I hate how they apply away goals in this. Can anybody cast their mind back to the days of two-legged second round ties? Was it applied then as well?

Reg is a lazy arse and no-one actually cared about the City Bristol game.
It's Arsenal v Chelsea tonight in the Milk Cup.
Fabregas, Morata and Courtois are all out for Chelsea.
Monreal is touch and go for Arsenal but apart from that the rest of the team, outside of Giroud and other longer term ones, is there.
Er..

I'd like to see Boss Rarkley ahead of Bakayoko, but that aside I think this is our best available team.

Glen Murray, a mediocre Championship footballer has just been arrested for defrauding HMRC of 1.1 million pounds. But it's Alexis Sanchez that is the example of too much money in the game.

Is he not a premier league footballer?

When did we last have a proper tax fraud case? Seems like forever.

Bakayoko does look far better, as do Chelsea, with just the two in midfield.

Such a stupid basic training ground goal to concede there. 1-0 hazard.
Jimmy Floyd
24-01-2018, 08:12 PM
That on the other hand I think was the luckiest goal in the history of football. Arsenal fans shouldn't be allowed to celebrate it.

This is the opposite of a normal Arsenal-Chelsea game. We're all over them but you know they're going to score.

Another total fluke, do me a favour.
You can see why we need Ashley Barnes tbh. No presence up front without Morata.

Someone needs to put Batshuayi out of his misery. One of the worst strikers I've seen in a blue shirt and that is saying something.

Death. Taxes. Conte bringing a full back on.

Arsenal are winning 2-1 with 20 minutes left, and xhaka is still making bursting runs behind the chelsea defense like he is a prime freddie ljungberg

Italian managers are so predictable. Straight switching full backs, dropping deep for 10 minutes as soon as you score, having a needless second formation that you use 30-50% of the time even though it's rubbish.

Ross Barkley’s corners hahahahaha
Jimmy Floyd

Vile second half performance but an indication of our self-contradicting recruitment policy in which depth is reviled and League One level players like Batshuayi are bought for accounting reasons.

Ross Barkley’s corners hahahahaha
I was thinking, if I have to watch him stabbing set pieces into the first man for the next four years I might as well just go and watch Woking.

I don't get what they're doing with him. One minute he's playing MK Dons in whatever that fucking tournament is that replaced the Johnstones Paint Trophy.... then he's reportedly off to Sevilla on loan and then he's starting meaningful games.
Jimmy Floyd

The Operation won't have helped him, but he had zero ability to begin with apart from finishing given masses of time and space. He should go to PSV and score 80 a season.

Conte moaning about his small squad is a little weird given that Chelsea have 25 first team squad members, 6 further first-teamers "un-registered", 22 U23 players and 33 players out on loan... ok, they may not all be as good has Hazard, but don't loan out 33 players then moan about having a small squad.
Also, he spent 180 odd million in the summer on 5 players. Talk about passing the buck.

He should lose his job for that result.

Conversely, that's Wenger being enshrined as the immortal 'Dear Leader' forever. The day he leaves is the day a statue goes up outside the Emirates of him.

We have (or had before this window, I've lost count) 19 players in the PL 25 man squad. It's the smallest squad in the league.
Conte makes absolutely no transfer decisions at all - zero - so you can't blame him for spending money, loaning out players or whatever. His impact on recruitment is the same as mine and yours. Marina Granovskaiya is now in sole control of all player movements at the club (Emenalo was also involved until he left).

Then he's an idiot for accepting the job.
EDIT: Except obviously the tons of cash he is getting paid :D

Soon, no coach/manager will have any say. Even Wenger is losing his influence at Arsenal. Look at baseball for the model they are following (especially clubs with American ownership influences): the manager is literally just a goon who picks the team from the players he's given, sits in the dugout and points at things (and wears full kit, which is pretty comical in the case of overweight managers in their 50s). All the decisions are taken by General Manager upstairs and his team of faceless, unaccountable scouts and analysts.
Your boy Jürgen might have a voice on the 'transfer committee' but he won't have any decision-making ability.

The head coach model is fine, as long as the person is good at coaching. There's a lot to be said for coaching a team that goes beyond being able to pick/put players into positions on a whiteboard.

That's 1 win in 8 for Conte versus Arsenal. I remember when we didn't beat Chelsea for what felt like a decade.

Hopefully he gets a terrible injury.
Sanchez looks like he's been on the gear already. Classy though, let's not break his attacking spirit like we do with all our other talented midgets.
