What is the rift over? Is there a "Actually being a rapist isn't that bad" faction or something? .

That one would be led by Ronaldo I suppose.

There's 'Team innocent until proven guilty' and 'Team scratch his name out of the history books and burn all his kit'. The hispanic lot seem to be in the latter camp, with the domestics in the former.

West Ham United unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that has circulated. We have spoken to Kurt and will be dealing with the matter internally, but we would like to make it clear that we in no way condone cruelty towards animals.

Good to know.

West Ham boss David Moyes, speaking to the media about Kurt Zouma: "I am really disappointed and the club have taken all the actions that they can do at the moment. They are working on that behind the scenes. My job is to pick the best team for West Ham and Kurt was part of that team.

"I am a big animal lover. As I said, my job is to try and win for West Ham and to put out the best team for that.

"I think the club would rather deal with it all in time and they will let you know what the action is.

"I was really disappointed with what I saw and what I was told. But as I've said, it was my job to find the best team for West Ham. There will be people who will be disappointed at that and I understand that totally.

"I am someone who cares a lot about my dogs and horses and all the people I am connected with. I have spoken to him and we will move on as much as we can. We wanted to get this game out of the way and we understand nobody will be pleased about it. It is a poor situation.

lol.

He’s a contracted football player who is currently a free man not under any criminal investigation.

This debate is had about the NFL all the time. Coaches don’t fill their teams with nice guy players, they fill their teams with the best available players.

I’m not watching the videos for what it’s worth, and he’s clearly a bit of a bastard if what’s reported is accurate. But is he West Ham’s best available cb? Probably.

Jimmy Floyd
09-02-2022, 08:36 AM
I do feel for Moyes in that situation. His job is to pick the best team, if he doesn't and results are poor then his job is on the line.

If the club don't want Kurt Zouma to play it's up to them to ban him or whatever. So the guns, as always, should be turned on the pornographers.

I see poor Kurt's had his cats taken away from him now.

Funny isn't the word perhaps, but it'd be quite something if they ended up not giving them back, not finding a home for them and having to destroy them or whatever it is that happens to all the unclaimed animals. I guess with cats you can just let them go and run riot over the native species like most owners seem to anyway. Pretty sure a cat is more likely to find itself a new owner than a cat charity.

Don
11-02-2022, 11:22 AM
By borderline I mean there wouldn't he uproar if either of them weren't given as isolated moments in a game. Factor in thay they've just occured B2B and punishing both results in a red and it's a bit autistic to go through with it when you can see the player is riled up momentarily and just needs to be talked to and calmed down (after brandishing a yellow obvs).

Ben
11-02-2022, 11:32 AM
The ref has clearly decided between both offences that the first one in his mind is a nailed on yellow card, so when he goes and does the second one moments later, internally the ref now has a dilemma. It was odd to see, but he's 100% right in my view. He'd be doing himself a disservice if he bottled it and let him off with the first one, even if the audience would be none the wiser.

Jesus, you ok hun?

It's about reffing the game as a human rather than a computer. There are emotions involved, if a player lashes out by all means get him off but Martinelli just has the red mist at being dispossessed and carries out 2 soft offences.

Interfering with a throw in like that was a nailed on yellow card so he could never expect a free hit by fouling the player who was given the advantage on the back of his other foul.
