View Full Version : TTH Decides - Your Favorite Eleven

I will be creating something similar to the super tournament Baz created.

https://www.thethirdhalf.co.uk/showthread.php?2409-TTH-Super-Tournament-2019

It will be for your favourite player in each position from the 90s to the present day. Either a 442 or a 433 formation. We will have to vote on that also. you will have 10 players to pick from each position. As a test, ive listed 10 left-backs below. Have I missed anyone who should be there?

Roberto Carlos
Gianluca Zambrotta
Philipp Lahm
Bixente Lizarazu
Ashley Cole
Patrice Evra
Marcelo
Denis Irwin
Jordi Alba
Frank de Boer

This is just a test at the moment but rank each player. The highest gets one point and the lowest gets 8 points. The player with the LEAST amount of points gets select into TTH Eleven for that postion. A round-robin would take too long per position.

Maldini...

Waffles is going to have something to say about that list.

Didn't Lahm play on the right?

Dave.
19-08-2019, 11:27 AM
Frank De Boer played most of his career as a centre back and not a left back.

SvN
19-08-2019, 11:31 AM
Obviously Maldini is missing.

Jimmy Floyd
19-08-2019, 11:33 AM
Maldini in for Frank and that's a good ten.

Sir Andy Mahowry
19-08-2019, 11:33 AM
Zambrotta was more of a RB too.

SincereTheRebel
19-08-2019, 11:34 AM
If Frank de Boer, Zambrotta and Lahm are removed. Is anyone else worth to take their place?

SvN
19-08-2019, 11:36 AM
If Irwin is in there, Evra probably should be.

Spikey M

Where is Ashley Young?

niko_cee
19-08-2019, 11:38 AM
Ronald Koeman? Although he's another more of a centre-half type.

niko_cee
19-08-2019, 11:47 AM
I reckon I'd go with a back four of Maldini, Koeman, Sammer, Thuram. 1990s ftw (I assume this is a players you've seen type thing).

I doubt I could come up with ten worthy players for most positions. My memory really is worryingly bad in a lot of ways.

You’ve missed out Andy Robertson.

You’ve missed out Andy Robertson.

Might as well add Gael Clichy if that is the case.

Can I include my favourite FM regens? Anderson is one of my best players in FM15 just now.

Although I'm in the year 2040 so I dunno if he fits the criteria.

Dave.
19-08-2019, 12:23 PM
David Alaba could be included in the list too but played in midfield at international level and quite a bit at club level (?) towards the end of his career. Probably better to have him than De Boer though.

Alan Hutton.

Have everybody submit their top however many, whittle that down top five with the most nominations and then get votes on that.

Just reeling off a list of 10 of your own was never going to work. Especially if you're going to leave off the best ever.

You also missed my left back from the 'Bastards XI' thread or whatever it was called on the old board where I couldn't think of a proper shithouse left back so I just went for Harold Shipman.

SincereTheRebel

This really isnt going to work.

/threadA better option might be to use https://www.allourideas.org/ and make 9 separate “surveys” for each position (gk, dr, dl, dc, mr, ml, dm, am, st) with an absolute TON of choices for each - maybe get everyone to contribute to the big long lists? Then send out the links and just let people vote in each as many time as they wish, until a number one for each (well, two for the centrebacks and strikers).

How that site works is it gives everyone a choice of two, eg Shearer OR Cantona and the person votes for which they think is better.

I made one for the premier league prediction thing but didn’t end up using it (yet) but you can see how it works here: https://www.allourideas.org/tippl

Are you mixing up Alaba and Lahm? The former is twenty seven.

I'd like to nominate Aaron Wan Bissaka for the 'slider tackler' position.

Lewis

My favourite XI:

Fabien Barthez

Patrice Evra (of his post-2009 forgot how to defend vintage)
Nemanja Vidic
Rio Ferdinand
John O'Shea

Roy Keane
Paul Scholes

Rivaldo
Wayne Rooney
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Cristiano Ronaldo

Sir Andy Mahowry

Can John O'Shea be nominated for every position?

Thank you.

I've spent half my life convinced that had Jermaine Jenas not absolutely robbed him of Young Player of the Year neither of them would have become crap.

Dave.

No mix up, just wrote that a bit wrong. I believe Alaba has been playing in midfield for his club in recent times? Definitely plays there for his country. Can't believe he's only 27, been around forever!

I would like to pick this up again. Give me a list of goalkeepers we can add as favourites and then you can vote and determine who is number. 20 players for each position would be a good number to work from. We can vote from a few formations too. Im sure there is a debate between 442 and 433

Iker Casillas
Peter Shilton
Edwin van der Sar
Manuel Neuer
Sepp Maier
Gordon Banks
Dino Zoff
Lev Yashin
Petr Cech
Jose Luis Chilavert
Dida
Angelo Peruzzi
Franseco Toldo
David Seamen
Fabien Barthez
Oliver Kahn
Jens Lehmann
Víctor Valdes
Gianluigi Buffon
Peter Schmeichel
John O'shea
Ray Clemence

Anyone else deserve a mention?

The title says favourite. Are we picking or favourite, or who we think is/was the best?

Like my favourite goalkeeper might be Sander Westerveld but I know he's not as good as Edwin van der Sar.

Also. three time European Cup winner Ray Clemence should be in the discussion.
