Boxfresh trainers are comfortable and reasonably priced, so if you can find a pair of those in a style you like go for it.

Go to Bicester village and go crazy.
Check our /r/malefashionadvice on reddit. I don't think just spending money on expensive clothes is the answer if you're genuinely clueless.
Can you ask someone to go shopping with you?
When I had to get my first suit I went with a friend who regularly wears suits to help me out.
I'm not a fan of spending large amounts on clothes, I have found paying a little more is better than getting the cheapest stuff. Jeans for example, a pair of nice 511's is always better than 2-3 cheaper pairs.

The top and the bruins are from the lookbook for the Nike SB x Quartersnacks capsule.
The likeness to Vim is spot on :D
Is that trainers with that built in bit like football boots have?
Yup. The original Koston's were a combination of three shoes - the Nike SB Bruin, the CR9's (the 'sock') and an american football 'cleat'. The 'sock' thing is being used in American football boots too. It's the one of use of it that I've liked or seen in a shoe that will not just be worn for sports.

Loom (exclusive to Urban Outfitters) are very good, along with the staple Cheap Mondays, I stick to those two normally but really want to try some of Polar Skate's 90's jeans.
I think the ones I recently bought are Levi's, Lee and Nudie. Although I enjoyed the slightly forced TTH theme of the first two, I went for Nudies as they didn't have any Booms (double denim) in the shop.
(Nudies are probably the ones I like the best)

I should probably be more hygienic. As a fat 13 year old I spent an entire summer holiday wearing the same nasty old trainers every day without socks. Right at the end of the holiday I got a huge blister practically the size of the sole of my foot, and it got proper infected. My mum calmly said I had to go to the hospital, and some bloke cut it off with a scalpel and I was off school on antibiotics for 2 weeks.
Mother only informed me quite recently that the sepsis had visibly spread to almost the top of my thigh and that I nearly died, lol.

Tbf one of my mate's is gradually turning into a poncy hipster/LAD disgrace and I blame London. The desperation to be seen as authoritative and trendy is pathetic. I'm gonna have to have a word with him soon because I don't particularly like him anymore, but I owe it to the old him to say something. If I turn up and he's sporting a poncho, though, I'll know he's too far gone.

Went to get a pair of those Deerupt trainers Adidas have started doing this morning but they feel horrendously cheap. There's a sort of netting over the whole shoe that feels like those little nets you used to get for washing machine tablets and there's some half obscured writing beneath it that makes them look like the whole net idea was a last minute addition. Not at all good trainers. Only eighty quid, but still.
SincereTheRebel this is why I still go into shops.
Interesting because I quite fancy the red/blue/white pair. Probably won't bother now.
They don't even look good up close. From the advert and the pictures I'd seen I thought the white pattern on the pair you refer to was stitched, but it's a net that's only connected at the sole and the ankle, so it doesn't look at all good and it'd get caught incredibly easily. Complete shit.
I bought the Pharrell ones instead, both much nicer and much more comfortable.
