I like the idea of Sunderland, but I think a Premier League / La Liga team will be easier to sell.

Something like Son to Barcelona, or Neymar to Tottenham... actually, they are probably too mainstream, and would be hard to claim to have started them.

If there's a bullshit football conversation among try-hards going on, I'll drop in one of my go-to fictional talents (Jens Schmidt of Werder Bremen, Pedro Bravo of Getafe, or Djemba Traoré of various French clubs according to my mood) and say I've heard they're off to Spurs. Almost never fails. Once had someone google Pedro Bravo in front of me and I kept it going for ages saying Wikipedia was unreliable.

Me and my mate made a pretend bosko balaban twitter account years ago, and got thousands of Malaysian people following, despite balaban being spelled as balabam on the profile. Occasionally tweeted things like "so sad maybe I transfer to crawly town :( ", so maybe that's the best option - make a vaguely successful parody account and start speculating on your own future. At the very least we goaded the actual bosko to make an account just to tell us to fuck off, fair play.

We also used to just phone up the sports desks of newspapers with rumours, usually relating to bosko balaban, and usually they'd just tell us to fuck off.
