'Ello West 'Am.
I don't think I've ever seen a Leeds side display less attacking prowess than this current incarnation. Just absolutely no plan whatsoever going forward. We may have plugged the hole at the back to some extent but this is just ugly, directionless, awful football. I've said it before and will say it again - we should have gone down with Marcelo.

Relegation battles
When Lerner gave up and we were complete toilet for five years I was looking forward to an inevitable relegation. When it came it was relatively painless as we were a complete joke and down in about January. But the one two years ago having just come back up was excruciating. The Championship was great, but we’re finally moving forward and that would’ve been a huge setback. Guessing Leeds feel the same, but probably magnified as they were down for 16 (?) years.
I hope you stay up anyway. It’s still fresh having Leeds in the Prem and Leeds/Villa has some good needle.

Injuries have obviously hindered Arsenal, but, at the end of the day, they have too many bang average players to be thinking about being in the Champions League, without any real talismanic figures to pull them into it. Spurs probably not an awful lot better, but Kane and Son shoulder a burden of work that Saka et al can't really match.
Having to play the likes of Cedric and Elneny a major red flag.

Tierney is good but can’t stay fit. Tomiyasu is quality but constantly rushed back from injury because the backup is awful. Partey Takes 800 matches to regain match fitness. Ødegaard is good but needs the team to work for him to work. We literally won’t have a single striker next year. Both defenders are good and Saliba just won Ligue 1 player of the season. Is a matter of turning an 11 man squad into a 19.

This is just wrong. Team was expected to finish 7-8th this year and will finish a point off 5th. Youngest team in the league by an average of 2 years. Don’t see how that constitutes bottling it.

Odegaard had his moments too. (as Phonics has said. I should've got this post up instead of switching tabs for ten minutes) Spurs have way more to offer, though. Kane and Son are dependable, Kulusevski's improved the midfield, too. And they have Bergwijn to come off the bench. Forever. :(

It's the manner of it. They go through periods of being able to dismantle teams like Chelsea, showing the quality is there, and then take 0 points from 3 games against Southampton, Brighton and Palace or whatever it was. Absolute shambles.
You'd have taken 5th at the start of the season, but in reality they should have finished top 4, and would have if they didn't have numerous periods of playing like a side who should be relegated.

Nobody had them on for 5th at the start of the season, more like 8th or 9th. Bottom half was talked about after the first three games. It's a squad with great potential, just no depth at all.
Browning
16-05-2022, 09:18 PM
The point is they are going to miss out by 2 points, despite having the awful spell at the start of the season and that diabolical 3 game spell not long ago, plus the past 2 games where they've played like absolute shite. Maybe they've over achieved based on pre-season expectations but there's no chance they should have missed out from the position they got themselves into, and the only reason they have is because they keep having these spells of 3-4 games where they just don't bother to turn up.
The squad definitely needs strengthening, there's no argument there, but it's just ridiculously frustrating to see them slip up so badly so many times and still be so close.
Shindig
16-05-2022, 09:20 PM
As for the inconsistency, everyone around them has thrown some in. Conte spent chunks of the season looking like a man one phone call from death, West Ham eventually settled for a much more sensible position, United are a complete shambles and Chelsea have struggled to put sides away. Outside of the top two, it's up for grabs.

I'd hardly call it a defence, more just an easy way to bait you.
A team of pure frauds that were tipped to finish 8th and finished above a United team that reinforced with a load of megastars :sorry:
The main issue is the lack of depth outside the first choice 11. Striker is a problem regardless but they were getting around that until injuries had them drafting in El Neny, Cedric and Tavares in key positions. Turns out when four of your players are nowhere near good enough it drags the team down somewhat. Never mind the likes of Pepe etc.
I genuinely believe if decent strikers are signed, and maybe a first choice midfielder to replace Xhaka (finally!) Then next season will be a lot better, but it is contingent on having a bench that isn't 'kids and people we want to leave'.

Liverpool spent what Arsenal paid for 6 players on 2 players. Such a fraudulent stat. The team was dead and full of absolute guff on 200k a week. This year was about removing said guff on free transfers because they were so overpaid and re-upping the squad.

When United were good I think the only game I went in to knowing they would lose was the 2011 Champions' League final. Why do Liverpool fans carry on like they're doomed whenever a couple of their ten ace players get a day off?
Because we spent 20 years of United winning everything in sight as well as lolling at us on the very few occasions when we did have a team that was even remotely close. Then whenever we did seem to have a decent team things would implode the following season 01/02, 08/09 and 13/14 were all followed by us being absolutely dogshit the following season.
Fam, don't compare this Klopp side to that other shit.
Konate looked like a beast but also one capable of dozing off a few months, if not weeks ago. It's taken the Nazi less than a season to turn him into peak VVD and fortify our position at the top of the game for the next 10 years. Frightening.

Have noticed a lot of their fans are wearing orange and was wondering is that straight sectarianism or a clever nod to Seville's eponymous fruit?

Yeah, kind of. I’m a white straight male so I can only speak of my experience in the HIV community where we interviewed someone about reaching out to community healthcare workers and the support they provide and I got a text asking to take it down because the poor kid was literally being chased out of his village in Kenya for being gay. And in that same vain, all you’ll rally against it studies show that the whole pronouns in your bio thing increases people who feel under attack the comfort level to reach out to those people because they don’t fear they’ll be attacked or mocked by those people who are ‘virtue signalling’.
It’s a fucking hard life. Any support you can show them is more than fucking deserved.
Thanks for the tip. I wasn’t going to bother first, but that seems easy enough.

The pride stuff will get a big backlash in the next however many years, which will have deleterious effects on some of the progress made. All our favourite corporate entities use it as a convenient outlet for PR lip service on a subject they don't give a fuck about, while homophobes/'conservative commentators' also use it as a convenient outlet for slagging off the shirtlifters, which they now find themselves unable to do directly. Said commentators think it's meaningless because it means nothing to them.
