Right, now I'm nearly off the hamster wheel that is FIFA, I'll be making a start on the back catalogue I have.

First up is this, well, it would be if I'd ever finished its predecessor, so Red Dead Redemption 1 is where we'll start.

Just finished nailing Bonnie on horseback and now I'm off to see a sheriff.

I'm herding cattle now and dare I say it, the story isn't dreadful so far too.

This is actually quite good.

I'm now working with a cracking Irish stereotype, an elixir based fraud and someone else who I forget.

It's staggering how good this game looks for how old it is.

Yeah I didn't play it until long after it came out and it still looked great.

Never did finish it though.

Likewise, got as far as killing bears, but didn't see it through.

It has cracking weather though. Best "riding a horse through a thunderstorm"ing I'd seen until Witcher 3 came along.

I should get back into this. I want one more big game off my list and I've barely got going with Red Dead.

It's the only reason my old xbox is not buried in a box, I also plan to get around to it one day and then I can try the new one. Gaming 5-10 years behind the curve really is the way forward.

I forgot how long poker takes and now it's all come back to me.

PSA for anyone who plays this via backwards compatibility.

I think it comes with all the DLC pre-installed (bar nightmare), which gives you golden guns by default. This is shit. Here's how to turn them off.

Couldn't find the option in the menu, but the button hold route worked.

Made it to Mexico, which is nice and that's it for the night.

It's a good game, but the missions/endless horse riding do get a bit repetitive.

I don't understand duels in this. Since the death of 2D platformers, I'm genuinely shit at videogames and even I can't seem to get close to losing one.

I think I'm just going to stick to the main missions in this. My first venture into a side mission resulted in being murdered by two dog bites. You know what this game does well? Scale. The landscape is vast.

It is, but there's little point exploring anywhere unless the game sends you there. Which is a shame.

I've noticed health recharges when I'm out and about. So I assume I can lean on that recharge in firefights? Not that combat's difficult at the minute.

Yep, health regenerates in combat.

How far in are you?

About 8 missions in. I've just got a new horse. Old Swindler's Blues is shite. Drive carefully but also this guy's health is a timer. Fuck you.

Next mission fails because I ran someone over. :D

And now it's finished. Decent game and I do like Rockstar when they get away from GTA. I do hate how that Rockstar snark still hangs around, though. Everyone you work with is a cunt apart from Bonnie's lot.
