United away is my favourite game of the season.

So so excited for tomorrow. Just hope Jose doesn’t wreck it!

Fuck off. With the bindippers here.

Lewis
09-03-2018, 05:45 PM
Mourinho has chosen to MIND GAME Gary Neville in the build-up, presumably to cover his arse from any DISGRACE allegations when they go 8-1-1 and steal a famous 0-0.

Mike
09-03-2018, 06:08 PM
I hope we barter united and their boring football, I can see them stinking it up and beating us 1-0 with all their fans thinking itÂ’s the best thing ever. :(

Lewis
09-03-2018, 06:13 PM
It would be. Can just see Jurgen 'Jurgen Klopp' Klopp in the post-match interview now. He sounds like he's apologising for the conduct of his nation during the war, but then oh no he isn't he's off on one...

Bingo. If they did Sanes achilles and decapitated Salah in the process it would be an added bonus.

Bingo. If they did Sanes achilles and decapitated Salah in the process it would be an added bonus.

Don't know, Sané doing his achilles might give us an outside chance. Somehow doubt it, though.

The Debate - Live. Tim Sherwood reckons Dave Gayer is 'one of the top three' goalkeepers in the league, and Phil Thompson agonised between Dejan Lovren and Chris Smalling (went with Lovren) in his combined XI before pulling Tactics Tim up for picking Eric Bailly 'when he can't get in the United side'.

Sir Andy Mahowry
09-03-2018, 10:35 PM
And they get paid for that...

Lewis
09-03-2018, 10:39 PM
The revelation in this Lukaku/Henry special that he spitefully 'retired' from the Belgian youth team because they played him on the wing is the start of me becoming a major fan.

Ian
09-03-2018, 10:55 PM
Ah, it's time to pretend that Liverpool / United isn't consistently the dullest big game of the year, is it?

Lewis
09-03-2018, 11:08 PM
Those inexplicable 'LvG' era wins were pretty fun.

Ian

Is Martial injured or is he just not going to play again in case he scores?

niko_cee
10-03-2018, 09:02 AM
I wonder, with these games, does Klopp's emotional style help or hinder his sides? He doesn't have a brilliant record in finals, does he? Which would be your prototypical big games, but then he has a pretty good record in more conventional league 'big games'.

We could smash them to pieces but 1-0 scrapfest for Man United is most likely. Urgh.

That said. I'm just hoping we get champions league again and so it's not 'that' important.

Sounds like keepball rather than sitting back from United:

“Juan Mata offers experience, and has the capacity to move into areas where he can connect our game, because he is very intelligent. Liverpool are a very strong team in fast counter attack, in transition, so the more times we lose the ball, the more chances they have for that transition. If we are more consistent, we try to reduce the possibility of their super-dangerous counter-attack. So let’s see if Mata can help us! They are not the kind of team to sit in a low block waiting for us. Is this aggressive defence? I don’t know. The objective is to be in front of them at the end of the season, not today. We want to win the game. Paul Pogba is injured, yesterday in training. He was in an unlucky situation. I really don’t know when he is back.”

Bailly probably a bigger deal. It'd be handy for them if he usually played left side so he could try to stop Salah.

Being murdered by the long ball.

Serj
10-03-2018, 12:56 PM
Lovren unable to deal with long balls in the lead-up to both goals. Alexander-Arnold with no sense of where he should be. Doesn't look good.

randomlegend
10-03-2018, 01:10 PM
Again that defending, holy shit.

I reckon if every team attacked them they'd let in 100 goals a season. They'd probably win 6-5 a lot of games, but still.

Serj
10-03-2018, 01:10 PM
That's impressively creative defending. United are going to score a couple more if this goes on.

It's not actually been too bad. We've had 3 or 4 chances that could quite easily have been goals. United going up the other end and scoring instantly on 2 of them. Trent is having a nightmare. You have to expect Lukaku to be winning headers and cover the flick on.

Aside from that United are defending very well. We'll need to grab a goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half to slow them down.

Why don't United play like this every game though?

Serj
10-03-2018, 01:24 PM
Why don't United play like this every game though?

I imagine not every team offers the same amount of space to run into from a flick-on. Haven't seen too many of their games though.

Serj
10-03-2018, 01:45 PM
Just stick Mané as far up front as possible. His passing is terrible.

Boydy
10-03-2018, 01:46 PM
Liverpool have been shit going forward today too. Not enough movement off the ball (although to be fair the United defence isn't leaving much space to move into) and some very sloppy passing as well.

Gray Fox
10-03-2018, 01:51 PM
I wouldn't be taking the Ox off here. He's the only one that seems to be doing well.

Boydy
10-03-2018, 01:52 PM

Yeah, seems a bad decision to me. I'd have taken Mane off.

I wish we had a goalkeeper a fraction as good as Degay. Abby Bailly is a monster.

Lewis
10-03-2018, 01:53 PM
Liverpool have been alright. You just can't walk through seven defenders all that easily. Even Chris Smalling has been good, since he isn't having to expose himself like a muppet.

Liverpool should have been shooting more. With that many defenders you can get all sorts of deflections and re-bounds and whatever, and one is bound to get past Bailly eventually.

Serj
10-03-2018, 02:28 PM
Mané is so frustrating. Of all the attacking players, he was the one to look for the ball the most, drop deep, offer support to midfielders and such. But if he has to pass a ball there's a 50 percent chance that he'll just give it straight to the defender.

Deserved win for United.

Reg

Definite penalty from Fellaini on Mane, I thought.

I don't know why Salah didn't stay wide to receive the ball and have a proper run at Young. He wasn't helping himself joining the congestion in the middle.

United were good. Much better with Bailly (cracking own goal), he helps them so much. Smalling/whoever is beside him always seems calmer.

Some goal from Rashford. He could still be a star.

Lewis
10-03-2018, 03:07 PM
The handball was the most likely penalty. Mane and Fellainimania just run into each other.

Lewis
10-03-2018, 03:09 PM

It really is a pretty dreamy line-up down the bottom of the table. Seeing the 'safe hands' of Woy, Pards and Moyesy relegate their respective clubs would be great, Lambert taking Stoke down would be more than acceptable. Just a shame that the outside shot at Everton going seems to have gone.

Palace have got wall-to-wall 6 pointers after they stop playing all the top teams on this current run, mind.

igor_balis

God I hope they replace PARDZ with an interesting foreign geezer and go for youthful exuberance in the transfer market. We'll almost certainly grab someone off the mediocrity merry-go-round and sign crap players with "championship experience" for bloated wages. I'm not sure how much I agree with them, but the consensus on westbrom.com (a pretty reasonable, intelligent bunch as far as fan forums go) is very glum. A lot of people seem to think there's as much chance of us going down to league one as coming back up at first attempt.

Option three, mate - they do just enough to stay up every year and pocket the difference knowing you will turn up regardless.

Kenedy's second was lush. Southampton had all of the ball and did nowt with it.
His first wasn't bad either. That touch off the chest and then the turn is class.

Bit of a downer for us yesterday. Perhaps a lull in intensity now that we're almost there. The FA Cup week has probably come at a good time.

That miss from Morelos at the end was a crime. Between today and the last Old Firm he should have had six goals against them. Cummings needs to start from now on. I like Morelos' strength and the way he bullies defenders but there's no point in all that if he's just going to spaff four chances a game.

He's a manc mate. He's not spitting.

From Jamie

"The issue of spitting, sadly, has emerged again this week with Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse both being condemned," he wrote in his Mail column on Saturday.

"As usual, there have been a number of people who have said 'it is the worst thing that can happen on a pitch'; it is vile but let me assure you now -- I would have preferred Lucas Neill to have spat at me the day he broke my leg in September 2003!

"I was spat at once in my career. It came during a UEFA Cup game against Celta Vigo in 1998 and the player in question was a Russian midfielder called Aleksander Mostovoi. I was shocked more than angry when he did it because I couldn't believe what had happened.

"Cisse has admitted being in the wrong and hit with a seven-game ban. I know it is a disgusting thing to do but I do think that punishment seems a little excessive, particularly if you compare it to an over-the-top tackle that would 'only' get three games.

"For Evans, the incident doesn't look good at all. It would have been easy enough for him to spit well away from Cisse.

"One final thing: all those people who have said about Evans 'he's not that type of lad.' Who is then? Is there are a list somewhere of names who are 'that type'? It is a stupid thing to say. It's not about his character. It's about whether he had a moment of madness, deliberately or not."

Fulham got to the Europa League final the year prior finishing 12th on 46 points. Hughes got 49. That Fulham team was bloody good.

If Fulham were to have earned 49 points the year prior they would have finished 11th.
