You are all watching, right?

Slight change in the set up this year, due to dwindling attendances of games not involving the hosts. So, instead of one host country, each team will host their own games in the group stage, semi's and final.

As ever, Thailand go in as heavy favourites, with Vietnam probably second.

Vietnam kicked off last night with a comfortable 3-0 in Vientiane. Laos were awful.

Thailand normally make it to the final stage of AFC World Cup qualifying, right?

Does this tournament spit out many upsets?

Thailand usually win it every year, and yes did recently reach the final round of WC qualifying. However, the previous 5 years have seen the them stagnate a little.

Indonesia will have a mare, whilst Philippines go in the Sven in charge.

Semi finals will be:
Thailand v Malaysia
Vietnam v Singapore

Vietnam beat Philippines 4-2 (1-2, 2-1) over 2 legs to progress to the final, where we will face Malayia, who were surprise victors over Thailand, including a cracking goal by the Malays..

That's a pretty huge upset as far as international football goes, right?

If Malaysia were to win, would that be Greece-level?

Knocking out Thailand was big, but Thailand are missing 3 or 4 are their better players, so it's not a big as it would have been normally.

Them beating Vietnam wouldn't really be a big shock either, really. After Thailand, the 2nd tier ASEAN teams are pretty similar; Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore.... then probably Philippines, Timor Leste, then Cambodia and Lao.

First leg Tuesday afternoon in Malaysia, second leg Saturday afternoon in Hanoi.

2-2 from the first leg, in front of around 90,000 at the Bukit Jalil stadium. Vietnam 2-0 early doors, and missed a few fair one-on-ones.

Saturday in Vietnam is going to be fucking hectic. Millions expected in the streets of HCMC and Hanoi to watch the game in the streets.

Vietnam won 1-0, 3-2 on aggregate. Millions took to the streets, took me about 2hr to get home.

Awesome.
