Games of the Decade

I love a list so inspired by Henners' post in the film thread (and the masses of these that are probably knocking about online), lets do a games one.

I've partly googled lists for inspiration / to jog my memory, partly tried to just remember (lol) and partly tried to use those Wikipedia "[year] in video gaming" articles but I have almost certainly forgotten something, and there are definitely things I've not played yet that I fancy would have a chance of cracking this. I tried to put them in order and Witcher 3 is definitely top but after that I struggled to decide so basically consider it as Witcher 3 and then the other 9 in no particular order. Shadow of Mordor nearly got in because I love the Nemesis system that much and which of the Arkham games is my favourite varies by mood. I may come back to this before the month is out.

I wouldn't have counted anything like that or remasters and things for mine but, y'know, who am I to decide?

I'm not sure I've even played 10 games this year (EDIT: brain clearly off when I entered the thread. I expect I've managed 10 this decade but I doubt I could name ten). Divinity OS2 is top of any list I could put together though. Fantastic game; haven't got into an RPG to that extent since Dragon Age: Origins.

Arkham Asylum was not this decade. Arkham City is alright.

So it wasn't. As you say, City will do because what it lost in Asylum being so tightly put together it made up for in me loving an open space to tool around in.

I enjoyed GTA V in a way that I happily rattled through it without it leaving any lasting mark on me whatsoever.

I do fancy HZD though and would definitely play it if it comes to PC at any point, or if I buy a PS4 once they're cheap because they're outdated.

To me GTA 5 is a lot like Avatar. It was released to bonkers hype and made an obscene amount of money, but left no cultural footprint.

I mean, I may have joined a Satanic cult and I may have agreed to an all night orgy but I didn't think it was going in that direction.

Eating all the prisoners in my dungeon afterwards is all on me though.

My character got the trait 'Lunatic' so I feel like my decisions are justified.

And yes, DLC of some sort, I filled out my collection in the sale.

I haven't bought much of the recent DLC as I found myself struggling to find a game to get into.
