I'm definitely leaning complete disaster and continuing lolfest fwiw.

It was only really David Moyes who was disastrous from start to finish. The others took a couple of seasons to get there.

Huge success would be staying in post for 3 seasons.
Potential for the full hinterland excursion if Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal can get their acts together going forward. Probably a remote possibility.

I think his Flavour of the Monthness is potentially a big asset dealing with all of the cunty players. They can't moan about outdated methods and what have you, or say that he's a speccy/nineties gimp with no trophies, so what can they blame being shit on?
Pogba and Ronaldo need to go because they'll have no qualms undermining him from day one.
randomlegend
12-04-2022, 06:53 PM
He "feels" like the best option of those available (based on basically nothing) and I'm cautiously optimistic the changes to the structure will make some difference, but who knows really.
Edit: Pogba is out of contract, he's gone. Finding a suitor for Ronaldo seems unlikely.
Lewis

Ronaldo, subbed off after seventy minutes of the opening day 5-0 win, gives him a subtle head rub and it all caves in.

I know it is to be expected, but going off the bit on the BBC about this United fans seem to be getting a bit giddy about this business.
He will be the first boss since Sir Alex Ferguson that other clubs will be genuinely fearful of
:happycry:
On what basis? Is he going to sign Dusan Tadic and Sebastien Haller and start tearing up the Premier League? Apart from mugging off Real Madrid a few seasons ago in the Champions League exactly what have Ajax done under him? They were pretty shite against Liverpool in the Champions League whilst Liverpool were going through their No Virgil paroxysm.
Feels more of a Brendan Rodgers move than a Jurgen Klopp one, in terms of comparisons. Not saying it can't or won't work [after all, Bodgers did nearly reach the top of the mountain], but I don't think anyone is going to be fearing United now they have some bald lunatic from the low countries in charge.

Seriously struggling to see how Ten Hag is an improvement tbh.
The media have made him a fashionable name so he's got himself a bit of an unwarranted pedestal now. A couple of early defeats and there's only one way it's going.

To be fair to Ten Hag they are absolutely rolling the eredivisie nowadays in a way they haven’t for a decade. Looking at the table and seeing Scored 85 Conceded 15 is good shit considering PSV have a way higher salary budget than they do.

His Champions League run with Ajax was impressive, both in terms of performances and results (despite how it ended). Unreasonable to expect the same the next season after De Ligt and De Jong were both sold. Obviously it's very difficult to judge a player or manager on their performance in the League in Holland but his team play good attacking football. PSV also spend as much as they do.
He was tipped for big things from his time at Utrecht by all accounts.
I'm much more positive about his appointment than anyone else since Ferguson retired. Regardless of who comes in though, there's a big rebuilding job needed and it's going to take a while before there's any hope of challenging again.
I disagree with the idea a couple of early losses will doom him. If there's one thing United do - sometimes to a fault - it's give managers time. The fans as well.
I'm not sure who would've been an objectively better appointment. Pochettino has equally big question marks over him. Enrique wouldn't come until after the World Cup which would write off another season from the get go. Conte would absolutely not work with the board. Who else?
niko_cee

How does that work? (https://www.capology.com/ne/eredivisie/salaries/)

Probably worse, an outside the stadium comment [I don't know]. Think it was probably an online comment.
Who was that Brazilian forward Ajax had in recent times? Not Antony, I don't think. David Neres? What happened to him?
Potter, as one of the best managerial prospects in the game shits on this bald nobody but I assume England will come calling for him as his next job.

I heard the Potter thing about England the other day [ie him being the future on that front] but then though, isn't he older than Southgate?
Potter, being back in favour again after that long [ish] winless/goalless run, would be an interesting appointment, but would very much herald the need for a multi-year overhaul of things, and wouldn't lend itself to dreams of 70s style total football being the order of the day next season.

On 11 January 2022 it was reported that Neres was sold to Ukrainian Premier League side Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported fee of €15 million, which can potentially run up to €17 million with bonuses.[13][14] On 14 January, Ajax confirmed that the transfer had been completed.[15] On 24 February 2022 following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, a video was shared online of various Brazilian footballers pleading for help from the Brazilian government to help them flee the country.[16] On 1 March 2022 it was reported that the Brazilian players had successfully made it to Romania, from where they travelled home. UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin was personally involved in helping to facilitate the return to safety.[17]

He'll be as good or as shit as the recruitment. If Phil Jones and Juan Mata are still there next season then write it off.
Bart Vriends was on FiveLive earlier saying Ten Hag was the greatest manager he's ever worked with which is a pretty big statement. Also offered some shite story about him reorganising the drinks or some shit to show he means business. Yeah but does he have the balls to ban the Colman's.

Telegraph Sport revealed how United had initially pushed back on Ten Hag’s request to bring in the former England manager [Steve] McClaren in the days leading up to the official appointment of the 52-year-old Dutchman as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term successor.
Instead, Ten Hag was asked by United to look at the existing staff first before making any major decisions.
However, it is now understood that McClaren - who was Sir Alex Ferguson’s No 2 when United won a historic treble of Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup in 1999 - will be appointed as one of two new assistants along with Mitchell van der Gaag, Ten Hag’s current assistant at Ajax.

I heard an interview with Rangnick yesterday, where he basically admitted that he wasn't involved in the ten Hag decision, and that he had only spoken to him once.
Wasn't the whole point of Rangnick that he was going to coach for 6 months, then step "upstairs" and rebuild the structure, be the DoF and start thinking a little more long term.
