It's really kicking off here tonight.

Earlier a crowd of loyalists at an interface in West Belfast just off the Shankill Road hijacked and petrol bombed a bus.

A gate in the peace wall has also been broken open and the two sides just seem to be going at it now.

Tiger's Bay, a loyalist area in North Belfast (where Carl Franpton is originally from) is also kicking off now apparently.

English self-flagellating hashtag twitter is claiming it's all to do with Brexit, but isn't it local shit? Surely idiot kids as seen above have no clue about the protocol etc.

Quality, just protect Fibber Magee and Thompsons pls.

All joking aside, this is clearly linked to the lockdown which continues to be a quality social experiment. Get the fucking clubs open so society can get back on track.

There is a lot of unionist/loyalist anger about the NI Protocol and unionist politicians have been stirring that up since the start of the year.

Do these people out throwing shit understand what it is? Probably not. But they feel their sense of Britishness is being diminished, I guess. Or that's what they're being told to feel anyway.

I'll not believe this is properly underway until schoolkids start getting police escorts again.

That happened after the Good Friday Agreement.

With the various disturbances over the past week including last Friday when most of those arrested at Sandy Row in South Belfast were teenagers (including one 13 year old), a lot of people here have been asking "where are the parents?" The answer, for some of them anyway, is out there cheering them on:

I saw another theory that PSNI have been getting at the loyalist drug gangs and this is all whipped up by them in response. Sounds a bit too Narcos but what do I know.

I'd say there was some truth to that too. But that was mostly the South East Antrim UDA which controls the Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey areas which were kicking off over the weekend. I don't think they really have much of a presence in Belfast. I don't think they get on with the other battalions/units of the UDA that operate there.

Really questioning the wisdom of buying a house here. Still have time to pull out. Maybe I should just get out of this godforsaken hole once and for all.

Do you have an option to buy elsewhere? Might be an idea, think the political side of this will be carrying on for some time, not sure about the other factors.

I think the part where everyone is bored so stood on the street watching is definitely lockdown related. I think in years gone by people would have been staying in their houses for safety? The ones in the videos anyway just look like they are there to rubberneck, rather than energised either way.

Or use this to reduce your offer by 10k like our buyer tried when the Brexit referendum happened.

Mask up and do some collateral damage. It'll hurry them out.

I've just started a new job on Tuesday and the Belfast tech scene is booming so that coupled with the relatively low house prices here was why I was happy to plan to be here long term.

But the society is just rotten. There are plenty of decent people but this shit is always going to be simmering away under the surface and erupting every now and again and our politicians are absolute cunts who stoke it for their own gain then disown it when it blows up.

I hope to have kids one day, would I really want to raise them here?
