Hello!

Three years ago we all clubbed together and raised £563. This helped The Third Half buy a legitimate forum license from vBulletin and move servers to a bigger, more stable one. Because of these unforeseen upgrades, the original plan of buying ten years hosting was obviously scuppered. The monthly cost to keep this place afloat is approximately £11 a month, depending on the exchange rate and usage.

SvN has put the word out that the existing kitty will run dry around August 2019 so we could do with another round of fundraising. Last time I used GoFundMe and the sneaky sods took a percentage of all the donations, so this time we shall use Paypal Money Pool, who reportedly won’t take a cut.

Donate here: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8b379JwgTn

You can choose to remain anonymous (hide your real name) if you wish, and there is an option to add a little message if you wish to include your forum username to show you have contributed. All donations are publicly viewable on the Money Pool page.

You do not have to donate and will receive no extra perks for donating. All money will go towards the running costs of TheThirdHalf.co.uk

Thanks to everyone who has donated previously and to everyone who does so again. You really are a lovely bunch. :)

Is there a way to donate without signing up to PayPal?

Is there a way to donate without signing up to PayPal?I didn’t anticipate this.

Do you need a PayPal account to contribute to a Money Pool?

Yes, to contribute to a Money Pool you must have a PayPal account. If you, or someone who would like to contribute to your Money Pool, don’t already have a PayPal account, sign up is fast and free.:sorry:

You can if you wish.

We are currently on £235. Nice work everyone.

Do we have a target?

SvN
18-01-2019, 12:15 PM
£264 would be nice, as that gives us at least 2 years. We'll blast past that, so anything more than that is a bonus. Other than hosting/domain costs, we shouldn't have any big one-off requirements this time around, unlike last time where we had to purchase the forum license.

My PayPal got shut down so I'll transfer on payday to the most trustworthy person I have on Facebook, which is probably Mike, as long as he's cool with that.

Sending money in the post is surely going to be a candidate for robbery from a postie?

Foe
20-01-2019, 06:13 PM
Do a bank transfer instead maybe? Or send a cheque? Sending cash in the post is not a good idea.

So we're at £285 - that's pretty good. I'll add £20 of my own once Baz transfers it to me. Is anyone else planning on donating, or can we close it?

Baz

I feel like being sticky makes it less noticeable. :sorry: Maybe let it float around over the weekend?

You might have a point. I'll unsticky it.

Happy to wait for Bartholomert.

Okay.

I'm happy to chip in a symbolic £20.

Also can I have my name changed SvN? My concern isn't so much the regulars (the cat is out of the bag on that front), but adding an extra layer of privacy / anonymity in the case of random lurkers / guests / new posters / google searches by employers.

By contrast the first time after you changed it that I saw "Mert" as the last poster I let out an audible chuckle.
