Also, not sure how heavy your bag is, but having bag gloves is also worth it, unless your bag is one of those light ones that fly all over the place.

I think it's 20kg which I thought would be heavy enough but it does swing about quite a bit. There's a hook on the bottom so may tether it to something heavy on the ground to stop it swinging so much.

It came with a set of bag gloves. They feel quite tight though so not sure I'll even be able to get my hands in them when they're wrapped.

Lewis
13-10-2021, 01:45 PM
You just need a barrier between your skin and the inside of the sweaty glove, which will move around and rub your knuckles to bits, so if you can't be arsed with bandages/wraps get some tight-fitting site gloves (https://www.screwfix.com/p/site-kf120-pu-palm-dip-gloves-black-large/458fr).

I bought a £10 cd player from facebook marketplace this week - proper early 90s technics classic, which I have hooked up to my actually-not-that-shit-considering Chinese Amazon active speakers (Edifier 1800BTs ftr). The highlight though was saying to my momz "i wonder if they've left a cd in there", pressed eject, and to my absolute delight there was a copy of the debut album by Big Brovaz looking up at me. I feel this is more an insight into exactly when the previous owners stopped using a hi-fi separate CD player than any reflection of their lasting fandom. Nu Flow is still a banger though, as well as the name of the album and the first track. A front-loaded album and career.

True, though I guarantee you 99% of people who’d say that will just buy new peppercorns in a disposable plastic thing so they can refill their climate change one anyway.

How shit is shit anyway, and just how shit does it need to be a mashing up a peppercorn that it will ruin your dinner compared to one for a hundred quid?

My wife bought me an big tall old school Italian pepper grinder a few years ago that does the business, still get the pestle and mortar out occasionally for loads at once. I'm not against using pre ground pepper if its for big cuts in the BBQ, you get the even coverage without the same harshness of freshly ground.

For salt I just use table salt, kosher salt and Maldons depending on applications no need for a grinder really.

I've come across a fair few places outside the UK that literally won't ship here since Brexit. You also get hit with VAT + duty for everything now, which when it can basically double the cost of what you're buying would put me off. I don't mind spending £100 on a really good pepper mill, I would object to paying that again just to import it. I don't know if getting stuff from the UK to outside is similarly painful or not.

Try living in Northern Ireland. Quite a few places even in mainland UK won’t ship here now. Although it’s always given as temporary.

Only into the EU. UK to wherever else is dandy.

Can confirm it is. It's near enough the same as buying from the US etc.

Luca unless you are absolutely set on an electric grinder, I would seriously consider getting on of these Iron Mills. The build quality is nuts, this thing will easily outlive me I'm sure, and it makes it rain pepper.

I guess the issue you might face it getting it to where you are may be prohibitively expensive/painful.

The Pepper Cannon I was looking at is actually not electric, just an absolute beast. The Iron Mill is objectively more beautiful, though.

Over the past few years a real plague has taken hold of people leaving their shit on the path. It seems that as long as you pretend that you're giving it away ('free to take') the council will just let you leave a chest of drawers in the street for months as it slowly rots and falls to pieces.

During lockdown some tit decided it was a nice idea to make a 'fairy trail' down on the local walking path through a beauty spot by a river. They made a song and dance abour it on facebook to get kids involved, I encountered it by mistake a while after. Of course the quality of these 'fairy houses' varied wildly, some being little more than a milk carton with felt pen scrawled on. As the wife observed, it looked like a deserted traveller's pitch. Somehow it stayed in place for months before someone bit the bullet on binning it all and causing social media outrage.

Yeah a racehorse. I linked upthread.

She was only 2 yesterday so plenty of races ahead. Likely to be ready for a run out and early plans are to run in the Windsor Castle Stakes race at Royal Ascot on 16th June but I think that’s a bit early, personally.

Oh and we get 8 owners passes whenever she races. There’s 33 syndicate members from what I can see, and it is prorated based off % but most seem to have 2. I’d only really go if it was Haydock (or possibly Aintree) so would probably get first dibs on them. I don’t really like Flat season so it will at least pique my interest when National Hunt season finishes every year.
