Been an ok start to the season though, got thumped in the first two games!

Not a bad start to my campaign as the manager of Wales. I was seething when we conceded that third against Montenegro but it all turned to joy when Cullen got his hattrick.

Right, here's a snapshot of the players who got a game:
http://i.imgur.com/0jFXCSC.png
Santos are dicks, they wanted £2m for Luiz Carlos at the start of the season and now they want at least £10m. He was by far our most dangerous player despite Diatta's goalscoring exploits. Sariev getting 12 assists from crosses despite his 7 for crossing is a hero, he was always whipping in deadly balls.
Fixtures:

http://i.imgur.com/Dq8OWqT.png
Right, firstly let me just say fuck you Okzhetpes. They were my bogey team, we could beat anyone or at least look like beating everyone bar them. I'm so glad I didn't have them in the cup as we'd have dropped that, it was so fucking sweet beating them near the end of the season though. We were 2-1 down and had a man sent off after 15 minutes but we just kept throwing everything at them.
I was a little surprised to see Khyzyzyzyzyzyz or whatever in the cup final as they're a poor side in the league below so that was easy enough.
Here is what the league looked like after the first stage:
http://i.imgur.com/PaingC1.png
Us and the champions for the last few years were just constantly trading places, however in the final stage:
http://i.imgur.com/agPojof.png
We walked it as Kairat just seemed to lose all momentum failing to win their first 8 matches. Astana tried to keep up with us but we were on fire in the final stage by winning 9 of our 10 games only failing to beat our bogey team despite outplaying them.
Oh and here is the only non-Kazakh I signed during the midseason:
http://i.imgur.com/Xm9ALk9.png
Only £275k, I didn't need him as I had Diatta who was on fire, Luiz Carlos who could play there, two other foreign youths and about 20 Kazakhs. Still, I couldn't say no for the price with my scouts raving about him.
Well I didn't expect this having won the second division last year, I knew we'd do well but I didn't expect us to win it. I was hoping to sneak a 4th place to get into the Europa but a league and cup double with Champions League football? Fucking awesome.
I'll stay a season to try and ruffle some feathers in the Champions League/Europa and then probably try to find a club that can win a continental competition.

I'm on a £1.3k p/w deal for 1 year...
Found this young player, I made a bid of 3.9m and they rejected. I asked them to suggest terms and they came back with this.

Only 2 transfers in for me:
http://i.imgur.com/w3T7N2z.png
A snip at £500k, my scouts have him at just below Amadou Diatta currently but with a very high potential. I also trained him as an AMR so I can play him as an inside forward just to get him some extra games.
http://i.imgur.com/aWsAw4f.png
The big one, I saw that he was interested and was going to take him on loan but Barca came in with a £3m bid. I couldn't afford it upfront so I managed to do a deal at £1.5m upfront and £2.5m over 48 months and went a bit mental on his contract to secure him. He's already better than my other midfield options though and as Barca were sniffing he must have a lot of potential.

In Kazakhstan we only lost 3 games all season 2-1 away to Astana in the first stage of the league, 1-0 away to Astana in the first leg of the cup semi final and 2-0 to Aktobe away in the first stage. We also drew two games, 1-1 against Shakter K away in the first stage and a 0-0 with Astana at home in the first stage. We won all of our final stage matches despite me shaking it up a lot to keep our better players fresher for Europe.
http://i.imgur.com/8QH61zk.png
I was buzzing when we got Ludogrets but I underestimated them and they lolled us out which still hurts. The group we got in the Europa was about the hardest we could have gotten. We were unlucky in the first game as we were pushing Hoffenheim hard for an equaliser but they scored twice in injury time and the 6-1 was devastating as we went 1-0 up and had a man sent off after 15 minutes but just crumbled. Not a bad outing but it could and should have been more.
I leave Ordabasy winning the second division of Kazakh football, two first division titles and two cups. Plus a couple extra badges and a crack at Europe.
Man United decided not to even interview me after sacking Roberto Martinez and instead hired the shit Niko Kovac. As such I'd like to stay in Europe (ideally going to England) and showing them up.
You'd better hope John isn't online. :D
This is Zacharopoulos

I don't need him now, but with stats like that i might have to get him next season and hopefully get some more cash from the board.

Why do your screenshots always look like a VHS tape with awful tracking? They're always fuzzy as fuck.
I already have a new job, it's with Atlanta.
It's been a while since I managed in Italy and they've got a decent bit of money.
The club are 19th at the halfway stage on 16 points, 2 from safety.
I've been given £18m and £130k wage budget free. I'm going to raid Ordabasy a bit for some of the foreigners although Cisse has already been poached by Real Madrid for £800k.
First game is against second placed Inter at home and then reigning champions Juventus away so that should be fun.

What are everybody else's 'non-football costs' - according to the description this is for "non football playing staff".
At the moment it's at £1,450,000 per month... 4th season in the Premier League. That seems fucking huge.
Into the 6th round (that's the quarter-finals, right?) of the FA Cup with Luton. Europa League football while still in the Championship is a possibility.

The squad was pretty decent but low morale and poor tactical familiarity meant it was touch and go but our home form was pretty good.
http://i.imgur.com/sfAhIYR.png
Donning Verona (and it should have been more than 2-0) was by far the best result and a very fucking important one.
Here are the players I took in:
http://i.imgur.com/9l10p9o.png
I wanted a couple from Ordabasy but they wanted a bit too much for Alessandro and everyone else was going/gone other than Ouattara but at that point it was one or the other. This is because the previous manager spent £3m on a 33 year Argie left back. £2.5m but he was loaned right back.
http://i.imgur.com/KmBBOLu.png
£9m which was the biggest transfer I made but he's a tidy little player who is already good enough for Serie A and has a lot of potential.
http://i.imgur.com/8829If5.png
Wim Keur, the name I liked to say more than any other player last season and I did so in a very thick Dutch accent. £6m, he's very raw but has a lot of potential. I imagine that this season I'll try and sort him out with a good loan.
http://i.imgur.com/4T00Kzk.png
He was a loanee but I've also brought him back for this season, despite his age he's actually the second best MC in the squad. Hopefully his stats improve with the amount of games he'll get this coming season.
http://i.imgur.com/EOCBRot.png
Another loanee who is coming back, he's more of an impact sub I chuck on to take advantage of tired legs.
http://i.imgur.com/bGafYG8.png
Another loanee coming back and he's a starter. He was voted the best signing last year and really helped to keep us up, however the battle wouldn't have been so touch and go if he could finish all the chances he gets.
http://i.imgur.com/E6le06v.png
The first of the newbies this season, he's very raw and I'll probably loan him out but the finishing
http://i.imgur.com/FVuKUHY.png
A loanee who will probably get quite a lot of games.
http://i.imgur.com/L3nFWkW.png
My best bit of business this year as he came in on a free. The wages are pretty hefty but he's damn good and only 21.
http://i.imgur.com/3oNJVu2.png
It's only a loan but I'm seriously excited about this guy, I spotted him when he was 15 and he looked bonkers. He hasn't had many games in his career so he doesn't but my word.
Edit: Oh and one more:
http://i.imgur.com/aFf36KJ.png
Loan but I'm paying £325k a month and £9k in wages.

Only two signings in January and here they are:
http://i.imgur.com/dzmakIc.png
The biggest transfer of my career to date in this save at £15.75m. He's already our best CB, has a lot of potential, is a wonderkid and most importantly, is the next Lorenzo Staelens which is clearly exciting news.
http://i.imgur.com/UaNCa5n.png
A knockdown price of £1m, he's been instantly loaned out as he's clearly not good enough to challenge for a spot right now but he has lots of potential according to my coaches and scouts.
http://i.imgur.com/aE1IZi3.png
http://i.imgur.com/PfxkI23.png
Following up the 3-1 beating of Juventus by losing 4-3 to Sassulo was a huge low point as well as the 5-2 loss against Palermo (we were 4-1 down at halftime, I had never seen us just flop so badly) and the early exit in the cup. Here is how we finished:
http://i.imgur.com/Uf9QK8D.png
I knew we'd move along after coming in and stopping the club from being relegated, I thought Europa would be a damn good season but we pushed Juventus hard. The highest points tally from a second placed team in the league since the start was 79 which saw Roma finish second to Juventus on goal difference. Our points tally would have seen us win the title in 4 different seasons (one of them on GD) so we put in a solid fucking effort.
It's just a shame that after beating them and going top we fizzled out.
Here is how the team performed:
http://i.imgur.com/voaItZ7.png
I mixed between Roberts, Stevens and Feinbeier at the striker position all season as all three of them were blowing hot and cold so much. They'd all go from looking like world beaters to Sunday league players every few games.
The club is currently in £11m debt but we're fine in terms of FFP and the club is in talks with a consortium so cash could be coming, although we will have some Champions League football to sort us out.
Edit: Consortium have come in but they're not that wealthy. Bank balance up to £3.5m in the positive.
Damn good result.

First of all, my board bought the stadium, as shown above...but it turns out they took out a loan to do it. Bit annoying.

Mourinho is still at Chelsea so I'm fucking loving that draw and I think we've got a great chance of progressing.
Here are the signings I made in the Summer:
http://i.imgur.com/w6Sku1d.png
£5m, he wont get much game time this season though.
http://i.imgur.com/s4C3aL7.png
Another loan special, I've never seen a midfielder that fucking big before.
http://i.imgur.com/b9U7eXT.png
Another loan, this from Juventus. He'll be a solid backup option.
http://i.imgur.com/RNmwqBU.png
Cost me £7.5m from Chelsea, it's slightly inflated but he has loads of potential and at the very least I'll make money.
I've also re-loaned Tayfun Demir, Angel Vazquez and Jamal Roberts. Sadly Einstabland is wanted for first team football at his club West Ham, I couldn't afford the fee for Cid (it's had to go on Demir) and Liverpool want too much to re-loan Hoffman.
This is ridiculous.

So transfers in during January:
http://i.imgur.com/GTUr8jI.png
One of my old friends from Ordabasy, I've wanted to bring him to Italy since I joined Atlanta but it was always a case of Ordabasy asking for too much or me having signed 2 different non-EU players. His contract ran out at the end of December and I swooped.
http://i.imgur.com/ChmGhQm.png
Another loan deal, I didn't need him but he was one of those newgens that I had spotted years ago and was on my mental 'must manage' list.
http://i.imgur.com/QQdzHeA.png
Much the same as Gokcen, I've wanted to manage him for years and finally Spurs were letting him go out on loan. I had to pay a hefty monthly fee but fuck it, I knew he'd play quite a few games and make an impact.
http://i.imgur.com/hzT56ZU.png
I secured a deal to get him on a free at the end of the season but I decided to pay the £1.6m Panathinaikos wanted to take him that window.
http://i.imgur.com/DDeQYiB.png
http://i.imgur.com/wRodyAm.png
First of all, those draws fucking hell. There were some games were it just seemed that we were destined to draw, at times it was just a case of most games either being we smash the shit out of the opposition for most of the match only to not take our chances and succumb to a draw, or have to fight back to earn a shitty point.
Losing to Sassuolo in the cup was also a shitter.
http://i.imgur.com/ccbtfe7.png
The difference may have only been 2 points but I think that was just the game trying to make me seethe royally at all the dropped points. Juventus were smashing everyone but then wobbled in their final 9 games by only taking 12 points whilst we won 10 of our last 12. The other 2? A 2-2 draw against Udinese where we let a goal lead slip late on before having a man sent off and having to scrape an equaliser and a 0-0 with Roma which we were bossing until Valzania got sent off in the 57th minute.
Europe:
http://i.imgur.com/4X3xs3z.png
I had hope going into it and by fuck were we close. Marseille looked like chumps but won their last 2 against us and Chelsea to take them through. Chelsea conceding an 87th minute goal to Marseille to send us out was fucking horrible.
http://i.imgur.com/WCzjPdN.png
Routine against Plzen in the first knockout round of the Europa but my word did we turn full retard against Arsenal. I hadn't seen one my teams perform this badly since I managed in the South African league with the worst team ever who lost almost every game years ago. It just seemed that every time the ball was in our half the players were falling over each other trying to gift Arsenal a chance.
In terms of next season, we haven't got a pot to piss in and we will need to rely on loan players again.
However, Milan got rid of their manager near the end of the season and I've been made favourite for the job although neither side has made a move. If they come calling it might be hard to turn them down.
Oh, here are the players who made an appearance for the team:
http://i.imgur.com/oUu4Rd3.png
I'd love to get Adam, Vazquez, Demir and Jamal back but I'm not sure it's likely.
Edit: Champions League TV money and a cash injection has taken us from -£11m to £34m, we now have a pot to piss in as well as piss away

I noticed that it was the Olympics in my game and a few months prior to it starting some U23 teams let go of their managers. So I decided to apply for all the jobs.
Instantly Germany, Belgium and Brazil told me to fuck off and I had to choose between Portugal, France or Spain.
I decided to choose Spain as they won it the last time and I liked the look of their players more, including Angel Vazquez who had been on loan at Atlanta for a few seasons.
http://i.imgur.com/iRiTgp9.png
Japan gave us a little scare at the start as we were a bit sloppy by other than that it was fairly routine. I did like that we smashed two of the nations that told me to fuck off.
The final:
http://i.imgur.com/sCUcpO1.png
It was really nervy and just before going down to 10 men one of my defenders let their striker through on goal but he launched his shot right at De Gea.
http://i.imgur.com/0XwXPK2.png
This guy, who Juventus signed for £26m earlier in the Summer (wankers), was fucking brilliant. He scored 9 in the 6 matches but could have had more. I'm not looking forward to playing against him.

I really don't get how Mensah was named the best player in the tournament, he didn't have the best average rating, 4th in goalscoring, joint 4th for assists, only played in half the games and didn't even play in the final.

£18m, my biggest transfer yet. It's hefty and he's not even rated best in the squad at any of the positions he plays in. But we're so lacking in quality backups in defence that I needed a good utility man.
http://i.imgur.com/UdDHyzf.png
£1.7m. He'll play second fiddle to Ivan Buigues who really wasn't up to scratch last season so I needed to find a good prospect.
http://i.imgur.com/vES7wRB.png
I brought him back but by fuck did it cost me, £800k per month but he was cheaper to bring back than Jamal Roberts with Chelsea wanting £1.5m plus all of his £80k wages. I needed one of them back so chose the slightly cheaper but damn effective Vazquez.

The signings:
Well, just as a note a lot of the money spent was over 48 months and I might have panicked in January after not pushing on in the league. Anyway, here they are:
http://i.imgur.com/PJpcVKG.png
My biggest transfer yet at £22.5m (most was 48 months), he's the best youth prospect in Italy and I was seething at my strikers and their lack of goals. So much so that I loaned out three of my strikers (Jan Jaap Stevens who scored 7 goals in 10 starts and 3 sub appearances, Martin Feinbier who scored 4 goals in 12 starts and 3 sub appearances and Paul Mackay Steven who had 2 goals in 4 starts) in the hope that they get their shit together for next year. Judging from their loan spells only Feinbier can be relied upon next year.
http://i.imgur.com/b4wkMkY.png
I sold my 31 year old right back for £6.25m and bought this guy from Rangers for £10m (again most over 48 months) and I'm pretty happy. The output was pretty much similar but this guy obviously has potential.
http://i.imgur.com/lM40KFi.png
I noticed this chap was on a freebie so I swooped in. Not that great but he's home grown and can play in a lot of positions.
http://i.imgur.com/aXVuU9n.png
He only cost me £500k and I've been surprised at how well he's done. The best thing about it was that I didn't have a decent option at AMR other than my best striker (who performed brilliantly at the position) so I was able to mix it up after January.
http://i.imgur.com/CiKKPM0.png
http://i.imgur.com/N2VCoV6.png
We just couldn't really get a good run of form going domestically and again the draws were coming in far too much. The cup was a nice thing though.
http://i.imgur.com/6OhM5zd.png
Juventus finishing 4th is proper lol as was Roma finishing ahead of us but due to having dogshit finances we'll go straight into the group stages again instead of a qualifying round.
http://i.imgur.com/rpyw3ij.png
http://i.imgur.com/ZpWMPNI.png
Getting drawn against Leverkusen was brilliant as they're shit and we beat them twice last year and easily dispatched them this year in the knockouts. The 5-2 loss against Chelsea was mental, Baba Rahman got sent off after 19 minutes whilst they were 1-0 up and I went for when we equalised in the 62nd minute. At that point I decided to play 'overload', with three strikers, an AMC, an AML and an AMR. As such it was end to end and a 31 year old Dybala went mental against our unprotected defence.
In the second leg it was the most boring game known to the game of Football Manager. On key highlights it only showed about 5 things in the whole match happen. We should have won 1-0 but our non-existent attacking force showed themselves up once again.
http://i.imgur.com/560GMbP.png
In the league we scored 11 goals fewer than last year and the defence wasn't that great mainly because Buiges wasn't the wall that he was last year. I think this Summer I'm going to try and sell some of my older players and just chuck some more youth/speed at the thing.

Anyone got any tips for corner routines? I've been kicking it to an unmarked man outside the box but after only scoring 2 from corners all season (despite winning the Championship) it's time I have a rethink.
I'll check goals conceded from corners to see if that needs changing too, later.

Transfers In:
http://i.imgur.com/cAmTbDu.png
A freebie from the US development team, he's easily the best they've produced so I decided to take him.
http://i.imgur.com/v6of0pc.png
A snip at £1m from Inter, he's one of the better Italian youths that have been produced.
http://i.imgur.com/ow5pexo.png
Here's another, although he's a bit further along. The price tag was £22m (most over 48 months) but he's got something about him and will replace Valzania who I sold this Summer.
http://i.imgur.com/P7Mo805.png
He was on loan with us a couple of seasons ago and I decided to bring him back, £115k loan fee a month.
http://i.imgur.com/6BecFWc.png
He's pretty damn raw but he was only £500k and my scouts were raving about him, plus I needed some defensive backups.
http://i.imgur.com/6gD3NCr.png
A loan with no extra fees, he'll play mainly at left back for me but he could do a job anywhere.
http://i.imgur.com/MKL6B1w.png
£17.5m (most over 48 months) which is a bit of a shitter but he's got a lot of potential and came from AC Milan who obviously overcharged as we're rivals.
http://i.imgur.com/VlY74LZ.png
I tried to buy him a few times from Lokomotiv Moscow but they kept asking for too much, my eyes were looking at others or I had run out on foreign transfers. Monaco swooped to get him for £6m a few seasons ago, as I couldn't bring Vazquez back I went in for Domrin on loan. Only £56k a month loan fee.
http://i.imgur.com/mmLceEU.png
Another loan, £120k a month. He'll slide in as a starting CB.
http://i.imgur.com/s6ZDzPO.png
http://i.imgur.com/d1w7lUD.png
The above two are coming in on loan for no fee and they'll provide some depth.
I've also re-loaned Mick Brown and Gokcen Oguz.
And now the big one:
http://i.imgur.com/5olvwk8.png
The beast is back, he spent two years on loan here, smashed it up and the fans loved him. Chelsea just wouldn't play him but wouldn't loan him back to us last season or this season so I tried to work out a mega deal and by fuck I did it.
I had decided to sell my starting left back but I wanted £40m for him but Arsenal would only ever go as high as £33.5m. Chelsea were interested in him so after a lot of back and forth negotiations we finally agreed on £15m up front with £20m over 48 months and my left back. I think that's my first ever part exchange deal and what a fucking deal it was. The kid is by far the best prospect in the game that I've seen and we need help with goals.
Transfers out:
http://i.imgur.com/yBZUOVq.png
He was my starting MC since I joined the club but I decided to cash in as I bought Saraco. £12.75m which is a little low but a 50% next sale is in there.
http://i.imgur.com/ErtlC4o.png
This one hurt me, Capone is brilliant who got us out of the shit so many times but the finances were right at £26m with 50% next sale so I bit.
http://i.imgur.com/YRPZziW.png
My previous starting CB, he's been a bit wobbly and not getting any younger so out he went for £3.1m.
http://i.imgur.com/JENYRC2.png
A youth we produced that never kicked on, £3.2m plus 50%.
http://i.imgur.com/7z1l2I7.png
The starting left back who left on an exchange, the geezer is class but I needed to make the deal.
I've also loaned out Jan Jaap Stevens and Paul Mackay Steven again as they just can't reliably score goals and I want them to impress so I can look to sell them next year.

Only one transfer in during January and here he is:
http://i.imgur.com/mbyQcfF.png
I've been after him for a while and noticed his contract was expiring at Barcelona, I secured him and then decided to take him this year as they were only asking for £3.1m.
http://i.imgur.com/Kr5XNqF.png
http://i.imgur.com/MB7m50q.png
A few blips along the way but we started really well and just kept as much pressure as we could. Losing in the Italian cup was shit but I was using a very weakened side.
http://i.imgur.com/iUajCUA.png
Our start was just far too good, we hit first on our fourth game, dipped to second after our sixth (on goal difference) then re-took first on matchday 8 and kept it until the end. The league is so tight that I knew it wouldn't take a huge effort to really blow past the rest and that's what happened. Jamal Roberts really was the deciding factor, well him and Yori.
http://i.imgur.com/6zlZfgO.png
http://i.imgur.com/qCWeHsR.png
The group went so fucking well, dicking on Man City and Barca at home was just perfect but then we turned to shit in the knockouts against fucking Grasshoppers of all teams. Seething doesn't even cover it, we got the worst team that finished top in their group (Arsenal came in second, Dortmund in third and Villarreal in 4th :cab:) and we turned to shit.
http://i.imgur.com/waGjxbO.png
Our front four of Anastopoulos on the left, Domrin just behind, Yori on the right and Roberts up top is fucking lethal. Sadly I doubt I'll be able to keep Domrin or Anastopoulos so I've been training Yori to go on the left, can plug a decent youth at AMC and have a couple of decent options at AMR.
In terms of outs I think I'll get rid of Dervishi as he's not happy with the amount of game time I give him and Madrid are interested in him, plus I might let Gamal go as he's a liability. In terms of ins, I'll look to some more youth but I need a left back should Man City not let me keep Moses as I've got fuck all there.

Thanks to the Superbowl, I got through pre-season. Here are the transfers:
http://i.imgur.com/KCdJvVk.png
I go back to Chelsea (christ, they seem to have produced a lot of good youths in my game) and snap up this chap for £35m with most of it over 48 months. This will enable Yori to move over to the left.
http://i.imgur.com/XigilTD.png
I've been after him for so damn long but Madrid beat me to him when I was at Ordabasy. It looked dead again this year as they wanted £40m, then the new season clicked over and they wanted half of that. We ended up doing a deal at £20m with a lot of it over 48 months.
http://i.imgur.com/vbZAA0H.png
I could have gotten him for a lot less but I dealt most of it at 48 months ofc, so in he comes for a total of £22.5m.
http://i.imgur.com/p8s69ds.png
This was straight up, I tried to work out a deal with Shaktar but they were being dicks so I ended up meeting his release clause of £22m. I almost cried having to fork out all that money up front but he'll be a killer.
http://i.imgur.com/cJaudys.png
He was on loan with us for the last 3 seasons but Galatasary wanted to sell him and we ended up doing the deal at £12.5m with most over 48 months.
http://i.imgur.com/yuPwqIN.png
We loaned him for 4 seasons but Atletico wouldn't let us loan him back last year, barely played him and he got the hump so this year he wanted to be sold. Ended up doing the deal at £27m with most over 48 months. What was glorious was the media and our fans going mental over the fee and he donned them all by scoring a goal and grabbing an assist on his debut.
With a staggering £139m being spent players needed to leave:
http://i.imgur.com/3E3C5h2.png
I had such high hopes for this chap after buying him for £600k but he never kicked on. Getting £20m and 50% of next sale from Madrid feels like robbery.
http://i.imgur.com/pU33mYC.png
We bought him for £1.6m and was first choice until last season, out he goes for £24m and 50% of next sale.
http://i.imgur.com/I91FfJb.png
Got him in on a free a few years ago and he was supposed to take us to the next level, he never did. I feel like I've been ripped off by only getting £3.7m with 50% of next sale but hopefully he kicks on in the Premiership and Palace sell him for a shit ton.
http://i.imgur.com/dbTNSFi.png
We bought the Egyptian Thug for £18m a couple of seasons ago and when he wasn't letting the red mist take him over he was grand. Bayern took him for a snip at £27m with 50% next sale, if they can stop him from being a nutcase (it doesn't look likely right now, he's played in 10 games and has 7 yellow cards) then they've got a cracking player.
Also had quite a few go out on loans with fees so in total we've raked in £80.11m.
As Juventus were bumped out of Europe for fucking up their financial fair play (seriously, how the fuck?) we were not in pot 3 as I was anticipating, but pot number 1 for the Champions League draw.
Sadly, we got the toughest group we could have gotten in Liverpool, Bayern Munich (Gamal is going to break everyone's legs :() and a gimmie in Red Bull Salzburg.
Champions Leagues Semi-Final draw.

Spending a long time assembling a Luton squad for their first go at the Premier League has been stressful but also very fun. My captain is still from the original League 2 squad too. Good old Mark O'Brien.
Will post a screenshot of my team when they're ready.
Can't decide if Kevin Trapp from PSG is a smart choice in net. My scouts give some four star keepers 'sign whatever the cost' yet he is four and a half with 'a few doubts,' which I don't understand. Scout has 20 for scouting current ability too. The main thing putting me off is Derby are also in for him and they're in the Championship. Already had one player reject me in favour of Championship Leicester so we'll see who Trapp chooses, I guess.

31 games in to my first season as reigning and defending champions, I'm a decent 6pts ahead of Man Utd with everyone else miles away. Not helped by just losing 4-1 at Old Trafford, but helped hugely by them losing their previous four league games as I embark on form that would be good for an outside shot at the Europa League if spaced over a season. Went out of the Champions League after a 1-1 home draw with Milan and then a 4-1 away spanking. Gareth Bale isn't as dazzling as I thought so I'm promoting Ali Coote to first choice and shipping the old man off to Watford.

No more Sheffield United, gone are the foreign victories in Korea and Italy, the rivalry with Cilak that but a distant memory and the rise of Liverpool merely a start of a fictional chapter.
What now?
Wait for the transfer update and go again. Have a rest until then. That's what I'm doing.
I've had two games this year, both of which had an element of specific 'challenge' to them. The first one, which I parked a while ago, is a bit of a short term thing if you do it well. Take a Portuguese minnow and try to out-Porto Porto to make them a powerhouse. Buy low, sell high, etc. I went for Maritimo, but once you're past Braga you could basically pick anyone and you're starting out with an operating budget of about fifty pence.
The second was with Dinamo Zagreb, where I planned to build a side entirely of academy graduates and do something in Europe with them. That one was going superbly well, but I stopped playing the game altogether five seasons in for no real reason so it's on hold for the moment. I might start it back up again tonight, actually.
There are plenty of challenges to be had if you just make your own up.
Why can't you load edit files?
Sir Andy Mahowry
10-02-2016, 10:18 PM
I find that no matter what challenge I come up with, I always end up back in England. I've noticed a tendency to stick with the top four leagues in England, Italy, Germany and Spain, the Spanish being a rare thing because I hate the minimum release clauses.
I was tempted to do the old A to Z challenge from CM but being unable to load up edited files pisses on that idea.
Which countries don't require permits bar the obvious ones?
Level 10 to the top in England?
I found it fun once, there must be a db file knocking about.

Only one transfer for the club in January and here he is:
http://i.imgur.com/2YaNFQS.png
He only cost £375k, he's not that great and he'll probably never break into the first team but he'll make us some decent money.
http://i.imgur.com/4DzLiC9.png
http://i.imgur.com/sSdmaE5.png
Getting dicked on by Juventus 5-1 in the first leg of the cup was the low point, although it was made worse by the fact that I thought we'd progress when we scored 3 in the first 16 minutes, sadly we couldn't find a fourth.
The losses to Lazio and Milan late on were due to me playing a full on youth 11 as we had the Champions League.
http://i.imgur.com/rkbiCy0.png
The league was even more of a cake walk this time, despite using a youth team in about 8 games. The 6 teams below us are just so even that no one is able to break away from that pack to try and challenge us.
http://i.imgur.com/TMLiC6T.png
http://i.imgur.com/MhalrBc.png
The Champions League group was surprisingly easy as were Kiev who were absolute shit outside of Kiev. Madrid didn't offer any sort of resistance either.
Sadly we got turned over by Arsenal. In the first leg they played a 5-4-1, we created lots of chances but could only score 1 at home. At Arsenal they played us off the park in the first half scoring all of their goals. We had plenty of chances in the second half and there were so many goalline scrambles, it looked like we might get the goals to see us through but they held firm. Really though we were lucky that they only scored 3 against us in the first half, defensively we were all over the shop in the first half.

Roberts wasn't the lethal force he was last year but Yori stepped up when he was firing blanks and Gede did well when I decided to make him first choice.

He's the weak link of our team but decent goalkeepers are like diamond dust in my game and I really hate shelling out £40m+ on a decent one.
http://i.imgur.com/19UTAaz.png
A true trooper on the right, sadly he's a proper thug too having picked up 6 red cards in 78 starts.
http://i.imgur.com/b8V2X5J.png
Probably paid a bit too much for him when I bought him but he's formed a really good partnership with Wouters, he doesn't pick up red cards and he's Italian.
http://i.imgur.com/lYoiNq8.png
He's an absolute rock at the heart of the defence.
http://i.imgur.com/zPjNeVd.png
He was a vital addition as he's terrorised opposing players on his side of the pitch. He's great in defence and he's constantly bombing forward offering an option.
http://i.imgur.com/h3BKOuZ.png
The only bad thing about him is the lack of goals and assists, if he could add those into his game he'd be a star.
http://i.imgur.com/jtY8Wd1.png
He really came on this year as he seemed to relish the competition.
http://i.imgur.com/RiTMqxs.png
He's an absolute stud, I have no idea how Inter got relegated with him in the side as he's so damn effective.
http://i.imgur.com/YJ9TeuG.png
The fans and media were completely against him when he came due to his fee but he's shut them all up.
http://i.imgur.com/usuMaIT.png
He came in for a hefty fee but he performed really well, if he progresses nicely he'll be a monster next season.
http://i.imgur.com/08qZnXD.png
Shoved on the left for most of the season due to Goddard and he was on fire. He's the key in our team.
http://i.imgur.com/MHtc9K8.png
He wasn't quite as good last year but he's one of, if not the best strikers in the game.

What's the crack with some players being unable to tutor? I've deliberately brought in Gael Clichy, Jonathan de Guzman, Iker Casillas and the impeccable Cameron Jerome but none are able to do it. Forlan and Nilmar were fine?
I think it can depend on their squad status and the status of those they can train.
Looks like I have found some shooting boots for you Smiffy, apart from that own goal.
I've been fucked right up the arse by a crash dump. I'd just taken receipt of a new batch of academy graduates which included a winger with eighteen acceleration and pace and nineteen crossing at sixteen years old and a central midfielder with seventeen passing at the same age, both of whom had four star and one black star potentials. I'd thrown both into a matchday squad immediately, with both coming on at half time and nabbing an assist each. A week later the game crashed.
I've just turned it on now to find that my last save was a week and a half before the intake. Hopefully the players you receive are generated well in advance and develop behind the scenes based on your youth facilities, but I doubt it. If I end up with another bag of shit in this intake I'll be in the news this week for maiming the dev team. :moop:
This is not how I thought the group would end up looking:
https://i.imgur.com/g6i0hnU.png
I didn't get anyone close to the same quality as the two nutters from the lost class of 2021, but I did get someone who looks like he'll turn out very well indeed. I've taken to offering my good young players contracts on decent money very early so that I can sneak a three year extension option in there, so he's earning far too much for someone his age.

Also, Croatian scheduling strikes again.

The fucking state of it.
I've a new laptop coming tomorrow amd I'm going to cave and buy this. I assume it's a decent version of the game given the activity in this thread. First thing I'll do (after the usual logos, real names etc) is build my England down to level 8 update which I did last year. There are some you can download but I enjoyed doing my own one.
Star of last year's intake and 'one of the best players of his generation' Domagoj Mikulinec is turning into an absolute monster. His inability to jump is still a concern so I might retrain him to play DM, but fucking look at him.

That Mikulinec would probably do well as a 'sitting' LB, if you've got a RB who can bomb on. He's pretty bonkers.
He's played left back a few times but I have a couple of promising players there while my only good defensive midfielder is an Albanian lunatic who gets five reds a season and isn't homegrown, so he'd be filling more of a gap in the squad there.
If he could jump he'd be comfortably my best centre back already.

Well the group stage went better than I had hoped but I really thought it was our year after the second leg of the Chelsea game and then THAT game against Madrid. Our problem was we chucked the kitchen sink at Man City in the first leg but failed to score. We went 1-0 up early in the second leg but managed to take it late :(
http://i.imgur.com/p48HXJf.png
Loads went on loan this year, a lot for fees which ended up making us £25.3m (christ that's nuts for loans). In terms of the finances though, we're pretty fucked. We've ended the season on a negative balance even after the Champions League money came in. Predicted to be -£275m at the end of the 2029/30 season (fuck) but I did secure a deal to sell Saraco (losing an Italian sucks) for £45m upfront with 50% next sale at the end of the season to PSG which will ease the pressure for now but I might have to sell most of my backups and/or recycle the older players for youth.
Edit: Pinto gone :(
PSG came in with an offer which I negotiated up to a total of £46.5m (not too shabby considering he came in last summer on a freebie) and 50% next sale plus the board have stuck an extra £17.5m in themselves.

My pal has made a database which has converted the English league system into 4 divisions of county sides. His description:
Each of the 48 ceremonial counties have a team, which are separated into 4 leagues of 12. There is also a County Cup.
Every team has their own logo (credit to William_Dawkins on Photobucket), nickname, rivalries, stadium etc. They start with zero players but are given enough money to buy a squad of players. How much they are given depends on their reputation.
The competitions also have their own logos.
All previous professional English teams are now extinct (with all players and staff released) except for the Welsh teams, who have moved to the Welsh leagues.

Something weird just happened in my save. About 5 months ago (during the summer window) I was bidding for Paul Pogba, and Juve wouldn't accept a 150 million bid from me (didn't even bother trying anything higher than that).
Now, in January, all of a sudden Real Madrid made a 50M bid (he's valued 63M). My scout tells me he will cost 63M exactly (he has no release clause though...). So, I bid 63M, and Juve just accept.

A look at past winners has turned me on to the fact that Mario Gotze retired aged twenty six, presumably through not being able to find a club. I think Toby may be right that there's a very specific glitch to do with him.

That county database is great fun, albeit a bit too easy. AI far too cautious in signing players, and I'm able to pick up genuine superstars in the county division 4 with Warwickshire. Maybe one for a network game, or at least start with the City of London as they're so gash it might be a bit of a challenge.

Fuck knows how Galatasary made it as they're shit and their best performance in the Champions League prior to this was the first knockout round (they usually finish third in their group), but they smashed their group beating Real Madrid, Zenit and Celtic. Then they dumped out Bayern, Barcelona and then Chelsea. Sadly we were far too much for them as we were all over them.
http://i.imgur.com/5uc8P4K.png
Valencia were seconds away from dumping us out and Arsenal should have seen us out in the first 20 minutes of the second leg as they were rampant but only got 2 goals and then we started to get back into the match. Andreoni my Italian centreback was a bomb scare in the Valencia and Arsenal second leg games though, the fucker was at fault for 2 goals against Valencia and gave away a penalty and against Arsenal he scored an own goal.

126 goals which is our best tally as well as a new record points tally. Our front four in a 4-2-3-1 in Roberts, Yori, Berti and Goddard is absolutely lethal with them scoring a total of 102 league goals between them and 135 in all competitions.
Only two signings this year:

£800k from Parma, scouts love him and I can't wait to send him out on loan in the next season so he can really flourish.

£3.4m, I highly doubt he's the answer when Roberts goes but at the very worst I can make some tidy profit.
http://i.imgur.com/GURvILA.png
We secured £142m for those players, the first two rotated a lot with Vazquez, Saraco and Berti but I let them go as we needed the cash and PSG went nuts for them. Alessandro was a back up option who could play in multiple positions and the others didn't even know what our pitch looked like. We also made a further £28m from loaning players out.

In the league it was 97% with 3 sell-outs.
In the Champions League we were 400 short of a sellout against Lille, max for Benfica, 700 short against Sarpsborg, about 100 short against Wolfsburg in the first knockout and then sell outs against Valencia and Arsenal.
Yeah, we had around £130m in the bank at the time. At the end of last season I asked for them to increase the capacity of the stadium which they accepted (we've gone past the date it was meant to be completed so I guess it's cancelled).
I didn't ask them for a new stadium as I thought they'd reject it and they wouldn't name it after me. I got all excited when I saw the news item a few days after our Champions League, didn't last though :moop:

Started unemployed and applied for a couple of local jobs (I want to play as realistically as possible) at Belper Town and Gresley, both in the Northern Premier League Division One South. I got the former and had my first friendly the day after taking over, against Worksop who play a level below. Went, obviously, with what will eventually be my preferred tactic; an attacking 4-3-2-1 with a high-ish line and aggressive pressing. And found myself 0-5 at half time. It finished 3-5 and the second half was pretty good , but fuck me.
I've had a proper look at the squad now and the 4-2-3-1 probably won't do it for now so I'll need to go with a different shape. I have no staff at all so that's the first priority. The way I play I only sign players found by my scouts or (or seen by me in a game then scouted) so that presents a bit of a problem. The board want a top half finish. The board will be lucky if they get that.
If you are going that far down you might want to really simplify your tactic, with as few instructions as possible. Also I'd suggest using a 442 as AMCs are pretty much non-existent that far down.
I only have two instructions, shape and role are more important than using loads of instructions. It might end up being 4-4-2 for a bit, although there is an AM in the squad. I'm not bothered about the formation for now, that will come later when I've built a squad. More bothered about playing in a particular style.

Out of Europe because of this, it was literally (although the video doesn't show it) straight from the kick off having just scored a goal that would have taken us through on away goals :moop:
Seething doesn't even describe what I'm feeling right now.
Once again I've managed to finish third in a horror show of a Champion's League group only to be met with a horror show of a Europa draw. Napoli and then either Roma or Young Boys, so Roma.

I really dislike the Olympics, going into my second season with Roma and five of my first choice players are away for the opening game of the season. It would have to be a grudge match against Juve too (7 Scudettos and a Champions League for ........ Brendan Rogers!). Had to start with a 16 year old up front and a youth team keeper. Lost 2-1 and picked up injuries to both of my forwards, yay!
Is this your Germany inspired tactic? Sounds interesting. Could you post a couple screenshots please Lee?

I will tomorrow when I get back on the game, but yeah, it is. I had to convert it to a 4-4-2 for Belper, started the season with 4 wins and a defeat and then the fucking thing crashed so I've got the arse with it. It's my own fault for going with every nation in the game to be fair. I'm going to start a new one tonight.
Anyway, the tactic is dead simple:
Mentality: attacking
Shape: flexible (couldn't decide where to go - structured is good for playing wider and creating space, fluid is good for being compact and pressing, so I've gone in the middle.)
The only two team instructions are to play offside (as the line is high with an attacking mentality) and close down much more.
The player roles are as follows, in a wide 4-2-3-1:
Goalkeeper
RB: Full back (A) - Lahm
CB: Central Defender (D) - Hummels
CB: Central Defender (D) - Boateng
LB: Full Back (S) - Howedes
CM: Central Midfielder (D) Schweinsteiger
CM: Central Midfielder (S) Khedira
RW: Inside Forward (A) - Muller (I know he's a 'Ramdeuter' in this system but I start lower down so I won't find anybody good enough in that role)
AM: Attacking Midfielder (S) - Kroos
LW: Winger (S) - Ozil
ST: Poacher (A) - Klose
All German players taken from the Brazil semi. The limited number of instructions is just my own interpretation from what I've read recently about the transformation of the German national team, hence my interest in putting something of that into practice in the game. The philosophy of Klinsmann, developed then by Low, is to play fairly direct attacking stuff with aggressive pressing high up the pitch. This tactic seems to represent that fairly well in the match engine. You get lots of different types of runner in all the players with an attacking mentality which gives you plenty of passing options, and you tend to get more possession, although not dramatically more than the opposition.
Great stuff, thanks Lee.
I assume the attacking mentality will still have "counter attack" ticked under the hood. (They might have removed that feature, I'm not sure. If not I'm not sure why it's not shown in the instructions tab.)

From what I've read that's the case - the ME automatically has teams counter attacking when there's an opportunity regardless of starting mentality. The ticked box feature was all about when a counter would happen. So with it unticked, the player's team would counter only when the AI team had x or fewer players back. With it ticked counter attacks would be launched with a higher number of AI players back.

No transfers in for me this season but we did make £39.25m, £5.77m of that was 2 players leaving (one was a 22 year old who did nothing and the other was a 27 year old that was produced by us who was loan bait).

In Europe it was shaping up to be an easy jolly but then we went to shit in the first leg against City. In the second leg we bossed it and went 3-0 up to send us through, sadly they scored straight from the kick off and that was the end of our campaign.
http://i.imgur.com/GtDmS4T.png
The biggest thing there is Eddie Goddard hardly playing despite scoring 29 goals and setting up 23 last year. He was the odd man out for most of it as I'd either play Sanchez or Berti on the right (both finally finished their training for that spot) to bring a better balance or working in Pace and Ascani. I was set to sell him in January but no team came close to our value although he chimped out and missed training about 8 times so we clawed a lot in fines from him.
Oh and Inter Milan? They finished sixth in Serie B and in the playoffs, they ended up losing in the preliminary round to AlbinoLeffe who finished 8th. Despite still being 'Rich', they're pretty much fucked I feel.

On the bright side, my last two intakes have offered up a couple of serious looking players, so I'm looking forward to getting in tonight and getting stuck into the new season. I'll post up my starting lineup for next season later. As a guess I think it might have an average age of under twenty.

£105m from the sales and a further £25.29m in from loan fees. Goddard is the big one, £55m (rising to £57m) plus 50% of his next sale so we've smashed it with that. I was a little surprised that we got so little for Andreoni but considering how much of a liability he was during bigger European games I'm just glad he's gone. I also tried to sell Berti but the best offer I got was around £40m and I decided I'd rather keep him at least for another season.

Our busiest window for 3 seasons, I wanted to add more numbers as we were lacking on decent youths other than 3/4 players and our U20 side hadn't done anything for the last 2 years. Ascani has taken a HUGE step up this campaign, other than that the players all performed to their expectations. Nikic stepped up admirably as we were so much defensively with him in the team after selling Andreoni. I'm going to look to sell a few who are currently on loan as well as Berti and maybe Subirats.
Also, all the new youth signings earlier in the season really helped our u20 side. They regained the Viareggio, won the u20 league and lost in the final of the UEFA Youth league. They only lost 4 games in the season. The Youth League final, once in the Italian youth cup and twice in the league. They're going to be obscene next year.

Here is our transfer dealings in the Summer:

£10m from Watford and he's already having a bit of an impact. I let him play in the Aussie All-Star game (not sure why we were in it) and he scored a hattrick as well as grabbing an assist, then I let him start the Supercoppa and he shat all over Juventus linking up play really well whilst scoring 1 and assisting another. He's also smashing them in for the u20 side.
http://i.imgur.com/qwx6Kq5.png
£7.5m from the Midgets. Not entirely sure what I saw in him but my scouts like him a bit, he's got a nice name and he can run fast.
http://i.imgur.com/HrBkTz8.png
£8.5m from Flamengo and again, I'm not sure what I saw in him. Perhaps it was just the name. My scouts don't even like him too but I needed some left back cover so I guess I forked it out on the Dude whose real name is Quelvisson Maia Santos so I'm not sure where he got 'Dude' from, maybe he was just the coolest cat around in the favela.
http://i.imgur.com/LeTnQCE.png
We got mugged off on every single deal bar the Berti one. The others (bar Die, Paolucci and Zini) include 50% of next sale though. Berti and Subirats were still first teamers but the youth that have made the step up as well as those needing to make the step up needed them gone. The rest were loan bait for a while, speaking of:

A tougher 2nd season in the top flight. We were mostly shit for all of it.

But, these three young starlets I've bought in pre-season should help.

Finished Season 2038/39. 3rd season in the top flight.
Very pleased with the end result. Slightly false position as i was quite low down until my winning streak at the end of the season.

Look at that run at the end of the season.

The winter transfer update is out. Match engine changes too.
I'm going to start my Roma game this weekend. Looking forward to playing with their new players.

Ahhh, at last. This is when I actually get into an edition of FM. I think it's time for a Dortmund save.
Are Bayern as dominant as in real life? Probably a good challenge being anyone else in Germany.
I've barely played a match on this version. I need to right the wrongs from my Roma save last version, played pretty much four seasons and only had 1 league and 1 cup win.

Getting a crash dump I can't continue through :moop:
Hopefully SI can sort it out.
Definitely looks related to the editor changes I'm afraid. I've been able to get it to reproduce and I've passed it onto our coding team to investigate further. Apologies you've encountered this issue in your save.
Doesn't sound too good :\

It is.
Started as a huge Journeyman save but I liked Atlanta so much I stuck with them.

I have to say, it's a pretty big disgrace that an official transfer/data update is taking this long.
It's out. Doesn't seem that much has changed though. Does it not always come out in early March?

Kante's been boosted quite nicely, Alli is a proper player now and Rossiter is the best thing in Liverpool's academy.
