I did half a mug of grand marnier, blackcurrant lemsip and honey the other week for a sore throat.

Didn't work but it's nice.

I don't think anything really works for suppressing coughs (from having a look at the evidence base a while ago), not even the codeine based ones. Just have to ride the misery out.
