Yeah, their last win was, surprise surprise, at the Amex.

I don't know the exact mechanics of this, or if it indeed will be the case, but is Rangers' good run in Europe going to benefit Celtic by way of coefficient for the Champions League next season? Would be quite lol and a bit of a travesty if so.

Yeah it does. Think Celtic ate straight into the group stages

Feels like, out of nowhere, you're going to need an unusually high number of points to stay up this year. Hasn't it drifted to around 34/35 in recent years?

niko_cee

Which basically gives them the financial power to dominate for another 5 years. :happycry:

They're a bad team, bad teams lose away from home. Maybe there's something causal in the pattern but it's probably just noise. Home/away form is mostly just taking a small sample and chopping it in half.

Another case of taking every common opinion about the sport and then spouting the opposite as fact in an effort to look like some sort of genius. Takes a wee bit more.

United and Chelsea need to take a long hard look at themselves and think about what they've done this season.

Both will spend big again in the summer on players that do nothing to improve them as well. Liverpool, and City to a lesser extent, must be the only teams who spend big and have a huge strike rate in terms of them actually making an impact.

Giggles
01-05-2022, 04:14 PM
If Liverpool took a shit it would turn into a 15 goal a season winger. Though that's what happens when you've the best manager in the game.

Kikó

It would be quite sensational if United are unable to improve this squad.

It would be quite sensational if United are unable to improve this squad.

Depends on if the same people are doing the buying, because they really need to start looking at different things and stop buying talented lazy wasters. And from what is said, the manager has abolutely no say there.

Beggars belief how you fuck a club up so much.

Lewis
01-05-2022, 04:24 PM
We were reasonably optimistic about the squad before the season. It was the manager who was clearly not up to it. Now a few of them have been exposed good and proper, so there can't be any disappointment next year at least.

City more manage to dodge bullets [usually by having United or Chelsea gazump them - Maguire, Fred, Jorginho, probably more] than anything.

I was more critiquing those two managing to lose to Everton [and thereby probably keeping them up].

Have the Glazers realised that they can't coast to fourth-ish every year now? It all seems a bit like they are suddenly worried about it getting past the point of no return.

Waffdon
01-05-2022, 04:59 PM
Everton beat Chelsea every year so that should have been a given. Especially when you add into the fact the latter aren’t really playing for anything and the home fans went all Liverpool with their pre match build up

Great result for Arsenal, I bet Rice is easy to wind up. Hope someone called him a turncoat and that's why he was crying so much.

Think they’re banking on 4th since Spurs and Arsenal play each other and Spurs at Anfield. Basically 4 and 6 clear due to GD so probably only need 1 win and a draw.

AC Milan moved five points clear at the top of Serie A after a late goalkeeping howler gifted them a win against Fiorentina at San Siro.

Back to where we were 2/3 years ago. Both teams just look so likely to win out from here. It just is what it is. Don't let them get 14 points ahead next time.

If there are going to be any dropped points, both play tricky ish away ties back to back after next weekend.

I mean really if you're even ten points behind that could be a few weeks of bad injuries which is just luck and therefore NOT FAIR.

Ergo, top 16 should go into as playoff system, relegation should be abolished and all teams should have to have their current nickname (Red Devil, whatever) as part of their official team name.

Paying for a football match that you're going to walk out of had never made sense. They only care about money, don't pay in the first place. The lad walking around with the flares is going to get a good ban as well.

United's best home games have been the first and last (assuming Leeds was first).

Waffdon
02-05-2022, 09:23 PM
Means Scotland are guaranteed 3 teams and in the Group Stages minimum which is a bit mental. Celtic in CL, Rangers in pot 1 of CL if they win the EL or into CL qualifying - if they don’t win in that they’ll drop straight into the group stages for the EL. Then it’s the same for Hearts but into Europa Conference if they don’t win their play offs.

The 80s are back!

:D Look forward to it. Brighton Seagulls safe for eternity, jousting with Crystal London Eagles and East London Hammers for the honourable / entirely meaningless 8th place.

Ronaldo was excellent tonight. Surely his best all-round game in terms of link up etc. Not as fun as the mental hat-tricks but nearly as impressive.

Anyway, much as I'd like to see a latter day recreation of the '81 final, I can't see past City bunting the meringues out tonight and then returning losers have quite a good record in finals don't they? Can think of Bayern and Liverpool who went straight back and won second time round in recent times, although looking further back United managed to do the reverse and win then lose, and Juve and Valencia managed to lose two finals consecutively to different teams, with Juve doing that on the back of their win against Ajax. :face:
