brom have tricky ones with Sunderland, Norwich and trip to Sheffield Utd in between, Blackburn (who conceded a contentious late goal to our goalkeeper) have got Preston, Burnley, Luton and Millwall so I'm hoping for a few slips.
We've got two home games in the next week against Reading and Brum before going to Middlesbrough so if we're not at least still in it going into the last day we can only blame ourselves.

 solid duo them.
The mental fragility of these cunts. Fatboy Favela's legs have clearly gone and next year will be fun when they rely on him. Fatboy Shaw comes on and prefers to focus on charging opponents rather than playing the ball. Circus Act Antony being his usual highly potent force. I love this game.

It's possible but I think it's highly unlikely.
Newcastle could beat them to third. Then you've got Spurs who will bottle harder with Villa and Brighton fighting for 4th and I just can't see them doing it with so few games left.
Brighton v United on May 4th could be massive. I think that's what will decide it.

It's just more evidence - as if any were needed - that the depth beyond the first eleven is absolute wank. Also that De Gea needs to go, but he won't this summer because a centre forward and midfielder are more urgent priorities and there won't be money left for a keeper.

To be fair to Jose, and I'm no fan, it did seem to be mainly that 'players don't like being told negative things these days' was a major criticism levelled at him. Then you see that clip of him telling Dele Alli to sort himself out before his career vanishes and he's been proven right. Everyone lolled at him saying his league finish with United was an achievement but they've not done much else since.

If players weren't absolute flanges these days there'd probably still be a place for him at a top top club, but as it is Roma's probably about his level. Which actually probably means he's over qualified to return to Chelsea at the moment, so bring it on.

They said on a pre match podcast the difference is City fans are moaning they have to play Laporte due to injuries meanwhile Arsenal have to play Holding. That's the gulf in quality in terms of squad depth, and it has come home to roost in the last three games. Partey has been dogshit too.

Arsenal aren't so much bottling this, as simply running out of the outrageous good fortune that got them to this point. It was never going to last but they are still on to get near 90 points which is mad. They'll also get one in lieu when City are stripped of all their titles. It will be interesting to see which way they go from this [likely] disappointment. Not sure I really see them kicking on in all honesty, but then I thought Liverpool would suffer after the season they went close.
