After reading on here what browsers people use and reading this about a new browser for Power Users - Wired.com (http://www.wired.com/2015/09/thompson-3/?mbid=synd_moz_techgen)

I want to know what browsers people use.

Vivaldi is the new one on the block, I am currently trying out.
Generally I use Firefox with DuckDuckGo.com as my search engine. This doesn't store any browsing info etc...

Out there at the moment is

IE 11
Microsoft Edge
Firefox
Chrome
Vivaldi
Opera
Safari
SeaMonkey
and a few more - link

What do you use and why? also the search engine.

I switched from Chrome to Safari over a year ago now I think. Chrome seemed to be running slowly a lot for me, whereas Safari feels quicker and more lightweight in comparison. Usability-wise they seem pretty similar.

Still on Chrome. I downloaded Opera the other week because I have dreadfully slow internet at the moment and was told it was the best on low bandwidth, but I've never got into the habit of actually using it.

Still on Chrome even though I know it performs like shit. It takes a lot to make the switch.

Apparently the new IE is quite good. Or whatever it's name is, Edge?

Edge is ok, just found it annoying as I like to have my bookmarks at the top in a particular order, but you can not with Edge at the moment.

Chrome. Out of the 5 things I use it came preinstalled on 3 of them.

Chrome. Would be Firefox but having Google translate in the right click menu is too useful for how much I use it, and no Firefox addon I've tried is as good as it.

Chrome. The logging into Google and it then having all your bookmarks and passwords is great. I use it on my PC, laptop and phone and all 3 are synced.

Chrome. It used to be Firefox but I switched when I got a new computer back in December and I've been happy enough with Chrome since.

Got an HP Stream laptop recently and updated it to Windows 10 so it's got Edge on it. It seems okay but you can't add extensions to it yet so there's no ad blocker which is annoying.

Chrome, Firefox and IE8 (lol - this is in digital for fucks sake) at work.

Chrome at home, Safari on the move and occasionally at home when making use of handoff.

Firefox on my pc, Ghostery on my tablet.

I used to some mega-secure Indian browser called 'Epic' before I got a new OS. It didn't save anything whatsoever and even had a bit in proxy option. Was alright.

I'm Firefox due to habit, even though it takes a while to chug and get started and all your passwords are as secure as writing your PIN on your hand. They keep updating it which changes the layout, I keep having to change it back. I should take a screengrab for next time so I know exactly where the buttons are and how they're ordered, it's one of the few stresses I have.

Really? That'll probably make me switch too. The internet with ads is fucking annoying.

They're thinking of blocking it on Youtube at least, which is fair enough, but if it's much more than that then I'll use something else.

MS Edge can fuck right off, you can't even control its volume in the normal way. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

Advertisers probably, no getting out of hearing their utter shite with the mute button.

If life is going to just be one long dash away from advertisers who say you MUST view their ads OR ELSE I'll probably just stop using the internet and become a subsistence farmer.

I don't mind if it's supporting someone/something that I'm getting for free. Advertising is often the only monetisation available to Youtube channels so I whitelist some of those already, a 5 second ad at the start of an hour long video is perfectly acceptable.

Chrome. It's shit though, and every few months I get infuriated enough with it to try Firefox again. I then quickly remember there is a problem with Firefox which makes me go back to Chrome every time.

I can never remember what the problem is until the next cycle though.

For anyone with an unrooted Android phone that uses Chrome, look up #Nochromo. Basically an identical browser to Chrome with a built-in ad-blocker.

Nice will take a look, which version do I use for a S4?

The S4 should be arm32 (maybe just marked arm on that list). Nearly all phones will be one of the arm ones unless they've an Intel SoC (x86).

Working great for me. I had to reboot once I'd installed the apk to get rid of the sign in notification in the top bar but that was it. Just disabled Chrome then and apart from the icon and no ads you'd see no difference.

Actually, I've just copped on too that if you're using a launcher (Nova, Action, etc) you can change the icon from the blue one to the regular one anyway.

First person to use "Other"

Pale Moon (a rebuilt Firefox) mostly at home, occasionally Opera for things that won't work without certain scripts or tracking. Mostly IE at work because, you know, enterprise. Chrome on my phone.

I have Chrome as a back up for the few things that play up in Safari.

The best thing about Pale Moon compared to Firefox is you're able to arrange bookmarks alphabetically. #thesimplethings

This insinuates you cannot do it in Firefox. Well, you can as I've just shown you.

Be clearer next time. What you should have stated was: 'you're able to arrange bookmarks alphabetically in two less clicks!!!'.

After a few years of using Chrome I thought I'd give Firefox a go when I got this laptop so I've been using it for the past month or so. It seems to be pretty slow at rendering pages (I've been using it on several wifi networks so it's not internet speed) and I don't really like the layout.

Back to Chrome it is.

Safari because I only really use my phone.

My work is a nightmare as I have so many different systems that I use. Some that will only work in Explorer, some that work quicker in Firefox and some that automatically open in Edge.

I have an add on called New Tab Redirect which might be why it works differently to yours, I think that lets me set Google as the default page for new tabs because that somehow got patched out at some point.

When I first got the laptop I'm using now (around September time), I started using Firefox but then seitched back to Chrome as Firefox seemed to take ages to render pages. I think Firefox Quantum has been released since then. Is it much better?

I suppose it's not that big a deal, I just need to get out of the habit of closing it to close all tabs and just use the right click menu.

Plus it blocks adds, trackers etc seems good so far.

Ive been using Edge this morning for some reason, and when you minimize the browser, its mutes any audio playing through the browser.
