I carry on and he's sweating so hard to stop me from scoring outside the box (he also makes it 3-0 and pauses me again) but thankfully Sancho smashes one in. He ends up making it 6-2 as I'm on constant pressure trying to win and he pauses again whilst also doing that shit half macarena celebration.

He also spent ages time wasting after I scored my outside of the box goal as he was scared I'd batter him.

I feel we've suffered with SBC prices since Klaiber came out. He was made far too cheap. Luckily he was the first to break that meta back line by challenging Walker. He also has the Physical to make him outstanding at CB too.

I was feeling like I wanted to do Zambrotta as he looks very good, but this Klaiber talk made me look and just for RBs I already have Klaiber, Tav, Mbabu, Bender and De Sciglio. Seems a bit foolish now looking at that.

I mean Yev takes this to extreme. He has pretty much has his choice of any SBC since November without spending actual coins on maybe 1 or 2 players in it for chemistry reasons. He has it to an art form now.

However even someone like me. I'd say up until the end of last year I had always been a bit daft with my club. All the big SBCs I wanted were done from coins and I always took coins in my rewards and turned my nose up at upgrade packs.
Now in the last week or so I've completed Vidal, Sanches and Reus. That's about 1.7m worth of SBC players give or take on PlayStation. Yes I've put some Objective players in but I've spent less than 100k and have also pretty much gained most of it back through the packs back.

The only thing my squad misses right now is a proper keeper. Maybe some Brazilian forward type too...

Started on the Weekend League using the squad below with 2 changes. Gold Burki in goal, he's my only full chem keeper in the club and I've put Bender in over Boateng.

Boateng did start the first 4 games, but I kept facing those who quickly ping the passes between a front 2/3, he suffers with his low acceleration.

Early thoughts. That midfield pairing is just unfair. I tend to play 4-4-2 with Sanches LM and Aouar RM with Deco in the centre but in every game pretty much, Deco has gone off at half time and Sanches has moved to the middle. I also decided to stump up 315k on a fresh Neymar as his price was crashing. He's been the one coming on to play LM. He has 8 and in 4 in his 7 games.
I've been scoring for fun with this. 4+ in all but 1 game. The goals seem to be spreading nicely around now after Messi was finished hogging them all. I find myself 7-1. The defeat was a 4-3 loss in which I just kept hitting the woodwork. I'm still unsure how I actually lost.

I don't like the full backs at all. I have mine set to get forward and neither have an assist or goal yet. Quite disappointing, but currently I need them for chemistry.

This where I am and it likely explains why I'm having a great time with the game at the moment. I feel like my playing the game way has paid off and these players are a joy to use.

Unfortunately for you, with how stacked your club has come to be there's little in the way of upgrades on offer to you until either A) We get the Icons we actually want to see in SBCs or B) TOTS hits.

Back to the Icons. It's a shame we didn't get Pirlo like this in say December. I'd have loved to get him in, even for a sentimental start as I loved him as a player(save for May of 2007). As it is now, I imagine him coming up against my midfield of Vidal and Sanches to not end well for him.

There's a balance to be struck, the question for me is less about how they improve your team as much as whether they fulfil what you're looking for from the game. If you wanna horde cards, or play with multiple line ups and have the perfect big players to drop into MM games for any given requirement, then that's fulfilling in itself.

Either way, I like what EA have done, albeit as usual the community at large seems to view it negatively, U aV GIveN uS 2 maNy GaMEs 2 PlaY! EA do play a part in this though, as they trade off of FOMO.

For me, I'll not be in much for a while. Hit a bad place over the past week in terms of my mental wellbeing, in a way I haven't for perhaps a decade, and FIFA grinding isn't a good place for me with that in mind, particularly as I play mostly late at night and one of the things I'm really struggling with is my sleep.

On a positive, I'm exiting with this, with no Fifa pts spent and 2 spells of playing for about 8 weeks each, with a bloody great gap in the middle:

On 100 chem, with Camavinga, Diatta and de Sciglio on 8 chem. Alternatively, Klaiber at RB on. 10, and Robben at LM on 10.

Wright is a great one touch finisher, albeit his passing lets him down. Mbappe is just perfect, a provider with his great passing for Wright and still more lethal as well. Took me a while to get going with him but he's up from 10 goals in 15 to 93 in 62 now.

Stacked bench too, FB Lucas normally comes on at RM, with Dest at LB and Klaiber at RB on 60 mins as my full backs get a proper workout.

I never did do a WL post mortem so here goes. I ended up 14-3. The midfield and attack pretty much is perfect for me, but the defence is... off. De Sciglio is just not a full back. He has no presence going forwards. Gunter is a bit better but he's not quite got the dribbling. I also paid out 315k to put Neymar on my bench. Oh boy is he fun. The plan was to sell him back. I bought him Sunday evening as I expected that to be his cheapest point. Turns out I was wrong. He's been down as low as 285k since.
I was going to sell to do Kehrer before he expired at 6, but the 35k loss of coins put me off. Looks like by the PSG game the right call was made.
I'm hoping to sell if he gets near 320k again and crossing my fingers that my rewards allow me to do Neres. He doesn't have the 5* WF but looks great value otherwise. I don't expect an upgrade here but he looks great even without it. If rewards are crap I'll likely just keep Neymar. I do however need a better keeper.

I've since dropped into Rivals and now find myself hanging around 21xx skill rating quite comfortably. I've also switched back to out swinging corners this weekend and I've scored a fair few goals from them. Not just the conventional way either. Here's my two finest efforts:

Yeh it’s on the up. There’ve been a few moments I’ve been noticeably down since Xmas really, but it turned into full on melancholia over the past couple of weeks. The missus has been working her arse off this year after her industry (Film) shutdown for much of 2020 and its left me on my lonesome a heck of a lot - she’s out 12-15 hours a day, obviously that’s like many, and usually I’m cool with (I’m an only child, I need the space much of the time) but I think the combo of that and feeling really very much caged in and work being utter toss tipped me over. Which then I feel guilty about being in so much better a situation than most. Had a bit of reflection over the weekend and spent time Sunday/Monday talking to the missus and the (very supportive) boss and got myself in a more positive state as it is.

But, as I say when struggling with sleep and purpose, Fifa for me isn’t a positive thing, the grind/fomo becomes pernicious.

Decided to see how rewards went as I had one eye on that Icon SBC. From my 2 x Ultimate packs, 4 Megas and the 50k pack I got 1 x 85 and that was fucking it.

I even struggled to do Neres with what it gave out('mon Ajax). Quite the buzzkill after last week.

You could well be right. The crap positioning combined with odd workrates for a RB kills it for me. He is however a very good CB.

Indeed. I think the higher sections of him will dramatically lower in price once TOTS hits. I expect him to end up nearer 700k from scratch.

The same guy I got my bonkers all-out 4-3-3 has come up with a 3-4-2-1 than I fancy trying. I don't exactly have the players to suit the system, but I want to see if the system has merit. I'll still just be playing to the 2nd red pick, but it'll be interesting to see how it fares.

I've been using 4-3-1-2 a bit recently. It's nice and compact but attacking enough. You need decent fullbacks for the width though otherwise you don't have enough angles. Berchiche has been surprisingly great.

I wasn't a fan of NIF Neuer but did like TOTY Neuer for the 1 WL I used him.

He puller out more saves and he didn't use that shit falling to one knee and watching the ball go past him animation as much.

Schmeichel > RTTF Oblak > TOTY Neuer.

I went on with the 3-4-2-1 and it has great potential. Though it clearly is not a one tactic fits all solution.

I'm 5-0 for the first time in a long time. My first 4 opponents were blitzed away by it, though the very first game highlighted a problem to come. If I don't aggressively cut out the counter pass, I'm left chasing down a through ball. I thought I'd made a great tackle to stop him last man but the game gave a foul and red card. I just kept 2 at the back and pushed for goals. The game ended with Neres' first goal for the club:

The formation very much punishes those who drag defenders out of position. There's always a pass on or an overlap. The 3 forwards always stay forward too, so anyone with wandering full backs is in trouble.
The downside is my players are in the main not suited to it. I have Deco at LF but he's just not sharp enough to be running in behind when he needs to. Gunter at LM also is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none.

It's also, probably obviously, not great defensively. My last game was against a possession player who kept the ball in my 3rd for what felt like all of the first half. He has 65% possession and a 2-0 lead. I hadn't even had a shot. I had to switch it up and luckily it got me back into it and I won in ET. Opponent couldn't take the loss though and he's still messaging me 45 mins later about it...

There isnt some type of SBC where you get to pick a player from your favourite team and you get to rank up the player based on challenges. You get the player from the start if you play enough games. You can get him to 99 rated if you put the grind in. That would be great.

Weekend league is once again done.

After resuming 5-0 the streak continued in what can be described as sludgy gameplay. I tried out Boras' 4-1-2-1-2 this evening and enjoyed it a lot. I got to 9-0 which matches my longest winning start in Champs, but fell in game 10. He was a very good player and had Prime Maldini and Mid R9. Both of them a thorn in my side. Still I gave him my best but came up short in a 5-4 loss.

After that I picked it up and quite comfortably won out to finish 14-1. Though two of those opponents quit out after I scored with my first attack.

One thing I will say about the side is that Deco is starting to be left behind. Everything else forward of the full backs is great. But the Birthday additions of Aouar and Sanches, adding 5* WF to my midfield is great. Vidal is a proper enforcer too. I'd like to move him out, but he's so vital to chemistry.

It's been pretty quiet my end - after finishing Choudhury off a couple of weeks ago, I've barely played. Last couple of days I've hopped back on to try and finally finish the Icon Swaps tokens, and I just need 4 more games with a goal using my Serie A team, and a Prime/PIM Icon will be mine. I'll probably roulette it for the maximum disappointment shortly.

Despite not playing, I did some packs and player picks last week when they were back available, and I've had some decent luck along the way. Firstly, Mbappe walked out of a Rare Mega Pack, probably the first good card I've had from those this year. I still haven't used him yet though. Can't bring myself to put him in as he's just a bit boring now.

Last year I have made a similar thread to this one and it helped a lot of people with their questions about TOTS. So I have decided to make another one this year and I hope that his one helps you too.

I have seen a lot of questions in the sub about TOTS dates, rewards, picks and etc, and I thought that it would be a good idea to answer them all here so everyone can find what they are looking for.

The Calendar

First of all the dates. Which league comes when ? Last year EA released a big league in Friday and a minor league in Monday. This year, similarly we have an official starting date with the Community TOTS and EFL on the 23rd of April. The order of the leagues below in the calendar are the in the same order as last years and the dates are provisional until confirmed and will be updated accordingly with a green tick when officially announced.

April 23rd: Community TOTS and EFL ✅
April 30th: Premier League
May 3rd: Saudi League
May 7th: Liga Santander
May 10th: Liga Nos
May 14th: Bundesliga
May 17th: Turkish Super League
May 21st: Seria A
May 24th: Eredivisie + CSL

June 4th: Ultimate TOTS

Guaranteed TOTS SBC

Last year there were 2 Guaranteed TOTS SBCs released every week (1 for the major league and 1 for the minor league in packs). Once we see the pattern of releasing these SBCs in the first week, this section will be updated accordingly.

Wednesday: Guaranteed TOTS SBC from the minor league released in Monday (2 days before)
Wednesday: Guaranteed TOTS SBC from the big league released in Friday (5 days before)

League SBC player picks

Tuesday: The additional 4th league sbc player picks (both for the major and the minor league released that week) are coming in Tuesday.

WL Rewards and Picks

Probably the most asked questions in the sub and to be fair the most important one. Who gets what in the weekend league rewards ? Well, the rewards are the same as the whole year for every rank, but there are couple of changes:

Silver 2 and Silver 3: Your TOTS player pick gets capped at 88 rating. That means the max TOTS player you can get, is an 88 overall one.
Silver 1 and Gold 3: Your player picks contain a TOTS player from a minor league or a big league (you are not guaranteed a TOTS player from a big league).
Gold 2 and above: Your player picks contain a TOTS player from a minor league or a big league (you are guaranteed at least one TOTS player from the big league in each of your player picks)
TOTW Packs: The TOTW Packs for Elite3 and above players now contain a tradable amount of TOTS players from the big league, depending on the rank. Also, your TOTW(TOTS) packs are locked for the specific league that you played your Weekend League for. Also saved TOTW packs before the start of TOTS will not transfer over and contain TOTS players inside.

It seems the pack gods were on my side this week. A walkout in pretty much every pack.

Started with the 84+ pick. In which were a CL Neuer and TOTS Helik. Choosing the former allows me to sell my tradeable one and once again go full first owner. Then we move onto the packs. First Rare Mega has TOTS Zielinski along with Smith-Rowe MOTM. Next pack had IF 86 Yarmechuk. A couple of board packs and then my first Ultimate had Benzema in. The 2nd had a few 85s but no walkout. Then came the 83+ x 10. I ended up with Oblak, Dybala, The Woj and Verratti from it. Some serious fodder.

The decision is where to put it? Luckily I've no dupes so nothing needs using right this second, but there are many options.

Prices on all SBCs have taken a massive dive so it's only things with 88/89 squads that will cost much. I could quite easily have a Zambrotta or even an Essien in the club by tomorrow if I worked at it now. There's also the likes of Aguero there to be done.

Nice 5-0 start to WL. I'm expecting the pain to come in full later. I've only faced 2 TOTS cards so far. One was Gouldson and one was AWB as a CB. The latter was a pain in the ass to get around but the opponent kept pulling him out of position so it was a bit easier.

I've sold TOTS Zielinski on. His 4*/5* looked good, but in truth he was defensively and physically lacking. The club kitty is up to 470k.

I find myself looking at TOTS Bailey. He would strong link Bender to RB in the 4-5-1, however this does start to fuck about with my sides chemistry after that. The problem both is and isn't Deco. He's not too bad in game, but he's currently the glue that holds the chemistry at 100. A different Icon would solve this somewhat, but with there being no upgrade packs out of any kind that would mean rinsing the club funds.

Chemistry is a right pain now though with so many nationalities in my squad. I can't really build what I want to.

Continued on to 8-0 the streak did. Everything was going well. Then I eventually hit the better player I knew I would. Gave him a good game, but he absolutely ruined me with ASMs 85 card.

Went into the next game after a little break and came up against that 4-4-2 with 2 CDMs. He was an ultimate counter player. It's been a while since I lost to a guy like this but he got me. Quite annoyingly I managed to draw him out 3 times for that hollywood through ball, only for CR7 to take a heavy touch and have the keeper sweep it up. I managed to go all out attack and level it 2-2 in the 84th, but then my players did not switch back to my normal formation in time and he played through me.

I'm 8-2, but if you'd offered me that at the start I'd happily take it.

Fuck me it's been tough slogging tonight. After an 8-0 start I fell to 9-4. I slipped back into my old groove of conceding late goals to lose the game, 3 games running. It feels like I've played Div 1 all day rather than Champs. As if there's been no ELO.

I have recovered to 14-5, but that's with flat out stealing 2 games. Both saw me having little of the ball, not by choice. One as low as 32% possession.

I feel like I need a shower after playing through it. I do have 11 games left but I'm not sure if I should, or if I should save those for better Rivals rewards.

If those picks are still there Thursday I may double dip, open all of my packs and rinse them through upgrades, then save those for the new TOTS on Friday. It's also getting time to need to do an SBC to start clearing fodder.

Very much having trouble putting a team together I really like and that improves upon my current first XI. Even the squad I built with Vidal/Sanches isn't clicking. Seem to always be one player short or a bit lopsided.

I also can't help but get a bit annoyed at these SBCs they're putting out. A lot of the players you want have something "wrong" with them. What would be the harm in giving Digne 93/94 pace? Same for that Aguero card.
I don't think he's any better than Tagliafico but he's priced over 100k more to boot.

I was right about the community one so I stuck my TOTS Mullins in there and got TOTS Bailey back. A great addition to the bench at the very least.

Due to this anything Bundesliga would be helpful as the team is really leaning that way defensively.

Opened my reds and pick 1 contained Areola, Illicic, Nkunku and Clarke-Harris. I like them all here but as previous, Nkunku was the most valuable one so I took him, he's also Bundesliga so that helps big time.
I'd have loved to see Alaba, but pick 2 was much more as I expected. Kean along with 3 low rated EFL guys. I took Kean as that now frees up his TOTS card I have for a future SBC.

Sat on 500k and some decent but not amazing fodder. I feel like the team needs a changeup for the coming weekend as it's been 3 weeks or so since it did. I'd love something to go at SBC wise to go in, but there's only really Essien or Zambrotta that I could get in now. I'm not really sure Zambrotta is the way right now as I've a load of defenders anyway, but he does look really good.

I got Rodri done in 2 sittings last night. Nobody seemed to want to leave at 1-0, but 2-0 got most out. Looks a good card let down by low pace. Not sure if he becomes pure fodder at this point or not.

I did use a loan Essien and King Kenny. Both felt very nice. The former like a juiced up version of that BD Vidal. The latter is very sentimental obviously but I loved the finishing and 5* WF.
Completing their SBCs is a tricky one though. Kenny is 1m on the nose. I reckon I could get a couple of his bigger squads done with club items but it'd likely be half and half coins.
Essien I could do now if I wanted. Likely mostly free, but then I'd be out of fodder. I also completely forgot Aguero.

This leads me to time for taking an honest look at the club.

I play with 1 team only and now have a lot of cards rated 85-88 that were objectives or SBCs that are now pretty redundant. There's a lot of SBCs about they could go into. The TOTS influx has nearly filled out my bench. This leads me to look at the Icons, but the things are all expiring in 6 hours.

I did want to try and get Schmeichel, but the Portuguese City trio all look real nice and obviously perfectly link in a nice line. I also reckon there's likely to be a lot of Ederson in peoples red picks. I can't be spending 250ks worth of Fodder on a keeper only to replace him a week later.

The theory I heard on Reddit was that they're saving the 98/99 kinda level cards for the European Championships in the summer.

I'm thinking Rodri might be a decent CB? I'll bash through it and get him in the club but was thinking of trying him out there. Maybe get RTTF Cancelo and using him to link to Sanches. Atal is the one I want but his price has shot up.

I've decided against Kenny. I brought his loan into my WL push last night. Albeit I was in a rut in the middle of a loss streak, but I put him in over CR7 and he wasn't that much better enough to make me clear my club for him.

Speaking of said struggle, I was going along pretty nicely at 16-6 and then hit the loss streak. 5 games on the run. I'd have stopped after a couple, but the thought of 1 more win being weekend over kept me going. I'd say over half of my games were against some kind of drop back tactic, with someone instantly launching a through ball in behind. Sarr was the scourge of my weekend. Cannavaro is unable to deal with him. And here's another video to sum up my weekend:

In any case I finish on 17-11. Some team changes are much needed for next weekend. Specifically in defence. My fullbacks not fitting well is one thing, but my backline is all nimble, but lean. I'd love to maybe try Dias as he looks an upgrade on Fabio in pretty much every way. If my reds allow a link up to Cancelo, even better. If not, I'll do Zambrotta. That is assuming no other Icons come out.

The red picks situation will be interesting. If you look at the team on FUTBIN (https://www.futbin.com/21/totw/TOTS-PL) you can cut it in half. Anything forwards of the defence will be amazing to get. Anything defence wise is decent, whereas the bench is a bit meh. Mount looks good, but the other 2 midfielders are cheap enough to buy anyway. Vardy would be okay, but he looks like he needs to be used a certain way.

I've been using Dalglish and Essien to try them out in the Rodri friendlies - the former is fine, but doesn't feel special, whereas Essien has been great. Think I still prefer Kante/Makelele in the destroyer role but he's a beast.

I think the best you can do is if you get them both on full chem is then having either have Neymar (8) and Cancelo (7) or Shaw and Cancelo (both 7) off chem.

He seems to move very fluidly, he is incredibly agile and the ball seems to stick to his feet plus he has mental shooting traits.

In the second match the guy tried to foul him by sliding him from behind (he had already added a second goal) and he just decided not to go down which left an easy finesse shot round the keeper.

I think against really good opposition they'll try showing him on his weak foot seeing as it's only 3* but that outside foot shot trait will help a lot with that.

I ended up completing Essien last night, but nothing exciting out of the packs. He looks like an absolute unit and I liked his loan card when I used it in friendlies. Plus should let me chuck Mid Desailly, who's a solid CB but can't cut it in midfield any more.

Currently at 3-0 which is a little surprising as my eyes are a mess today. First two games were against guys who were great at keeping possession and not much else, I had less of the ball than I usually do in a match but I felt in total control. Especially against the first who would move his way down the pitch, turn back, piss about and then take a wild shot from distance.

Third match was against someone good at keeping the ball but also very good at taking apart my defence. I was 4-2 up at HT but his Prime Cantona caused so many problems and managed to get it to 4-4, thankfully I got the winner and saw the game out.

Puskas has been mega so far, he can be quiet for most of the game then all of a sudden he finds an inch of space and he can produce some magic. 7 goals and 1 assist in the 3 games so far. He also links up really well with POTM2 Bruno.

I'll get to 11 wins as I can't be arsed pushing after last weekend and due to my eyes.

Bought Ruben Dias and have played 4 with Isak up top too. I'm 4-0 and Isak has scored 9. 3 of these opponents have been a fair bit worse than me but he feels good. Speaking of feeling good, the other guy I faced probably was better than me, but Dias and Zambrotta were immense. I couldn't break the guy down, but I did lash in 3 long range finesse shots from Messi to take it.

Best method I've got so far is pick a keeper, 5 rares then 5 commons then just mash them around for chem. Or go league by league to rinse through shit leagues first.
