Some of you will know this format from the Set-Piece Menu podcast.

Someone can do threads for the other traditional pre-season prediction stuff, but here I'd like to try and rigorously assess who is the best pre-season Judge on this website.

Predict the exact order that the Premier League finishes in this season, points for how far off you were at the end of the season, most points wins.

There was something similar (https://www.reddit.com/r/PremierLeague/comments/fa9wx5/remember_when_we_tried_to_predict_the_final/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) on Reddit last season, which was fun to track.

Very tight at the top I think. Any late signings could swing that one way or another. As for the bottom, the bottom 6 probably all deserve to go down.

Initially I had Newcastle down as 18th but there's a lot of tripe (us included) at the sharp end. Brighton and Burnley could flirt with it again and you never know what'll happen with Leeds. West Ham are hard to figure out. They seem destined for the drop but they can dig themselves out of it. For a surprise European qualifier, I'd consider Southampton taking their form into this season. Liverpool and City will be streets ahead.

As long as West Ham get relegated I don't really care. I've lost all interest.

I warmed to West Ham over the post-corona period. They've got a good thing going on with kicking the ball in front of Bowen & Antonio and having them chase it.

Fulham are already down. Strong chance the other two are Newcastle and Palace, I had the former nailed on but unlike Palace they seem to actually be attempting to improve their starting line-up.

City, Liverpool, United, Jose Mourinho, Chelsea, who cares. Unless he miraculously wins other things, Ole Gunnar Binman should be sacked if he doesn't break eighty points.

You're not buying into the idea that he's done a decent job then?

Lewis

He has, and he seems to have the right ideas about transfers and everything else. I just don't think he's a good enough coach to win the league as it currently is, so unless by June you could convince yourself that he's only a player or two away, then, assuming somebody proven is available, I would shuffle him upstairs into the puppet director role they keep touting around.

Isn't Moyes on the verge of walking and they are looking to sell all their talent to balance the books?

I think there's a clear bottom four, then anyone from Newcastle up to Leeds could finish in any order, Southampton are in a league of their own in midtable, Everton, Wolves and Leicester battle for seventh, Man United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal battle for third and Man City and Liverpool will have very close battle at the top.

Everton's two great hopes are a pair of south american midfielders who have never played in England before, what could possibly go wrong.

I'm a little baffled as to why a lot of people are tipping Leeds to have a decent season. They have no goals in them, at all. 17th or below for them. Some bloke on the of the pods said in reference to the upcoming Liverpool-Leeds game "Leeds might just play then off the park for a while, before Liverpool grab a tight victory". :/

Most people don’t watch the championship and the mix of Bielsa and them battering a shit Arsenal for 45 minutes in an FA cup game leads to people thinking they’ll be Pep 0.8.

There's too many good teams and they've looked awful. And Vardy isn't getting any younger. Their squad is probably 8th-10th but I think they'll have an awful start.

Fell off a cliff form wise, partly due to lack of squad depth. The squad is the same size now (Chilwell out, Castange in) and we are about to play a compressed season with Europa league as well.

1 fit centre back for today’s game, key players Maddison and Ricardo still missing.

Anywhere from 7th - 14th i would say at this point.

They will play like that every week and win a lot of games because of it. In their case you can't look down the names and add up their talent, it's not a normal team.

Even I think we're probably going down, although I think having a decent manager and a settled, happy and hungry squad might just be enough to finish above 3 teams IN CRISIS. Like, player for player West Ham are probz better than us, but I reckon we'll finish above them.

Yes, I'm convinced Leeds with be absolutely fine. I just feel like a #bielsaside will find getting 40 or so points in the prem easier than they did getting 90 in the championship. Comfortably top half by about game 25, then a bit of a collapse when their players are all knackered and the other teams have figured out how to nullify them, but still easily safe in like 14th.

Leeds are good, but lol at the overreaction to yesterday. They scored the few chances they created (how often does Van Dijk make that error?), and looked a mess at the back.

Pretty similar to the Norwich game on the opening day of last season.
