I'm volunteering as part of the media team for this, which has so far sent me to the most distant and random corners of London. It's brilliant though. Today I watched United Koreans of Japan play Kabylia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabylie) to a scoreless draw.

More matches tomorrow, Tuesday, Thursday, and the final's on Saturday at 8pm in Enfield. Come on down TTH.

Heard a guy talk about this on Football weekly. Sounds interesting.

Are 'United Koreans in Japan' intending to be a country or something? I can understand Tibet or something like that.

There's a big minority in Japan of Koreans who moved there before the Korean war - so they're not North or South Koreans per se, and they speak a different dialect than either. I think one of their players played for North Korea in the World Cup though.

The website crashed just after this thread went up. Coincidence? I think not. We do numbers.

Like that time we killed Gary Speed.

I thought this was all about regions that identify independently, countries FIFA won't let in, etc.? Where the fuck do them lot fit into that policy or do they need to do things like that to make up the numbers?

Looks like a free for all. Still pretty cool.

The Japanese thing with North Korea is very weird indeed.

It's any 'identity' that doesn't fit in to a FIFA team - not necessarily regions, also ethnicities, etc. These guys aren't Japanese but not North or South Korean so they don't have anywhere else to play. But yeah so far the rules are pretty lax - same for player eligibility - I think one of the next frontiers will be tightening that up.

The guy on Football Weekly said the only reason they haven't had a laughably superior Catalan side compete is because sponsors but a few big names have said they'd be game for it.

Can't remember if he actually gave any games so he may have been at it.

They're Koreans living in Japan. They'd be better heading off somewhere to try get over themselves.

Whichever. Then they're Japanese living in a Korea.

But they aren't though, that's the point.

Is there a team of Scottish living in England or vice versa?

It's absolute bollocks.

No but there's a group of Unionists slightly closer to home for you to compare it to.

They all live in the UK.

Yes, because the UK is not at war with itself. You realise the Korean War is still going, right?
