Jeet

Anyone tried BT ultra?

Pleb
18-09-2015, 03:51 PM
It's meant to be the same as HD but you get to see Michael Owen's wrinkles much more better apparently.

John Arne
18-09-2015, 04:02 PM
Isn't Ultra equivalent to 4K?

Pleb
18-09-2015, 04:03 PM
There's 8K which is meant to be mindblowing.

We'll win relatively comfortably I think, 2-0.

No Fellainimania ()?

Ian
18-09-2015, 09:22 PM
Well obviously Fellainimania  but we'll probably be playing this Martial mug again rather than giving the Great One his time to shine.

We'll shit our way to a 1-0 no doubt.

That City game looks tasty.

Much more toss from the Brentmeister I would imagine. No win at the weekend would Mae it five games without a win. He's got to be getting close to the end.

World class shithousery from Costa

Waffdon
19-09-2015, 12:34 PM
I fucking adore Costa

Foe
19-09-2015, 12:37 PM
Mike dean has absolutely bottled that.

How arsenal have ended up a man down after Costa goes on an arm swinging rampage is beyond me.

John Arne
19-09-2015, 12:56 PM
I don't know why defenders always let Costa rile them up. Gabriel was acting like an utter mong after the incident.

Yep. Highlights that some footballers really are as thick as shit.

Foe
19-09-2015, 01:17 PM
Gabriel is clearly as thick as they get but that scenario doesn't happen if the referee does his job.

For the good of football I really hope Costa breaks his leg. Alternatively hopefully Barcelona or Madrid come and move him away from the premier league. Every time I see him play it just makes me angry.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Why is Owen talking about whether or not it was on target?

The direction of the shot was completely changed, it's a fucking clear own goal.

That's not the rule though. If the original shot was on target, then it's a goal for the attacker.
First, and hopefully last time I've defender Owen.

Fuck me.

Exactly. Even though I think he's doing a great job at what he's doing, if you're going to rise to it then you may as well do him good and proper.

Not much could make me feel better about Chelsea's start to the season like a win over Arsenal has. Two men sent off as well. They really do just fall apart against Mourinho.

Diego Costa is the perfect example of what Chelsea represent.

Toby
19-09-2015, 03:53 PM
Losing to Chelsea every single time no matter what form each side is on sums Arsenal up beautifully as well.

QE Harold Flair
19-09-2015, 03:58 PM
That's fine but I think it's fair to say there were extenuating circumstances in this case. We looked pretty comfortable up until that point. We also do not define ourselves by what we do against Chelsea.

Toby
19-09-2015, 04:04 PM
Nobody defines themselves by what they do again Arsenal either, it's just amusing to see people like you and jeet get upset by it.

Lewis
19-09-2015, 04:07 PM
Is the Arsenal/Chelsea rivalry wholly one-sided (Arsenal seething about Chelsea)? They can't have actually been rivals for ten years.

Demerit
19-09-2015, 04:08 PM
Decent win, we should really have gone on to get a few more at the start of the second half.

QE Harold Flair
19-09-2015, 04:09 PM
Well you're the one who made a point out of it. I am 'upset' by Costa, who is a cunt of the highest order. So much so that he really shouldn't be defended by anyone.

@ 'Tobes'

Max Power
19-09-2015, 04:10 PM

It's going to be incredible when we play well for a whole game. Love this team though, so entertaining and always feel we'll get something somehow.

@ 'Tobes'

The point I made of it was in finding it amusing rather than particularly impressive, which is more down to the reaction than anything else. That there's always an excuse or reason it wasn't a failure of Arsenal's own making just adds to that.

SvN
19-09-2015, 04:17 PM
Come on lads, it's the new board, leave this pedantic crap where it belongs.

Because Chelsea were in chaos, Mourinho had lost it, 3rd season, blah blah, narrative, etc.

Reg
19-09-2015, 06:34 PM
I'm all for Mourinho bashing, but there isn't much basis for the 3rd season claims.

He summed it up quite well, and also regarding building a dynasty admitted that he hadn't done it anywhere.

It's amazing he hasn't been sent off more for Chelsea, he really Is a dirty fucker. I suppose his saving grace is that he rarely does anything that could cause actual injury (and he's been punished when he has).

Giggles

So you can cheat as long as you don't get caught???

Cheat? He fouled the opposition, the referee was incompetent, and the opposition stupidly got riled up and fell straight into what he wanted. Well done him, he took the risk on not being seen and punished himself and it paid off.

The way to deal with him is to either laugh at him or do his knees and make the red card worthwhile.

John Arne
19-09-2015, 10:14 PM
To be fair, there is a limit to what the referee can see. If he didn't see the flailing arms, then he can't send him off.

John Arne
19-09-2015, 10:28 PM
It's not like Mark Hughes to blame the ref. Why not blame you 2 centrehalves who went for the same ball.

Reg
19-09-2015, 10:56 PM
Diego Costa was horrible in Chelsea Football Club's victory over Arsenal: sandpaper made flesh, a blue-shirted jab in the eye and above all lucky not to be sent off himself. He niggled, he provoked, he stopped the flow of the game, he deliberately and skilfully got an opponent sent off. And yet Costa left the pitch having committed no fouls at all, a fact that in itself suggests a kind of brilliance to his methods.

When was the last properly enjoyable big English game? Liverpools 3-2 win against city last April? Really struggling to care about it this season.

Probably due to Rangers stunning start, 11 wins in a row now with 40 goals scored. Warburton is incredible, such an intelligent manager.

Hasn't been hugely tested to be honest.

Made some really good saves recently, still a little heart in your mouth on occasions with the ball at his feet but then on others just looks so comfortable with it.

He's a big part of the short passing game we're adopting under Warburton, don't remember many long aimless punts this season

His distribution has always been pretty solid, even when he does go long (rare). Well I hope he continues to improve, you may well find me badgering the Rangers contingent on here throughout the season.

Rooney, however, would probably be better at left back than where he is.

Think this Southampton - United games has potential to be the most dull game of the season. Hopefully we play with a bit of intent but I'm worried we will be pretty happy to just sit back and watch Unites knock it around.

Glad to be wrong, great game. Wish I'd gotten a ticket now.

If he's this bollocks all season he's basically finished as a functioning top level footballer, so both United and England would need to employ some serious balls to bin him off.

When does his ridiculous contract finish?

Milner is a just your classic squad player. He can 'do a job' in a number of a positions, so he's great for somebody like City to have around because they don't have to start him every week, but he's fundamentally a bit rubbish.

I like Milner a lot. He's very intelligent with his movement and runs. But he's never going to be somebody like Suarez who can turn a quite good team into a very good team, or in other words he probably won't be the difference between them finishing 6th and them finishing 2nd.

Was Romeu a bit of a panic buy in case Wanyama left? Because if I recall, Harrison Reed did quite well last season. Thought he might get more of a chance this time around, but he seems to be quite far down the pecking order.

I wouldn't describe the entire squad as rancid. Advocaat has actually done some decent business this transfer window, signing Lens and Borini and loaning M'Vila. All three are quality players and a class above the majority of our squad. I'm not convinced by Toivonen but he offers something a little different to our other midfielders. He also managed to keep Defoe despite interest from other clubs, including a club close to his heart - Bournemouth.

Our big problems are in central defence where Kaboul can only motivate himself for certain games (like Tottenham at home), Coates is incompetent (despite good performances towards the end of last season) and O'Shea is a decent player but ancient and susceptible to injury. We really needed to sign a quality player in this area in the transfer window but failed to do so. When your best defender this season has been Billy Jones, you know you're in trouble!:moop:

Would like to see Deeney get a goal, not only for him but to stop him holding the ball a little bit too long like he has been doing sometimes. Anya looked a lot better when Ake came on behind him although he was good against Swansea (bar the obvious mistake). I've been so impressed with Prodl and Nyom. Hopefully Jurado will get into the Prem a bit more as I can't see Flores dropping him anytime soon.

You a ST holder Demerit?

Aye I am, Rookery, you?

Deeney does need a goal as he's had a few chances recently where he's just held on too it too long or taken an extra unnecessary touch. Needs to score to get his confidence back and take some of these chances early. Whilst he's not scoring he is playing well though and has looked much better since Ighalo has moved further up the pitch.

I'd like to see Jurado dropped for the next week or two and test out Ibarbo or maybe Guedioura in his place. He just goes missing too much and I think a couple of weeks of watching others might help him.

Anya is doing okay at left back, away from home I think Holebas should be starting though, with Anya taking Jurado's role if Flores doesn't fancy anyone else there.

Nice to see Abdi coming into the right midfield role though.

Josh

Yeah great to see Abdi getting a go and playing well. Thought he may be another that would be moved on or not given playing time.

Not a ST holder as live in Suffolk but have actually managed to get to Swansea and Southampton this year so far and will be at Palace next week. I'm busier after September though but will try to get to as many as I can.

Agreed completely on your other points. I really want to see what Ibarbo can do but Flores doesn't exactly through them in early doors, plenty of the season left.

So many Watford fans getting ahead of themselves, I'll still be happy whatever happens if we stay up!

I'm surprised he hasn't given Ibarbo any time off the bench so far, although he seems pretty strict on what he expects from each individual role so maybe he just hasn't 'got it' yet.

Yeah safety is key, we'd end up on 57 points on current form, I think we'll get mid-forties and finish around 14th for me which I'd be delighted with.

Man City is the only game we've been outplayed in, so I think the fear factor (and resulting poor attacking performances) from the West Brom and Southampton games has gone now.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat 'would leave for somebody better'

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat says he has no regrets about remaining in the job but will leave the post if he feels there is somebody better for it.
Advocaat was set to depart after keeping the club in the Premier League last season but was persuaded to stay and signed a one-year deal.
But his side are bottom, and winless, with two points from six games.

"Let's be clear, if I feel it is better for somebody else to take over then I will go. Believe me," said Advocaat.

Sounds like he's loving life up north.

All this quote shows is that he loves the club, which was proved by him crying when our safety was confirmed last season. He is passionate about the club and very open and honest. And he will do whatever is in the best interests of the club. Whatever happens this season, Dick Advocaat will always be remembered at Sunderland AFC.
