Any other thoughts? I think there could be a surprise breakout team into the top 3-5, if the stars align for a particular club vis a vis not having many World Cup callups or being saddled with horrible fixture congestion either side. Brentford or Brighton might be candidates for this if they can score enough goals.

Will your manager last the season? Probably, but far from certain
Outlandish prediction Connor Gallagher to be on the young player of the year shortlist
Any other thoughts? I don't think we'll be that good this year. Massive transitions behind the scenes, chaotic transfer policy, think our goalkeepers are all shit and there isn't anyone prolific at the club. Our best hope is if Raheem somehow avoids the operating table and becomes a marksman of sorts.

Will your manager last the season? As long as they're not in the top half when Ten Hag gets sacked
Outlandish prediction Caicedo will be the subject of £50 million bids this time next year
Any other thoughts? Kacper Kozlowski, Kaoru Mitoma, Denis Undav. Who on earth are these people? I don't know but they're in the first team squad. It's very FM save in 2035 (and you've edited all your scouts stats up to 20).

Outlandish prediction: Leicester will hit the wall this year. Rodgers will end up sacked at some point as he only ever has one plan.
Any other thoughts? Wolves and Everton signing nobody of note will see them mix it up with Leeds for that final spot to go down. United and Chelsea will need the season after drastic change since the end of last year.
City and Liverpool will both have to deal with adapting to a proper striker type in the middle. I think Liverpool will just edge that battle. Salah also missing the world cup could be the difference. He really fell off after AFCON last season.

Will your manager last the season? Unless he dies, yes.
Outlandish prediction: The world cup will cause havoc with the League Cup fixtures. As such a team outside of the established top 6 has it's best chance of winning it. Liverpool will default back to not caring about the cups this season for the same reason.
Any other thoughts? We really need to get signing another creative central midfielder type.

I fancy Leicester to have a good season if they can keep the defence fit. As Jimmy said there are going to be teams that just play loads more minutes than the rest, and Leicester have no European games and barely anyone of note going to the world cup. Just Tielemans I think? And that man would be quite happy sustaining 10mph all year round anyway.
Salah also missing the world cup could be the difference. He really fell off after AFCON last season.
I think that was more a case of downing tools until his contract got sorted rather than fatigue or pouting about Egypt losing.
Gray Fox
03-08-2022, 01:02 PM
I think it was more him being knackered to be honest. He's one of those Klopp just refuses to rest at all. Sometimes to his detriment.
Leicester must be in some deep shit, not a single signing, talk of financial problems, lot of late interest around key players and loss of Kasper. They have too much quality to get into a relegation fight but it's looking pretty grim.
My mate is a Leicester fan and apparently it's wages that are killing them. As a percentage of revenue, the wage bill is obscene, which is why they're letting Schmeichel go.
Max Power
03-08-2022, 01:39 PM
Yeah 90% by all accounts. Think the plan was to sell Tielemans early in the window and then shift deadwood later on and bring a couple of bodies in but no one has bid for him.
Squad is still more than good enough to be comfortably top half. Won’t be sellling Maddison or Fofana this summer either.

Outlandish prediction: 5th is ambitious but with Wilson playing more than 30 games or us bringing in another quality striker, I can see us challenging for CL.
Any other thoughts? I really enjoy the idea of Newcastle do well and seeing how much hope has rushed back into the club, but I'm still not massively excited myself. I'm not 100% planning on watching on Saturday but we'll see how it goes.

YOUR TEAM
League Position: I optimistically went for 6th above so 6th I guess
Best player: From what snippets I've seen of pre-season it looks like Sancho has been quite sharp I think so maybe him if he puts it together under ten Hag. Or if Ronaldo fucks off maybe it'll be back to Fernandes dragging us along by the scruff of the neck.
Worst player: In pre-season the attack has seemed a little more cohesive but some proper garbage defending still so I assume somebody at the back will cop for this one. Probably whoever gets the nod at right back.
Unsung hero: I think Fred is basically my favourite United player currently, bless him, so I'll say him.
Best signing:For sheer value for money Eriksen probably won't have much to do to take this but if Wee Lizzy Martinez does enough to keep our other collection of mongs out of the centre of defence then it'll probably have been him. As low a bar as that is. Of course it's always possible our central midfield is so bad we call up Tom Huddlestone from player-coaching in the youth setup.
Worst signing: Malacia has the whiff of a pointless signing about him to me but I say this having never seen him play and just seeing him as a sign of our lol-looking transfer policy this summer.
Will your manager last the season? Yeah
Outlandish prediction Ronaldo is a cunt. That's not a prediction but I haven't said it anywhere else.
Any other thoughts? There is probably enough in the squad that if ten Hag can actually get them all together and hit the ground running we could perhaps make an actual challenge for 3rd or 4th but it relies on a lot of things coming together and some of the overpaid malcontents in the squad getting on side.
Jimmy Floyd
04-08-2022, 09:01 PM
I was thinking about Ronaldo while driving between Chertsey and Ashtead the other night, a journey featuring various non-league sides en route. More precisely, I was thinking: why would any team sign somebody who is quite nakedly motivated solely by personal milestones, while also demanding top dollar? Every single football club in the world, including Chertsey Town, can be filed into one of two camps: 'Can't Afford Ronaldo' or 'Doesn't Want Ronaldo'. That can't have been the case for many players in football history. Maybe late career Roy Keane?
His presence at the WC in December is probably going to hold a ridiculously talented Portugal side back too.
Bit of a sad end to his career, really. Sporting on a reduced wage probably his only ‘top level’ option now, other than staying at United with burnt bridges.
Lewis

They should get rid of him now for being a fanny, but it was still a good signing last summer.
