Ever done it? Ever pick people up?

We picked up a guy once who wasn't hitchhiking, he was just walking along a country road in the dark and pissing rain. His destination was on our way. Didn't get raped. True story

My now wife had just moved to St Louis and I was visiting her. She bought a dining table, but decided she did not want to pay for the delivery, so we went to pick it up. Note that she did not have a car. No big deal, she said, it is only a few miles away. It took us about an hour to walk to the warehouse, which was in a really shitty part of town. Burned buildings and broken windows all over the place. Anyway, the table came in two large boxes. I grabbed the heavier one and she carried the less heavy one. It only took a block for her to declare that she wouldn't be able to make it. Also, it had just started to rain. Very light rain, but still. Luckily, a lad (old black dude) saw us suffering, stopped on the side of the road on his old and fucked up pickup truck and offered to help. I took the offer immediately and he gave us a ride home. He was very friendly, but I couldn't understand a thing he said. When we arrived, he asked us a question, which I did not understand. Marijuana, do you smoke marijuana? he said, as he reached for the glovebox. We declined the offer, I gave him twenty bucks, which he said were not necessary, but I insisted, so he took them and we both went our ways. Really nice lad. Midwestern hospitality. :cool:
