(Info, including proper video.) (https://www.sthelensstar.co.uk/news/17233800.watch-fairytale-of-st-helens-song-for-kaycee-bradshaw-has-amassed-more-than-20000-views/)

It's also on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/album/3HVH8vHh98abKBGC5G8DYk).

The lyrics.

Anyway.

I've decided that this Christmas, my favourite Christmas song is that one from Home Alone 2:

Proper under-appreciated Christmas banger.

Happy November 22nd, lads.

Not even listening to that first one as the name and the still shot makes it a certainty of being horrible LADbanter.

Let it Snow is the best of the lot.

It's the Pogues, and anyone voting differently is invited to suckle on my nutt sack.

For untraditional it's:

For traditional it's:

I'm not particularly enamoured with the original version but you can choose your cover. All good.

Yearly reminder that the Pogues have loads of other really good songs.

Not in an arsey way, fairytale of new york is fucking amazing, but Rum Sodomy and the Lash especially is worth a listen, outstanding album.

Also, my fave is this, and it actually beat fairytale of new york to #1:

I forgot about that Pogues song. Every year I hear it and never understand why anyone likes it. Just makes me want to kill myself (in b4: which is probably why everyone keeps playing it)

It's not often that me and Spikey are on the same page but we're here right now.

Slade > Mud > Elton John. That Gary Glitter one is due a revival as well.

Also, I just remembered sound of the underground was xmas #1 in 2002, must be up there in terms of best songs to get that honour, albeit very unchristmassy.

I wanted to see if there were any other weird ones. Spice Girls got it 3 years in a row.

Very true. The first three albums are all well worth listening to.

Love You Till the End (or at least one of the versions of it), from the last album, is in my top 50/100 favourite songs, absolute beauty. Shaneless, but lovely.

Has to be Fairytale of New York but Last Christmas and Stop the Cavalry are close behind.

Could listen to the latter on repeat quite happily.

Driving home for Christmas then Stop the Calvary.

This is pretty much the perfect answer.
