As a bed-wetting guardian reader I obviously favour Celtic to Rangers, but I saw a Celtic fan on my facebook feed saying something like "Gutted, I always thought Gerrard was a class player, never knew he was a Hun" and now I sorta want him to be a roaring success. Unless he's been working wonders with the youth team at Liverpool (no idea, but I doubt it) you have to assume the name (and by association ability to get/bung players) is what they are going on, which is probably no bigger punt than appointing some foreign no mark (Caixinha) or a done the hard yards nobody from closer to home. As Bodgers has shown, being able to lure Premier League outcasts/loans and stealing youngsters from England is a strong strategy up there, so maybe Gerrard can help in that regard. Or, you know, maybe he's the next 'Pep'. The next Souness would probably be better, and maybe more apt.
