So yeah, as I said in the downtime message, the server was hacked and crucial files were deleted from the server, which completely broke the board. Fortunately I was online as it was happening, so I was able to quickly take a backup of the database. However, there was no guarantee that the database didn't have malicious code injected into it, so I instead had to manually copy over the posts, threads, users, PMs, etc all to a fresh install. Fun times.

There might still be some bugs. I've spotted that avatars are missing, which people will just have to reupload. Any big issues, post them in here and I'll do my best to fix them.

Just to add, there are some plugins not installed yet, so things like reputation, notifications when being quoted, and a few others, aren't yet working. Those can wait til tomorrow.

Actually it seems to only be broken on WiFi. Only works on the phone when I'm on LTE, but broken on both the phone and laptop when on WiFi.

That's correct on both counts. However, a few points:


We'd need to migrate to a completely fresh install to completely get rid of all aspects of the dodgy version installed. Either that or the board starts from scratch. It was always on the agenda, but it was difficulty to justify a 12 hour job when it didn't seem that urgent.
We were keeping it on Baz's server (and paying for it) because moving to a cloud server (which we're using now) was considerably more expensive. The idea is that we wanted to make the money last as long as possible. I did start the migration process back in November, but just never got around to finishing it.
We had backups daily, but they were stored on the same server. I'll see if there's a vBulletin plugin to store on AWS or something, but again, that's more money.


I'm not sure about anonymous browsing. I thought we turned it on for a while to spite Bish, but then turned it back off.

Change the DNS in your router (search Google for your router address, usually the one Magic posted, and how to change DNS settings) then change primary to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4.

Takes about a minute.

If anyone encountered errors in the last few minutes, it was due to me working on getting the SSL certificate installed. However, the process needs vital parts of the server to be turned off, so I'll deal with it another time.

Edit - I decided to just do it now, as barely anyone was online anyway. The forum is now being served over HTTPS.
