Pre-ordered Ultimate with the EA access and early bird discounts a few months back, £80 I think direct to console.Yeh, it's a lot, and I'll also plough in £50 in week 1 and a further £50 at Futmas but this accounts for >75% of my gaming these days, so as a total outlay I'd imagine it's quite relative. I'll probably only buy Red Dead of this years other releases as I have the likes of Halo 5, the newest Deus Ex and Tomb Raiders and the last LOTR game all completely unplayed downloaded on my Xbox.

The pick up and play, whilst still having depth and longevity elements of FUT have null and voided all those other gaming exploits of the past.

Played one game on Legendary as Juve against Dortmund and lost 2-1.

I wouldn't say passing has been nerfed, more that the opposition were much better organised and harder to break down.

Ive played four games now with two wins and two draws on legendary. I like it.

* you can now position edit individual players likeyou could in the old pro evo games. You can play one player at LM, and the other player at RW. I haven't noticed if they actually do play those positions but i suspect they do

* the pressing settings on this version is for real. I always wanted my player to press like the AI and now they do if instructed too


Coupe things i dont like

* crossing and heading is super strong
* centre-backs at free kicks and corners still do not always go forward and are on the edge of the area like idiots

Other things ive noticed

* trying to get the ball to my CAM is now increasingly difficult.

* using a CDM in possession is ridiculously useful.

* Juventus using the default settings fee absolutely perfect for my play style

I've been playing 18 in offline career mode on the PC. I think it's pretty great. I tried Pro Evo 2018 as well and I think Fifa's the better game these days.

I don't think that's the case, to be honest. I think they're close to each other but the small differences feel massive if you're going from one to the other. I kinda like how the demo feels. Just had the one game on amateur just to get a feel for it. Let the AI play itself on Legendary and it looked a little fast-forward. Fry said years ago that when you turn FIFA AI up, it gets better at FIFA, rather than trying to be smarter at football. As a result, there's a lot of playing in dangerous areas, one-twos that are unnecessary but get away with it. It's showboaty which is kinda how EA like to represent the sport.

Maybe, just maybe, this is the year I get back into it. In like .... March next year when they don't sell it for £60.

That means that each pack opening is an independent event; opening multiple packs does not change the likelihood of being awarded an item from a specific category. If you flip a coin three times and get heads each time, you still have a 50% chance of getting heads if you flip the coin again.

I just saw this article. The probabilities they've given are so vague but working off what they've given, the chance of packing an 84+ rated player is apparently 4.5%.

If we give EA the benefit of the doubt and assume all players have the same chance of appearing, then the chance of packing one specific player is 4.5% divided by the number of players (around 140 non icon players rated 84+).

That gives a best case scenario of pulling one specific player of 0.03% from each pack you buy, and an expected number of packs until you get him being 1/0.0003= 3333 packs or around (150*3333 = 500000 FIFA Points). Buying points at 12000 for £79.99 puts that at £3333.

If you want to pull a rare player like Ronaldo then the odds are going to be substantially higher - you'd assume that each rating point makes the player rarer as well as rarity being inconsistent within rating as well. I'm sure in practice higher pace/more desired players appear less often than slow centrebacks. You could easily spend well over £10k and not pull him which is pretty grim.

Yep, the weights are awful, which is nothing we didn’t know anyway, but at a 4.5% chance for an 84+ rated player there’s essentiallly no point opening Premium Gold Packs.

At £1.20 pet pack it’s essentiallly the best part of £30 spent before you should get an 84 rated player and we all know that’ll be Bernardo Silver anyway.

After playing GT Sport, I thought having match creation every 15 minutes was a stupid idea. After playing it for a month though. It is actually brilliant. It stops people from backing out of games when higher ranks are matched up and also improves connectivity as everyone is searching for a game at exactly the same time. It would be good if FIFA did something like this.

Imagine if every 20 minutes, match creation opens and everyone is searching for a game at exactly the same time. If you back out, that's it. You have to wait another 20 minutes to match up with players again. It sounds like it could work...

I like the choice of rewards for Division Rivals. Finishing in the third tier in D6 via a single 6-0 win gave me a choice of 1. 1 Megapack and a rare consumables 2. 2 x Megapack, 2 x rare consumables but both untradeable and 3. 27k coins.

I took (2) to buffer out my card pool, can see myself taking others depending on what I’m after at the time in future. I’ve gone up to D5 and have double the points needed for top tier with about 3.5 hours left now.

You start your very own club, basically collecting cards like you would have in your Panini sticker books. Only when you own the card, you can then use the player in-game. You then build your cards into a team and play matches with them. You can also collect Kits, Balls, Badges and Stadia to use for yourself too.

When you build your team you need what they call Chemistry. You gain it by linking players of the same league, nation or club. The aim being to get it as close to 100% as possible. Your players will gain small boosts to their in game stats for good chemistry and if it gets low enough, perform worse than their stats.

After 7 games for a fresh player they'll need a contract to play for you again, but these are quite cheap. However players will also lose fitness through playing and feel worse or more tired, each game. Fitness cards are available but expensive. If you make a 2nd team and put the players from team 1 on the bench and reserve spots, they'll gain fitness back so long as they don't come on to play.

There are 4 tiers of players, bronze, silver, gold and Icons. The best players are your top golds. Lower league and younger players go down the scale. Forget Icons for now as they are usually end game players.

When you start you will be given a jumbo pack of mostly bronze and maybe some gold or silver players who are pretty crap, but have 99 game contracts. The idea is to build that team into a team of superstars or your favourite players.

You have things to help you gain in-game coins to do this, such as 1000 coin boosts found in the catalogue and the ability to do Squad Builder Challenges(SBCs).
For SBCs you have to submit a team of cards that meet a certain criteria. For example the squad must be rated 82 and have 60 chemistry. Some will give you packs back, which could have anything in you could sell on. Others reward you with a special version of a player. They vary greatly in price. A special player who is very good will be expensive.
Usually these are available for a limited time. For example every month the Premier League has a player of the month. In-game the player who wins will get a boosted version of their card. This will then be ready for 1 week and after it has gone, it's gone for good. This is usually expensive and if it's a top player already, be prepared to break the bank. These cards are not tradeable either.

Each week there's a team of the week. Featuring players who played well in real life. Say for example Naby Keita bangs in a hattrick, he's getting in it. The cards here will be upgraded versions of a players standard card. The best part is if someone gets in multiple times, the card stacks the boost on top of the previous boost.
Mo Salah last season had 12 special cards. So you can imagine just how much better the last one is than his original. He started rated 83 and finished at 98.

You then have Icons who are as stated, Icons of the game. From R9 Ronaldo to Pele to Van Der Sar. Most you can think of will be there. These cards are obscenely expensive though and will only really be there at the end game.
Solid playing from release day might still take until January to get one, dependant on pack luck.

My tip is to start offline. Make sure you have your 1k coin boosts on and play games. Get a feel for the game and stack some coins. Wait until you have 10k-20k and then build yourself a cheap gold team. This can be done on the first night.
From there look into doing some of the starter SBCs. They'll teach you how to do them and you'll break even on them. Small chance of a big profit too.

After that take your team into divisions. Make coins and keep building the team. Don't waste money on expensive SBC players unless you know you'll get your worth.
For example if Hazard gets a POTM card, there's no point spending a potential 500k on it, only to move to a La Liga team next week.

If you feel like you are playing well and you qualify through divisions, give the weekend league a go. If offline is your thing, squad battles is a good coin maker.

Pretty much just keep making coins.

Finished Elite 2 to get 15k of coins, 2 Mega Packs and 1 Premium Gold Players Pack. The Mega Packs were rubbish (as they always are), but the Premium had 84 Lopes in it, who probably goes for buttons now, but will be worth 6-7k in the long run.

Up to just under 40k of coins so I'll complete today's squad battles with the remaining time from the second EA Access trial and look to invest most of that in players who I think will rise when the full game comes out or offer some short to medium term gain.

I have 110k in coins and around 380 fucking players otherwise. I think I'm in decent shape once I start grinding it all out.

I've been trying the bronze/silver thing where you just throw them on the transfer market and hope someone bites for an SBC or otherwise. I've only sold like a dozen or so but i'll take that over 30 coins on quick sale.

You get the coin boosts in the order you buy them, so yes, if you went from level 1 upwards you're going to be playing a lot of games for 200 coins each before you hit the 1,000 a game ones.

I did Hybrid Nations and Hybrid Leagues for less than that, and just need to use the loyalty glitch on the last set of players in League and Nations Hybrids to finish that off too. Definitely worth it.

Just use the patterns in Futbin but with players in the club and going cheap, often the ones on Futbin move skyward once everyone latches on.

Yep, I haven't tried it yet but it seems like a really awkward button combo when you're attacking. Also, they've been nerfed apparently anyway.

This might just be the most frustrating game ever. Every team I play parks the bus in a way Mourinho could never dream of then somehow finds away to turn a switch and counter attack in a quite ridiculously effective fashion. Meanwhile, my players refuse to run towards the goal and are often to be seen running straight into each other or away from the net when it's actually harder to do so.

Played the full game last night. From the intro packs and various basic SBC I did, I managed to pack Martial and Arnautovic. My team is currently 79 rated on 80 chemistry. I had two games of SB on legendary last night and the first game I won 1-0 with a last minute martial goal and the second game I won on penalties after 1-1 in extra time. It does not feel to difficulty at this point. Feels very similar to FIFA 18, but it is early.

One thing I always did on FIFA 18 was never drag my central players out of position to defend the wide area. I've notice on FIFA 19 you can get edit the tactics so the central midfield players can 'cover wing' or 'cover central'. by Default the CDM are set to cover wing but i have changed that. However, ive noticed crossing and heading is super strong and the AI are created chance after chance by thoriwjng balls into my box. My GK is making some super saves. May have to amend my style of play and try and actual stop crosses.


Ive also noticed first touches have been nerfed and your player is not always going to control the ball correctly. It just bounces of them at times.

Was reading this thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/SeriousFIFA/comments/9hgkh3/i_want_to_improve_in_trading_any_tips/) earlier and like the "squad fitness" idea, so picked up a few to stash and re-list at a later point.

Decided to go with Leverkusen in Career Mode as they've got some cracking players (Bailey/Havertz/Brandt behind Volland and then a great back four of promising youngsters). Plus they have a pretty cool kit.

If you can get squad fitness for cheap it's a great coin maker.

As soon as the weekend league hits they are in massive demand. People don't want to waste time playing a fitness game as there's already 40 games to play over a weekend.

Its 30 games now which is still a lot. Im going to play more weekend league though this time around given its a new learning curve.

Also not that it makes much difference, the pack opening animation if awful. It looks like FIFA 14 which I never played.

30 games is much better. You can split that to 10 per day, which is not too unmanageable.

It might promote people to rage quit less too. Not as much need to rush into the next game to fill your quota. I feel like 25 is the sweet spot for it.

I did do about 2 or 3 months of playing the full 40 games back in '17. Your entire weekend has to be based around it. Even then you needed to hope for some rage quits and be prepared to do it yourself.
If you could make it higher end of Gold 1 or to Elite 3 it was so worth playing those extra games, but I'd constantly choke good starts. I once needed 4 wins from 8 games to get into Elite 3. I won 2 and then lost 5 on the bounce. Choked it.

I don’t know how they’ve managed it but you’re right, it’s hideous.
