Very loud rumours today that Klopp has agreed a 3 year deal with Rodgers gone regardless of how we would have done today. To be announced today or tomorrow.
I don't believe it, but I don't know any more.

I will laugh so hard if we sack Mourinho and appoint Brendan Rodgers.
Surprised we've pulled the trigger tbh.
After a 1-1 draw away to Everton it only makes sense to have done it if we've got someone (hopefully Klopp) lined up to come on immediately, otherwise what's the point after an alright result?
Jimmy Floyd
04-10-2015, 05:53 PM
The timing is just related to the international break surely. Clubs always sack managers around now.
Possibly. I still think it'd be odd if we don't have a replacement in the works.

Ivanovic and his amazing arse are great. Always seen him as a real trooper for Chelsea putting in a good shift and chipping in with important goals every now and again, but still never being appreciated.
What do I do with all my vCash? That was the easiest bet anyone could ever make.
Proper old school wing play from Carvajal for the goal.
Apparently Atletico spent 140m euros on new players this summer, none of whom are on the pitch. The commentator decided to praise Simeone for it (he doesn't go off price tags, reputation, etc) but I'm not sure that's a great business model.

He was excellent for the past couple of seasons and recognised as such by most Chelsea fans (and a lot of others). I like him but I don't think he can have a reasonable claim to being underrated, I think there was fair consensus he was the one of if not the best right back in the league last year.
But so far this season he has been stand out terrible in an already terrible team.

The best part of all that was Torres being put clean through on goal, checking back behind the two retreating men, and then falling over.

'Atleti' don't have a business model. Hence being a debt-riddled bag of piss most of the time.
It's so absurd that they let him try that. He must have the biggest ego of all time.

I'm not sure if the Bundesliga jingle at the end of that video is worse than the La Liga one in the TV coverage. Still, at least they put stuff on the internet...
Willian didn't really get enough credit for his at the weekend. It wasn't as good as the Porto effort but it wasn't as lucky as the Newcastle one either.
That sort of technique is definitely better than predictably thumping it into the wall at least.
Whatever happened to that Sanchez vs Hazard debate?
Also I have never seen a player that fouls so much and gets away with bookings than Marouane Fellaini.

Suarez had a massive amount to do with it, to be fair. You can argue Rodgers' system helped get the best out of him, obviously. But it was a freak season, evidenced by the other two and a bit being fairly abject.

I'm expecting it to contain no holds barred insight, such as Gary asking him 'Wayne, you're really just a family man, aren't you?' and Wayne replying 'Yes, Gary, I think you've hit the nail on the head there, I'm just a family man'.
Suarez's goals dried up significantly after January (during our best part of the season, basically) - only 8 after January, including a hat trick. To suggest it was all him is nonsense.

It might have ended reasonably badly, but the revisionism that's been going on over that season, when Brendan put together a fucking frightening side, is staggering.
Lewis
04-10-2015, 11:25 PM
It was hardly 'fucking frightening'. They scored a lot of goals, and their defence was shit. It was quite clear that once forty-odd goals were taken out of the equation they would struggle.
The Merse
04-10-2015, 11:31 PM
It just reminded me of Keegan's Newcastle of 95-97 at the time, and of course, now it's ended rather similarly - albeit it's been dragged out a good year longer.

It was a good season, a good accomplishment.
Fortunate to coincide with Arsenal being Arsenal and United on the wain, but they were smashing sides at one stage and it was a commendable job at the time.
They just squandered the Suarez cash and ignored the centre back issue for too long.

Was having a chat with a mate this weekend about Villa (2006-2010) and how if we'd signed Falcao instead of Heskey, and it feels mental that we were ever seriously in for him, we'd have probably finished top four. Was looking for an old article I remember to back up the link and whilst doing so found Benitez talking about us as title challengers in fucking February (and that was the third or fourth year on the bounce we were in and around the top four). Terrible, terrible mismanagement for us to go from that to this in such a short space of time, bearing in mind we had a relegation battle on our hands two years after that was written.
We're destined to go down eventually, and it's starting to look likely it'll be this year, and I have no confidence in this rabble getting us back up. The sad thing is we've been shit for so long that it'll barely register with anyone.

I don't remember what I said about him when he was appointed (on the old board), but I'm fairly sure it was something like he would be good to galvanise a team for a half a season, but I was interested in seeing how he did full time.
The problem is, he's not done the years you need to be a successful manager in the Premier League and he runs his mouth off far too much. He's a journalists dream.

Is this the worst Scotland have been in your lifetime, Head?
Not even close. George Burley and Berti Vogts see to that, but Strachan stands up pretty well against even some better managers. They were actually looking really good this time last year and it's really just one terrible performance/result that's blown things this time.
In fact the saddest part of this is that apart from the late 90s and that one almost-qualified run in 2007, this is probably the best Scotland side I've seen. :(
