Yeah absolutely terrible. I think it would have been a bad one either way, a lot of professional/familial concerns but being stuck in the flat for about 9 months has made it complete wank, some really bad lows.

What's a kip? Or did you mean skip?

What's a kip? Or did you mean skip?

Meaning: A dump of a place and also a sleep
Example: I had a quick kip before dinner; it was a real kip of a hotel

Very good year at work, terrible in every other respect.

It's not actually been that bad - work went pretty well, started a masters, did some nice stuff in the community in the first wave, managed to spend a month with both my parents and in laws plus managed to get abroad twice (paging boydy).

Thankfully, family have been relatively untouched bar my sister in law who has had a terrible time of it recently.

How was your night outside? I was thinking about it last night and realised I forgot all about it.

You could have a very eventful 2021 ahead.

Probably best suited to this thread tbh.

It wasn't too bad, I crashed around 3am, woke up around 5am which was probably the coldest point but I got through it.

In total we managed to raise just over £30,000 which was pretty good. We'll have a full and final total on NYE. It's been quite a year tbh so it will be interesting to see what 2021 has in store but personally speaking, I'm quite proud of myself in what we've achieved this year.

Breakdown being:

Campaigned since March.
Appeared on GMB, BBC News, Sky News, LBC, Radio 4, BBC Radio Wales and a few others
Had maybe 4/5 articles written, personally but plenty more in total, from FT, Independent, Guardian, Mirror etc.
Helped force a debate in parliament and another in another room
Helped create the biggest APPG in parliamentary history
Had many meetings with MP's from all parties
Recent meeting was with Deputy minister and chief whip in Wales to talk about our MH program which could see us being a shareholder in the recovery plan for Wales. Just got a follow up after the new year after my FOI request has been answered.
Worked with Red Umbrella to arrange 1-1 support for our members to get access to a councillor within 48 hours

I've got a lot of things I want to try and achieve next year but hopefully from a position of strength.

Good year at work, owing to the pandemic backlog. Bags of overtime, bags of people to train and it all makes me look good.
I wasn't expecting my parents to be moving but I helped them shift my old stuff and there's an odd symbolic meaning to handing the keys back. Especially given I was thinking, "Last resort, I can move back in with the parents." when the redundancies were happening.
Review work was ... fine. It's routine now and there's very few surprises left. We know which publishers give us stuff and who don't. Also, visual novels are a shit genre written by psychopaths. Mostly.
Staying in most of the year has been shite. Sure, it's convenient and I've made bank off it but it's just so boring. Being hours away from a trip to California when Trump shut the door was quite shit. I'll try again in late March but even that feels wildly optimistic.

What else is shit? Well, turns out working in a perpetually cold room fucks your extremities up. Working in the office meant that never effected me but now it's a genuine problem to face. Storage heater + big room + draughty window = a pointless endeavour. January's going to be hell.

If you can put aside the country being finished then I got a lovely three month holiday, a decent pay bump at work, and I am in the process of buying a flat.

Tough year. Really tough in places. 3 cancelled holidays really fucking hurt and I do worry about the toll all this has had on our eldest. Are a generation of children that fear going near other people being created here?

Work wise it has been pretty good, much helped by working from home. Also, it turns out that doing fuck all for a year is good for your finances. Debt free with savings for the first time in more than a decade.

Tough to call really. Probably 0/10 for the things I've wanted to do but 10/10 for making the future look a bit brighter. If we can keep working from home and the savings going then all your suffering and deaths will have been worth it for me. Thanks guys.

5/10.

My years been a bit of a mixed bag. Was strange leaving the office in March and never having to go back, but I feel like I make the most of working from home. Personal life is okay. I’ve not really missed going out and seeing people because truthfully I was starting to get annoyed that my mates only meet up if I a) organise it and b) pester them, so I was verging on “can’t be arsed” territory anyway. Not being able to go round Mike’s with The Reid was rubbish though, as was not being able to go round my mum and dads. Oh and not being able to go on holiday was rubbish. Definitely going in August 2021 no matter what!

Also started some dodgy online shenanigans which has seen me make a fair bit of money, which pretty much paid for Christmas and then some. Gonna knock that mostly on the head from now though, before it ends up landing me in any trouble.

And my mum messaged me on Christmas Eve to say my cousins been hit by a car, and is now in intensive care with holes drilled into his skull to relieve pressure on his brain caused by swelling, so that’s a pretty shitty way to end an otherwise okay year.

Most of my actual best parts of 2020 were actually achieved playing World Of Warcraft Classic, but I stopped playing in July. Definitely gave me seven months of happiness though, as sad as that sounds, and I met some truly great people on there. Also watched a lot of AEW (wrestling) and it’s been a great journey, getting up to date, and now I look forward to Monday’s because I get to watch the latest episode of Dynamite (the weekly show) on my lunch. Brilliant. Plus they’ve released some toys which has resulted in me collecting them as a little hobby. Spent a lot of money on them but I figure it’s money I’d have only spent on beer or gambling, and I reckon they’ll be a worthwhile investment for the future. And even if I never sell them, it’ll be cool to still have them when I’m like my dads age and have all these old wrestling figures, still boxed, to tell someone about.

We probably legitimately need the first two. If the third can be interpreted as a teaching profession, then we would need all three.

Bit of a weird one. It started with me living in New York and being in Davos (I’ve become a lizard person), and has ended with being locked down back home with my parents on NYE, with my girlfriend sick as a dog (stomach bug, not COVID). Proper rollercoaster.
