Meant to be different to the other Fallout games, online or something. They'll say more at E3.
Fallout 5 confirmed illuminati.

Huh, I really thought it was going to be Fallout 4 on Switch. So actually Fallout 4.5 with some god-awful online element, that'll annoy the purists no end.

It was crap. The only step forward they managed in seven years was the awful settlement system that didn't matter one iota.
The whole point in those games was the potential of choice. Your choice in Fallout 4 was to say Yes sarcastically, nicely, meanly, or politely. At which point you'd walk into a building, kill everyone in it and turn around.
The quest about you dressing up as that comic book character and merking people off is the only good quest in the entire game.

While there were things it got wrong, it was still an awesome game.
This however, is disappointing. I'd have much preferred a Fallout 3 revamp, had they actually revamped it.

Nah Fallout 4 was absolute fucking shite.
I liked Fallout 2 a lot. I played either 3 or 4, can't remember, and it was ok. It was probably 3.
3 was miles better than 4, but I still enjoyed 4.

My favourite bug has to be that all physics is tied to framerate. Including movement, and the game can hit 200fps. Which means you go faster if you stare at the floor so the world is just people flying across the plains at super human speeds engrossed by their own feet.

That is a good one, I read somewhere that information coming from the client isn't checked at all by the server and is all in plain text making cheating about as easy as it could ever be.
Good job they left all of three weeks to completely re-structure their game.

My family all comes from around this area of West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky they're apparently looking at so I was pretty excited for this game cause honestly there ain't much else exciting that goes on there.
Hopefully it's not completely ass so I can play it and show my Mom randomly landmarks she grew up around and give her a wry smile that someone would dare make a video game out of it lol

I pre-ordered it and I have to say the Beta didn't grab me at all, just made me want to play Fallout 4.
I pre-ordered it and I have to say the Beta didn't grab me at all, just made me want to play Fallout 4.
This is essentially the effect I think the entire game will have on me.
I don't want Fallout to be some sort of online, interactive experience. I want to be able to book some time off work, close the curtains and let the single player experience replace my actual life for a few weeks.
It's quite amusing how terrible this game sounds. Shame, really, cos on paper and in the build up it sounded great. But it's really not.

Not very far in (only level 2), but it's not terrible yet, certainly better than Elder Scrolls online.
How can it be? You actually see other people on ESO. Loads of them. Everything I’ve seen of F76 is running around on your own without even NPCs for company.

Played for about 5 hours last night, up to level 12 and genuinely enjoying it.
Ok, there are things undoubtedly wrong with it, but it's fun.
Quite telling that this is only £24.49 on cdkeys (https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/fallout-76-pc-cd-key?mw_aref=rapdab), and already under £40 on consoles.
Shocking that it came out, really.

The RPS review of this sounds like they've taken out the stuff I liked / wanted to like in Fallout 3, the things I might have liked in 4 and just amped up all the stuff I hated.

It's Bethesda having a go at making their own online 'experience' because they've seen other people make lots of money out of tricking people into buying hats and other worthless digital tat.
Don't tell Welby there are hats or he'll be balls deep in it.

Cord is more of the hat whore tbh.
Don't tell Welby there are hats or he'll be balls deep in it.
Your concern is appreciated but it's fine, the game itself needs to be at least moderately tempting on its own before the hats come into play.
Cord is more of a grey smock man these days, after SWTOR.

Well at least they're adding a Battle Royal mode...
Yeah, that was what they needed to liven up their dead, empty RPG.
NPC’s too, so at least you’ll have someone to talk to.
NPCs? In an RPG?
Mental. Those guys over at Bethesda are clearly smoking some weeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrdddddddddd shit.

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-76-has-microtransactions-but-bethesda-insi/1100-6462850/
Like many other big games, the soon-to-launch Fallout 76 will feature microtransactions. But Bethesda boss Pete Hines doesn't want you to worry about them. Speaking to GameSpot at PAX Aus, Hines stressed that Bethesda will only offer cosmetics to buy with real money, not items that can affect gameplay.
Hines went on to say that Bethesda has always tried to be "on the right side of the line" as it relates to microtransaction systems within its games. Hines acknowledged that it can be a "pretty ambiguous line," but the studio has always strived to avoid situations that feel like money-grabs. Like other publishers, Bethesda has learned the best way forward by following industry trends and gathering feedback from players.
This aged well.
It's genuinely not that bad.

It certainly makes anyone who even thinks about pre-ordering the next Elder Scrolls game a colossal moron.
I mean pre-ordering in general is an increasingly idiotic proposition now that games being released broken, unfinished or not even remotely as promised is more and mroe common.
Yevrah
28-10-2019, 06:50 PM
I still stick by the game not being that bad, i.e. not the worst thing I've played. What has been the worst thing though, without a shadow of a doubt, is Bethesda's approach to launch, content, just about anything you could name really.
A lot rests on TES6 now.
What I would also add is that it would be helpful if reviewers stuck to reviewing actual launch copies of games rather than whatever (even more) broken version of a pre-release build they have in an effort to be the first review out.

You can play Xbox and PC, don't think you can on PS4/5 with either, because Sony.
Definitely works as a single player game, but had a surprisingly good multiplayer session with my brother the other day.

Still loving this. Am starting to see how once you've finished all of the quests there'd be little to keep you interested between seasons, but there are so many as a new player that wouldn't be a problem for 100s of hours.

My character is now up to level 158 and that's all the main and DLC quests done bar the launching a nuke one.
Daily grind stuff is all that's left (which does add up to great stuff over time) so I think I'll ease off a bit now.
A very good game and fair play to them for turning it around. Fallout 4 is better, but the mood and tone of this one are much better suited to a post apocalyptic world.
