Nothing beats the sight of Tony Adams in full flight leathering it past whoever was in goal for Everton, even if it wasn't as drama-laden as other offerings (I assume they'd won the league by this point).

From memory I think they had to win that game to win it, and that was the fourth in a 4-0, so it was a good crowner.
I also seem to remember Liverpool smoking them in a dead game afterwards, mind.

Yeah, I always had that in my mind as their last game of the season, but apparently not.

Same. Had it down as the last of a 4-0 against Everton (in the blazing sunshine), but was sure it was the last game of the season.

Fair. I enjoy the setup for that one, where it's smart to come in with two dead characters. Once you're into the routine you've got it, but there's a hairy few turns at the start when you're getting the pieces in place.
Emerald has the fun game where you try and minimize your materia coming in.

I don't know about the only one. Premier Manager 98 on the PS1 was decent.
97 on the PC was my favourite. The sheer speed and turning off aging allowed multistarred players.
Actually, there was one management game before LMA manager that was alright. It had a "skip to end" button for matches, which I loved - especially against cannon fodder. Loads of games seemed to end up with mental scorelines such as 6-4, 7-3, etc.
Can't remember for the life of me what it was.

I had one of the LMA Manager games. Probably 2001. Inter were the best team to be on it, and the only formation that actually seemed to work was 3-4-3. Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba were the two best players on the game (Diego Tristan and Patrick Kluivert were mega too), and Mohamed Kallon became equally brilliant after a couple of seasons, so you were set, and then you could spend most of your time doing all the weird shit like choosing the advertising hoardings. The match engine was about a decade ahead of Football Manager as well.

Whoever made USM obviously wanted a functioning economy with transfers and other stuff rising over time but they clearly didn't bank on people playing very far into the future because you'd end up with scarves costing hundreds of pounds and a full on roast dinner (I'm sure these were included) for about a grand.

I got into NC when Lazarus came out. Loved it. Started getting into some of his older stuff. Then PTSA came out and I found it totally underwhelming. Couldn't get into it at all. Basically gave up with it and then saw NC at Glastonbury in 2013 and he did We No Who U R, Jubilee Street and Push The Sky Away and everything just clicked. In an instant. Since then, it's been my favourite NC album. Do agree that HBB is incredible too, but the other two are just insanely brilliant.

There was a very weird time, and I'm guessing this was fairly precisely 1997, where for schoolyard survival it was imperative to have a strong opinion about Spice Girls rankings. I never really knew which one was which, but learned quickly that if you ranked 'Emma' at the top, you didn't get laughed at. All of the others were a bit of a risk.
