Not a surprise but seems like stupid timing, unless there's a replacement who's suddenly become available.

Bodgers wouldn't take it, would he?

4-4-Tim being found out. Quelle fucking surprise.

That said, they should have sacked him earlier while Sam was available. Now they either need to pay Brenton a kings ransom or go for a Dyche type.

Mellberg

Why's it stupid timing? We've just played Chelsea back into form with another nothing performance.

As bad as Chelsea have been lately you can't really say that result changes anything. If he isn't up to it now he clearly wasn't up to it before, and they could have done what a few others did and allowed themselves the international break to sort a new manager out.

Aston Villa is exactly the sort of job Rodgers is going to have to go for now. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him turn up there.

Villa and Sunderland are two teams that need relegation, a clearing out, and a start anew.

The problem here is that this is the season everyone needs to stay up to get the big TV money next season and Sunderland have probably gambled a fair bit financially to stay in the league.

There's also the worry that you don't yoyo back and spend thirty years in the lower leagues or end up in huge financial trouble.

He did well last season, but this year has been full of mental ramblings and the worst tactical decisions i've ever seen. He's managed to absolutely blow a lot of good will out the water in nine games. Awful.

It's just a club and city in terminal decline. Their best bet would be to merge with Birmingham City and then sell off St Andrews for housing.

Birmingham isn't really in decline. It's still miles ahead of any other British city other than London in economic terms. The club is just being mismanaged. There's no reason it shouldn't be attractive to investors or players. It's not like you need to live in Nechells. Plenty of nice rural areas surrounding it, the ciy centre is very good nowadays and if you really hate it you can be in London in an hour.

Sherwood made sense at the time. They couldn't score, so they appointed someone known for playing attacking football. He kept them up, which was the requirement, so that's fair.

Maybe they could have got rid of him over the summer, but he'd probably earned the start of this year. It's the correct decision to sack him now.

Think it might be best to keep my expectations low. Like the sound of Garde, but you can only work with what your given. Don't see many goals in Gabby, Gestede, Kozak or Ayew, although there's a bit of potential in the latter.

Someone said to me once he's down the Emirates on Sundays and weeknights, don't know if it's true but he must make a mint from it. 500 customers at £4 a burger isn't too shabby for a couple of hours work.
