Nah, nobody reliable has talked about that. Looks more likely Atletico and Barca are trying for a swap deal with him and Saul.

If Chelsea bid for Haaland then they will get him. And if Abramovich wants him as all the reports say, it’ll probably happen.

randomlegend

It's from Falk who is an absolute fraud. He made a name for himself when Lahm was at Bayern and used to feed him information; since Lahm retired he knows nothing.

They won't sell Haaland (unless there's some absolutely stupid £200m bid, which there won't be). Zorc has said he won't be sold this summer. Chelsea fans are living under the same delusions we were a year ago when we thought Zorc would still sell Sancho after he said the deadline was August 10th.

Haaland will go next summer when the release clause kicks in and Raiola, his Dad and him can get the extra money which would have gone on the transfer fee.

It seems he could be going to Inter Miami after 2 years:

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11833/12355747/lionel-messi-barcelona-forward-agrees-contract-extension-with-50-per-cent-pay-cut

""The reason it's a five-year deal is that it is likely that Messi will play the next two years but it's a longer deal so that he stays linked to the club as an ambassador. But the talk is he might go to MLS after two years while still being paid by the club.

"It's a way for Barcelona to spread out the payment over five years. That's part of the reason he's been able to take such a massive cut of around 50 per cent.""

How are we going to get ourselves out of this finaincial bind we're in right now?

How about giving players contracts so long that'll we'll still be paying them long after they've retired?

Can't see how that's going to go wrong when half their wage bill in three years is for players who no longer even play for them.

Mets owner Fred Wilpon accepted the deal mostly because he was heavily invested with Ponzi scheme operator Bernie Madoff, and the 10 percent returns he thought he was getting on his investments with Madoff outweighed the eight percent interest the Mets would be paying on Bonilla's initial $5.9 million.

Gray Fox
15-07-2021, 10:40 AM
The guys around the club seem to reckon there wont be any more ins at Liverpool before there are outs. The big problem position was addressed in signing Konate, but there are some squad players about that could free up some much needed cash. They don't want to buy, then get stuck with a lot of deadwood collecting without being able to move them on.

Grujic could fetch £10-15m for example. There's also Harry Wilson. If we could fleece Bournemouth again that'd be great. There's also potential for Nat Phillips to move on for regular playing time.

Don

For all their "he's not going anywhere" foot-stamping, it'd be a bit daft of 'BVB' (lol) to turn down £100m+ when they'll lose him for much less next summer. Doubly so when he goes to Bayern next summer to further fuck their lives. Whilst there are some similarities with the Sancho situation, there is also the major difference that Chelsea tend to stump up the cash when they want something done.

Chelsea's highest ever fee paid is £72m on Havertz. It's going to take double that to get Haaland this summer and that's without even taking into account the ridiculous Raiola fee, Dad fee and Haaland's insane wage demands.

People talk about "Chelsea just pay up and Uts don't", but Utd have, what, 3 or 4 transfer more expensive than Chelsea's highest ever. Utd were the ones who just paid up to take Lukaku out from under their noses.

The mistakes Lindelof makes are generally to do with him being built like a transitioning teenager, so, whatever mistakes he makes, he won't be making those mistakes.

I'm not sure United need a defensive midfielder all that desperately if you assume the defence will be stronger and the attack more balanced, which will prevent whoever plays in that right-sided midfield pocket from being pulled out of position covering either way. What they need right is a new manager.

Awoniyi (no idea) > Hertha Berlin (£6.5m)

Wilson surely on the way quite soon as well, Fulham seems to be the rumour of choice at the moment.

Shift him, Shaq and Origi and with the above sales we might be able to afford half a decent player or a new contract for Henderson (why is everyone shitting the bed over that if he has 2 years still to run on his current deal?).

Gray Fox
20-07-2021, 10:09 AM
For what it’s worth I don’t think both Origi and Shaq leave.

Either way you’re looking at £50m or so for 4 players who have no chance of a first team appearance this season before you even get to the two mentioned.

As mentioned before this has been Liverpool’s priority. Then attention can be turned to a couple of signings to flesh out the squad again.

The Henderson stuff coming from nowhere sounds to me like an agent trying to hurry things along. At 31 he surely only gets an extra year, maybe two anyway?

His agent(who is his brother) needs shooting at this point for letting him sign that contract. It's absolutely fucking mental and it's not even as if it paid him that well for his value at the time.

Personally I don't understand why if City are talking that level of money for a striker they aren't looking at Mbappe or Haaland there is far more value in those two.

Yeah, I really hate how this 'total deal' number found by adding up 5 years of wages and bonuses on top of the transfer fee is becoming the norm now. That methodology puts that fee at around £50-60m, which is obviously miles short of what Levy would want. £160m with the wages on top would be lolworthy though, make it happen.

There's a lot of talk of Bernardo Silva going to fund deals. The Athletic say he has wanted out since 2020. Quite an odd time he has had at City - clearly an ultra-talented player complete with exceptional workrate, but rarely a guaranteed starter and often goes relatively unnoticed.

if Man City want him the money will be no problem. Levy would want £150m at least I should imagine, but does money in football matter at all these days?

I don't know how it would work within our game and it brings its own problems (the grubby exploitation of children, but I guess football does that anyway), but the American draft system is much better for so many reasons.

I don't believe that. City have never paid anything even remotely close to that for one player and I don't think they'll start. They buy lots of 50-60m players but blowing 150 on one just isn't their game.

Yevrah
23-07-2021, 11:17 AM
But they clearly have the money and could if Pep pushes it. The days of net-spend being a thing are long gone.

randomlegend
23-07-2021, 11:23 AM
Of course they could, they've just shown that it's not the way they operate. They could absolutely suddenly change that but I don't think they will (the noises coming out this morning are that City are saying they'd never spend that on one player).

It's not about net spend; they'd have no bother spending 150m on three 50m players.

Yevrah
23-07-2021, 11:27 AM
Some things:

Why would the noises coming out of City be anything other than "we're not fucking paying that much"
Just because they haven't before doesn't mean they won't
They don't need anymore £50m players at this moment in time
If the right player comes along (I don't think he is, but who knows what Pep thinks) then I absolutely believe they would.

Pep doesn't seem to get his own way on transfers at City. He absolutely wanted Maguire/Sanchez/Fred but all were deemed too expensive and he was told no.

I could obviously be wrong, we'll see, but I just don't believe they'll suddenly change their way of operating like that. There's a reason they've stuck to it ever since the money came in. It has a big impact on your future transfer activity if you start blowing lol sums on single players.

Unless Bam's suggesting he could go to City (unlikely given Rodri), Bayern Munich (Kimmich?) or one of the Spanish 'giants' (unlikely given bankruptcies), I'm not sure the gulf between any of the rest (us, Chelsea, Liddypewl...PSG?...Juventus?) is really that wide.
