That spire isn't there any more either.

I blame the yoofs.

"We're running out of funding for this thing." Followed by fire. Sneaky Catholics.

Great site for a new mosque.

Looks like it's pretty much gone. Was it made out of matchsticks and cladding?

The full thing will probably collapse if that much already has.

It went up so quickly, that old plaster must be basically paper.

First two posts since I've opened facebook:

"Well, if one day I go to Paris I won't be able to visit Notre Dame :("

Next,

"As an atheist my heart breaks. This was a bucket list item for me. So much history gone. I would of loved to go inside and witness the calm and peacefulness of this amazing structure."

Unfuckinreal.

Twitter is filling hilarious about this. It's like a competition to see who can come across as the most hurt.

"As a flying buttress, this fire is going to reverse decades of progress made by our people"

There were two people at work being incredibly dramatic over it. One woman was “nearly crying” when she saw the news the other was just over the top in shock.

They'll build it again, like they did the other times. This happens to pretty much every famous landmark.

"This is incredibly depressing, especially since I once climbed the spire of #NotreDame almost 10 years ago."

what the fuck is wrong with folks

"As a person who fucks buildings, I'm at a loss."

Where are those tweets, twitter?

Are we going to see the first minutes silence for a building?

Jimmy Floyd

A lot of it seems to have survived so just might just be a tricolour beamed onto the side of Croydon Ikea.

Apparently the French CONNECT with it in a special way and have attached to it untold levels of emotion and pride.

Catholics too.

Can't think who would take satisfaction from razing that to the ground. :harold:

I’m sick of seeing these self important posts mourning the loss on Twitter. Can you mute a hashtag?

You can indeed. Settings and Privacy > Notifications > Muted > Muted Words.

It's the best feature on Twitter.

It doesn’t even look that much different at all. Celtic and Liverpool fans are in bits.

This thread is magical! The other forum I’m on is full of people crying over this. It’s just a building!
I can ‘get’ why people are sad if someone famous they liked died but a building catching fire....

It's sad, I guess but it's hardly Primark in Belfast, is it?

A Cathedral getting burnt to the ground is literally the best thing that ever happened to Coventry.

I went to Lichfield Cathedral on a school trip when I was in year 8, feel a bit shaken having read the news this morning.

I think the only grounds for lolling at France over this is through the idea that it 'survived' the Second World War. Well, yeah.
