He's getting a bit of leeway from everyone because he's been here forever and is generally liked; if someone newer and/or less popular was acting like he is they'd be lolled off the board.

I think part of the problem is I'm massively mis-understood by the moron contingent/those that don't actually read posts or get anything. For most of the time that's fine as they just ignore my posts, but when I do something that goes mainstream it brings them all out of the woodwork and they can't understand or handle it.

It's often been that way really.

I love the idea that 'emotional intelligence' Is regarded as a relevant concept when we all communicate solely in writing and most of us have never met each other or even spoken to each other in real-time

The place isnt somewhere to be for emotional intelligence, is it. Which kinda goes back to the issue with Yev and what he seemed to expect from people. It's almost as though he just doesn't read people's posts and know what the place is like, if he is expecting not to get rinsed. I'm not defending that kinda of pisstaking, especially it honestly bothers you, but I'm surprised that you're surprised by it.

When you've shared a forum with people for half of your life (christ), you understand their character and their intent when they post. There may be the odd misunderstanding, but for the most part I think we all get each other pretty well.
