Our game of the week is Everton vs Liverpool. Everton find themselves a point above their Merseyside rivals, whilst Liverpool have struggled so far, with a lack of goals one of their major problems. Rodgers looks on the way out with a negative result possibly resulting in his head on the blocks, whilst Martinez is enjoying himself again, getting the best out of Lukaku, Barkley and Stones. This week we'll be betting on number of goals as well as the result. Betting closes at 13:30 on Sunday. Betting odds taken from bet365. Good luck.

15:00 kick-off time unless stated otherwise.

Rotherham v Burnley is surely the least glamorous possible fixture at such a high level of football. I love that they've put it on telly.

Usually do well against Swansea, who are on a bad bit of form at the moment which has seemingly gone under the radar (1W 1D 3L). Bit worrying how Son is out and Kane is just an injury away from the club having no-one up front.

Spurs fans - Is Ben Davies the likley starter ahead of Rose these days?

He certainly is, Rose had a knock at the start of the season and has struggled to get back in the team since. Davies has been working on his attacking game I think, seems much more adventurous now. Seems silly to break up a defence now that's near top of the least conceded goals table.

Lots of draws this weekend IMO - Villa/Stoke, Norwich/Leicester, Bournemouth/Watford and Swansea/Spurs all possibilities.

Media: Have you got enough strong characters to get a strong reaction this weekend?

Wenger: “I just told you, we just won 5-2 at Leicester and we’re only team that’s beat Leicester so I din’t see why we should not believe we can beat Man United.”

Media: Do you think they’re close, Manchester United and Leicester? Is that your benchmark?

Wenger “The benchmark is the last game.”

Media: Your last game was Olympiacos?

03-10-2015, 12:49 PM
The worst thing about Pulis is that he's making me sound like one of those deluded cunts who thinks their team should be finishing top 8 and playing the 'west brom way' or whatever. Which isn't true, I just don't want us playing 4-4-2 with Yacob and Fletcher as the two centre mids, and a back four of 3 lumbering centre backs and Chris Brunt. Fuck sake.

When we played Stoke and they had 9 men for more than half the game, we still finished with only 51% possession.

We were terrible first half, just long ball workhorses. Got lucky with a complete howler from Boruc who decided to pass the ball to Ighalo under no pressure at all.

We were much better in the second half and could/should have gone 2-1 up really.

Gomes saved a penalty in the last 10 minutes which was one of the softest I've seen given. Quite happy with a point after the first half performance.

Referee at Ibrox today was the worst I've ever seen. Just absolutely clueless, and his linesman managed to let Martyn Waghorn take possession of the ball, run about twenty yards and shape to put a ball into the box before remembering he was offside and stick his flag up.

There's something strange going on with free kicks. Tavernier has scored about seven already this season, but today he didn't take a single free kick until about eighty minutes, when he put one in the top corner.

Oh and rofl at McClaren.

Having established himself a decent reputation on the continent, he's a moron for coming back to England to manage shit tier sides of yesteryear. I can only assume the money was a factor.

To be fair, that decent reputation only extended to Holland. Our defence is still the same shambles that took to the field under Carver except now Kevin Mbabu is getting games. There's a massive concentration gap that needs plugging.

The problem for Mourinho is that his previous strengths seem to be where everything is going wrong at the moment.

His success has come on the back of having the absolute respect of his players, extremely well organised defences, near impermeable home records, and smashing the big games.

What's happened this season? Players clearly starting to doubt him, pissing goals all over the shop, getting whomped at home and embarrassed in the only big game they've played. It's nice that he still has the edge over Arsene Wenger, but it's hard to see how the team recovers from this run. All signs point to him having lost the plot a bit.

John Arne
03-10-2015, 06:06 PM
I've never understood taking off a defensive midfielder when chasing a game. Arsenal do the same when taking off Coquelin - it just means the other midfielders have to do the covering. I liked it when Mancini used to bring on a holding midfielder when chasing a game - it just released the likes of Toure and Silva to burst forward more.
