Seems a bit odd. :cab:

That’ll be the Donald and all back to it now. And hopefully an edit button.

Pre-Tesla his whole career was taking over failing brands and making them profitable. Buying Twitter makes sense from that perspective. Especially as he's a fond user.

No idea how Twitter are making a loss each year at the moment.

Elon Musk is the most cringe man alive, but people seem weirdly enraged by this takeover so lol good for him.

Both his followers and his detractors are basically both cults at this point.

Surprised there wasn't a link with a 10,000 word study accompanying that reply.

Don't use it so don't care.

Why I don't use Twitter, a thread...

And to clarify why I think it's crap (while I actively use it) is the deep underlayer of misinformation, trolls and racist bile that influences and reinforces shitty opinions. There's a reason why places like Gab is a hate filled shitpit because free speech just ends up being 4chan.

I agree completely that it's a dreadful, dreadful platform. Musk would be doing a solid for mankind if he just shut it and spent the rest of his days buying up and burning any imitations that popped up in its place.

I deleted all my social media in January mainly because of Twitter. I’d just get angry at shit every time I opened it/them. Coincidentally that gave me some extra free time which I utilised to search for Albanian Mafia and end up back here via Baz’s DMs.

How do people manage to see things they don’t want to on Twitter?

Retweeted/liked into your timeline by people you follow for other reasons.

You can still build yourself a nice little lol chamber. Like Facebook, it's as good as you want it to be.

I can understand a couple of occasions but if an account is retweeting shite but you just unfollow it at that stage. Problem solved, very easily too.

It's always good to go into the comments on anything Sadiq khan posts.

I think it's actually quite healthy to have different people in your timeline. Some are in total echo chambers and never hear the opposition. I also enjoy following the odd person who gives a little window into twitter microspheres, e.g. on my timeline I get Sri Lankan twitter kicking off at 6am every morning, beaten down UK police twitter at lunchtime, sanctimonious/half-cut journo twitter in the afternoon, and about this time of night it's American golf twitter which starts to get tasty.

Most new accounts are people who've just been banned so he might not want to go too mad with the free speech.

I follow some rugby stuff, lol accounts, some history and military stuff, a load of cartoon avatar racists, and Jamie Carragher. Whatever political wank I see I see through their curation and I trust them to keep the crap out of my life.

I don't really take either seriously enough to manage them. I give it like 5 minutes a day unless I'm in the office. Then it's no attention whatsoever.
