Slightly more than Peter Schmeichel was a Man City great.

Xhaka pulling out of a tackle so he didn't foul the player and then reaching out a random arm at the bloke as he goes past which allowing him to dive is peak Arsenal defending in this era.

Don't know what I'd rather get angrier at, us winning both games and finishing 5th meaning chucking that game at Palace was annoying, or chucking this one and ruling it out entirely

Spurs have been absolutely saved by the fecklessness of Arsenal and United. 1 win in 5 for each of them, and probably not much better before then. Spurs have lost 9 out of their last 10 away games (in all comps) apparently. :|

It's still on if Arsenal *checks notes* beat Burnley 9-0
I wish we played like that more often. We can actually have a go against most teams. I can accept ten outfielders camped inside our six yard box vs Man City but against just about everyone else we can have a proper go, at least for periods in a game. It's certainly a lot more fun and I don't think many fans want another season like this one (in the league).

Because you don't want to play for an unproven manager who has won fuck all. Now you realize if you're hurt you're stuck in this mess for at least an entire new season, so you go out and do "just enough" but don't overexert yourself and start angling for a move away from the club. *shrug*

What are the changes of City actually dropping points to Brighton? Also, aren't Wolves sneaky decent?
Wolves will hold Liverpool to a draw and Brighton will get a last minute equaliser in scenes reminiscent of 1995.
Mane will be playing Andy Cole.

I'd fancy Wolves more had Liverpool been in front in the league, as it is I think Liverpool will win. Chances are extremely remote that Brighton will get anything against City. They're generally hopeless, and extra hopeless against speedy technical midgets. Brighton will need to score, which is frankly unlikely unaided, and City will have to concede, which it doesn't feel like they've done for about 2 months. You never know though.
I'd go as far as to say Brighton's only chance would be a first minute Alexander-Arnold style handball on the line red card penalty, and even were that to happen, it'd be 50-50, at best.
They won't even grow the grass long or dry the pitch out, the massive plebs.

The list of teams rival fans want to see do well must be pretty fucking short, if it even exists.
The fact Liverpool have got where they are without full-on despotic ownership only adds fuel to the dislike fire I would imagine, as per Lewis' theory.
Even Leicester, the feelgood miracle of the century, fans turned into absolute arseholes in the wake of their success (to mirror the fact most of their players were existing but overlooked bellends). It's football fandom, if you like other teams you're doing it wrong in most circumstances.

I think the league is all over and done, both sides will win on Sunday. Then in the summer City will go and spend silly money again to make sure nobody wins it other than them again next season. I could see them going on to win year after year for a little while too. They're just unreal.
Been a super exciting season, the last title challenge we had was a hard watch, it felt like it could all fall apart at any moment and eventually did, this time around it's felt very much like we're going to win each week, which has made easier viewing, just a shame we're against maybe the best side the league has ever had.

Pipe down nobend, Liverpool fans have spent about the last 20 years more invested in how Man Utd fare than their own team.
Easy that though eh.
The last 24 hours is why football is so utterly fantastic.
Barcelona as the Champions League's supreme bottlers the last two or three years is just wonderful stuff.
Trent. My word.
Barca were actually asleep in the second half. Mentally wet.
Er Liverpool fans, go out and get pissed ffs.

That was brilliant.
I've watched all 4 legs of Barca vs Utd and Liverpool and I thought they've looked shite for the vast majority. Nowhere near as fluid as they used to be. I know it's hard to replace Xavi and Iniesta, but Vidal and Busquettes feels far too clunky going forward, but not even protecting the back 4 that much.

Nuts. Klopp's assembled a proper unit in his time there. Runners up in the Europa League, Champions League, league (at very least) in the space of a few years. Spurs need to be right up for tomorrow. And the London lot for Thursday, whilst we're at it.

You'd have to imagine that's it as good as won now.
It's not even Liverpool's best comeback ever, I'd have Milan over that.
Although I don't think there was anybody in that Milan team whose sadness entertains me as some of the Barcelona dickheads so it's close.

08-05-2019, 06:42 AM
Obligatory reminder of Fulham 4-1 Juventus, although I think even I can appreciate there have been more meaningful comebacks in the Champions League.
Barcelona were truly awful, weren't they? So many misplaced passes, and there's just no creative spark when Messi isn't getting the ball. At 3-0 you just knew that was it and Liverpool had it won.
I assume some publication or another has still given Messi 8/10. In the United home leg he was basically absent other than the assist and getting biffed by Mike Smalling and I still saw a few places give him man of the match.
I'd forgotten that Fulham one.

I most probably would. They could win ten champions leagues for me so long as they don't win the premier league. I still reckon they'll win both unfortunately. City are sailing too close to the wind against shite lately and you can take the CL as won already.

Also, these second leg whomping comebacks are becoming fairly commonplace now. Are footballers more mentally fragile than they used to be? Not even too many Frenchmen in the Barcelona team.
niko_cee
08-05-2019, 09:40 AM
Both Barcelona's capitulations in recent seasons have come on the back of first leg results which in no way reflected the games. Roma were unfeasibly unlucky against them last year, as were Liverpool this year. Liverpool probably played better in the Nou Camp than they did last night. PSG's was more of a bottle job.
Bernanke
