Happy Cheltenham day everyone. Anyone else having a few bets? I’ve messed up quite spectacularly by doing too many antepost bets so have ended up with two horse in at least three races. :rosebud: Still confident of all my bets though (all of them EW cos I’m soft) and could well end up very rich by the end of the week. Or, you know, down by quite a significant amount. :rosebud:

Who we all on today lads?

I’m drip feeding my tips on Twitter (http://twitter.com/baz9torres) between 8 and 11 (#follow4follow?) but don’t mind telling you lot early. Thank me when you win loads, okay?

13:30 First Flow
14:10 Brain Power
14:50 Gold Present & Ramses De Teillee
15:30 My Tent Or Yours
16:10 Jer’s Girl
16:50 Ms Parfois
17:30 Testify

Boring reasons why I’ve picked these will be on Twitter. I’m at work all day otherwise I’d do minute by minute posts for you lot, to get you all way into it, but alas I’ve gotta make my betting money somehow.

The first five races are on ITV and then you’ll have to find a dodgy stream for RacingUK for the last two. That’s the same for everyday.

It’s also on talkSPORT and Radio5Live but I’m not sure about which races are where just yet.

Hopefully we get another commentary masterpiece like this: https://talksport.com/horse-racing/un-believable-talksports-rupert-bell-roars-big-orange-gold-cup-triumph-170622244041 (mobile users, click on the image to listen. It’s only 29 seconds long)

Good luck, have fun and please don’t bet if you can’t afford it.

I'd rather drag my scrotum across broken bottles than watch horse racing but it's brilliant for making the pubs quiet as near everyone in the town fucks off to it for the few days.

Hopefully someone will pass me on some tips they've paid for.
I'm getting sent tips from one of the many private tipsters on Twitter. I'd already chosen all my horses before I got them though. For todays races I got the following:

Cheltenham 14:10 - Saint Calvados at 4.0 [Betfair/PaddyPower/Boylesports] (2pts)
Cheltenham 14:50 - Vicente each way at 19.0 [Betfair/SunBets/PaddyPower/BetVictor] (1pt)

Make of them what you will. I'm glad I didn't pay for this service.

For tomorrow they've gone for the following:

Cheltenham 17:30 - The Big Bite each way at 29.0 [Betfair/PaddyPower] (1pt)

EDIT--
Just noticed I've been refunded on three of Thursdays races so may wait and see what they send me tomorrow evening before re-placing those ones.

14:10 Pertemps Handicap
14:50 Ryanair
16:10 Brown Advisory Plate

What's everyone else got in these three?

The ones I get passed on are this guy's (http://www.learnbetwin.com/about-me/).

His long term record is good but whether or not he'll produce a profit this week is a lottery. If you can find the time to get on his stuff every day then it would definitely be worth paying for his stuff.

I mean, it only exists to facilitate betting. Nobody would watch it if they didn't have money involved.

He tipped 6 horses and had a place on a 14/1 e/w shot today.

He rarely tips below 4/1, and a lot are big outsiders, so you can't judge him based on 6 tips, or indeed 4 days of tips. That's what I mean when I say it's a lottery whether he'll turn a profit over the festival. The 20% long term return advertised is remarkable (I would be over the moon with 5% with my bets), though I imagine it's lower for the big meetings.

He sends tips out on the morning of the races, so I can post them then if you like.

Feel free to share for all three days. ;)

>> Freaky Friday <<
History boys and girls

Of all the big races at the Cheltenham Festival there are three that are the biggest of the big. The Champion Hurdle (on Tuesday), The Champion Chase (on Wednesday) and The Gold Cup (today).

No trainer has ever won all three in the same festival. But today Nicky Henderson could make history if favourite Might Bite wins. Buveur D'Air and Altior already landed the other races for him. Tune in at 3.30pm to find out if he can do it.

Looking to stop this from happening is Willie Mullins. This week he became Cheltenham's most successful ever trainer, surpassing Henderson. Mullins has never won the Gold Cup. In many, many attempts. Today - he's got four runners involved, but none hugely fancied.
Last year's winning trainer was Jessica Harrington, who won with Sizing John, her first ever entry. If Our Duke wins for her today, she'll have an unprecedented two from two, a 100% record.
>> Lucky 7 Update <<
One more chance at Cheltenham!

Play William Hill's Lucky 7 game for the last time at Cheltenham. It's completely free to enter and up to a £100,000 jackpot to be won today.

You pick a horse in each of the seven races. If you predict all seven winners, you win the £50,000 jackpot (or a share of it, depending whether anyone else wins too). If no-one pick seven winners then the person who picks best gets £1,000.

You don't need to put any money down and, in playing along, you'll be helping to support Popbitch. You just need to login with your Facebook or William Hill account, or register through the Lucky 7 site or app. Then make sure you have made your selection before the first race at 1.30pm. An unlucky player picked six winners on Tuesday, but only had the second in the final race! Hope you are luckier.

What to look for

How to pick a Gold Cup winner? The best answer to that is probably "don't ask us..." as we were way out last year. But here's some stats to bear in mind.

The winner is usually
- aged seven to nine
- the winner of a race this season
- rated 166+
- top three in the betting

Doing well in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day is often a good sign too.

Today's favourite Might Bite? Aged 9, won both his races this season (including the King George) and is rated 169. So we're going with him.

Two others to look for? Bachasson is a possible good each way, as he's been backed this week from 50/1 to 28/1. And there's quite a bit of support for Road to Respect. Good luck!
Today's other tips: 1.30 Apples Shakira (7/4), 2.10 Meri Devie (14/1), 2.50 Santini (9/2), 4.10 Virak (14/1)
