24 hours before the World Cup starts. Amazing scenes.

I fancy them to bring in Del Bosque for the World Cup.

They really are idiots.

Hierro seems to be favourite for the world cup with the fat waiter after that.

Zidane to swoop in and win it all.

Sergio Ramos as player manager. Make it happen.

Nice to see the Dutch are still at the tournament in spirit.

I saw they were planning to parachute in the U21 management team, which is probably the most lol outcome available short of them letting the dressing room organise itself.

The boss move here for Spain would be to appoint Zidane.

John Arne

Hierro, surely.

Proper hot-headed dago decision that. A sensible country would have just sucked it up for the month, and half-sensible countries would merely have let it ruin the tournament.

Pepe

What did he do?

Got a better job.

So rather than just letting him go after the tournament they've shot themselves in the foot by sacking him now.

Lol.

It’s a full blown tantrum. Babies and bath water everywhere.

I wish Zidane would just pull up and win it for the absolute lulz.

The Spanish FA seem relatively reasonable in this really.

He said that it was legitimate for Lopetegui to negotiate with Real Madrid but not for the federation to find out just five minutes before a formal announcement was made, days before the beginning of the tournament.

Also this is pretty lol:

Rubiales had spend the morning talking to players, led by Sergio Ramos, who argued for the coach to continue. Ultimately, though, he chose to sack Lopetegui with immediate effect.

Not like Ramos would argue agains that, ey?!

All in all I reckon fair play to the Spanish FA. Lopetegui could have just let people know before it seems like, or told Real not to announce it until after the World Cup. There might be more to the story though, as it all just seems a little too odd that it wasn't handled better by everyone.

Yeah, the Spanish FA have handled it well. If he'd given prior notice, they could've let him go out after the World Cup as an act of good faith. Even if the interview and decision were tight on time, he should've at least notified the FA he'd been interviewed.

Even then, they should just have sucked it up for the good of the team. It's not some blood honour shit from a Lorca play, it's a national football team at the World Cup.

It seems a decision ruled by ego. Suck it up and do what's best for the country.

If they feel under minded then the relationship is ruined. Odd that they've opted to shuffle someone in to spite the guy and take away the opportunity to manage in a World Cup but I suppose integrity and honour came first. Ironic given their style of football gamesmanship.

Is it that hard to keep it under your hat for a month?

That said, I don't understand why they sacked him. What's wrong with lining up a job for after the tournament?

Lol at him crying while talking about the sacking at his Real Madrid unveiling. :D
