As requested in the Switch thread.

Just realised I bought a bunch of Starfruit for summer and forgot to plant it. Luckily I'm only a few days in so I should be able to still make a decent profit off of it. It's the most profitable plant in the game but you need to turn it into Wine and then age the wine in a Cask (which I can't get yet) to make the most of it. Oh well, hopefully regular wine from it will fund my investment into a Cellar and then casks so that next year I can take full advantage of it. Going to invest everything into it I think.

Only 150,000 gold needed to get there.... that won't be fun to save up.

I need to remember to plant all my 'rare seeds' on the 1st of Fall to find out what the fuck they are.

How do you feed from the silo in winter?

I only seem able to actually take Hay from the little trough into my possession but the animals aren’t laying eggs so guessing they’re not being fed.

Edit: figured it out.

Yea you take it from there and stick it on the thing at the back.

Just had my best money day so far. Sold a bunch of gem stones/artefacts I was sitting on after coming to the conclusion I'd never need them. Made 5310 on farming stuff (mainly Mayo), 327 on foraging, 5960 on Mining (all the gems) and then 1781 on 'Other' for the artefacts giving me 13,378 for one day. Not too bad. Shame I spent about 20k that day on Star Fruit seeds.

My best is around 3.7k or something which I don't think is too bad considering it was in spring year 1, no animals, little idea of what I was doing etc.

Should smash the fuck out of it on my first Summer harvest though.

Thinking I'll get myself a silo after the first harvest comes around and stock it up in preparation for animals. I really need a rain day though as I really need to go to the mines soon.

Browning
03-01-2018, 08:25 PM
Rain days are obviously the best for mining but you can use food or the spa to restore energy to let you go mining after doing your crops.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 08:38 PM
Spa?

I'm low on food right now sadly.

Browning
03-01-2018, 08:41 PM
It's to the North of the construction shop. You just walk in, get in the water and your energy recovers.

Just had a crop fairy come and speed up one of my plants.

Browning
03-01-2018, 09:19 PM
Finally got 25 grand to invest in the top sword and it makes mincemeat of the mines. Went in and did about 15 levels with no fuss and got enough ore to make 11 bombs so I may now be set for the harder mines. Money wise I'm now all focused on getting 150,000g for house upgrades.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 09:36 PM
Got to level 20 in the mines but almost died.

Went past midnight and on 19 I got attacked by about 8 flying bugs, had to eat an ice cream and some berries and only survived with 2 health.

Hopefully the second sword will help me push on.

It's also finally a rainy day \0/. No watering for me.

Browning
03-01-2018, 10:22 PM
First trip to the second mine was a complete failure as I only made it down about 8 floors (there's no check points unlike the other one and you have to make it to floor 25 for the mission). I've been stocking up my Cheese ready for another attempt at it but still making money now my crops are coming in. Up to 40k in hand so 1-2 more days should get me the first (50k) upgrade... then just the 100k to go.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 10:36 PM
Found level 30 at 1am :eyemouth:

Took me ages on level 29, I just couldn't find the fucking stairs.

Browning
03-01-2018, 10:38 PM
You can make a stair case for x amount of stone that lets you just skip to the next floor. You can also use bombs to blow up loads of rocks at once. I rarely did either of those things, but I did occasionally use the stairs when enemies were swarming me.

Just got married to Haley

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 10:49 PM
I actually got a cherry bomb from one of those rock bastards but none of the rocks I blew up with it had them.

I also didn't have enough stone on hand (loads in my trunks) for the staircase.

Day of the luau and my farm produces a few gold melons

Up to 3 hearts with Abigail.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 10:52 PM
9,621G for the day.

25 normal melons - 6875
8 silver melons - 2744
2 gold melons - 824

Browning
03-01-2018, 11:01 PM
2nd attempt at the second mines and I got to Level 16. I'm sure I would have made it to 25 if I had infinite time but I bailed at midnight and by the time I got back I passed out in my house. The cheese was easily enough to keep me alive and I had enough bombs but just left it too late in the day. Will re-stock and try again tomorrow.

The Mrs has watered the crops though... so maybe I'll try it again straight away when I play tomorrow. Guess it depends if I think I have enough bombs.

There's nothing quite like catching a shopkeeper (Robin so she can build me a silo) just as they're leaving their shopping station for the day.

Sir Andy Mahowry
03-01-2018, 11:41 PM
Record is going to be SMASHED tomorrow as my blueberry plants have come good.

251 normals, 23 silvers and 13 golds.

Just came across a legendary fish:

I failed.

1875-2812G missed out on :(

FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK, missed out on another one.

Never seen that, don't know how I'd recognise it if I did.

Gave Skull Cavern another crack and got it, so that nets me 10k. Every little helps towards the target. Time to get a nursery built and start having kids.

Two days in a row my wife was a hero and did all the crops. The third day she "fed all the animals". No, my deluxe barn/coop do that automatically you lazy bitch.

Up to 65k in the bank because the construction shop was shut. She better be there when I play tomorrow, I need that fucking upgrade.

Am tempted to invest in a few more pigs because they are comfortably the best animal in the game. That said the day I spent mining all my animals were left outside to fend for themselves and only the pig failed to find food and got pissed off. Where were you then Haley? Where were you? Watering the fucking crops, that's where.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Went back to my spot and missed out on the legendary fish twice again.

The bastard is taunting me.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Nothing like going to the mine only to realise that you've taken your fucking axe instead of your pickaxe.

Sigh.

I didn't even bring my fishing rod so I have to go back or I can just chop wood around town, ffs.

Just looked at a random day to see what my animals made me:

Chickens- 2280g between them which is 325.71 each (the differences in quality is why it isn't a whole number).
Duck- Nothing as it only produces eggs every other day, but when he does I think it's roughly double what the chickens make, meaning he's about the same as a chicken.
Sheep- 564g, but he only produces wool every 2-3 days. If we call it every 2.5 days then it's 225.60 per day.
Rabbit- Nothing, but when he does he's the same as a sheep. If anything he produces wool even less than the sheep though, so I'm sure it's less than the 225.60
Cows- 1080g between them for a total of 360g each
Pig- 1250g on his own, and he does this every day.

No fucking contest for best animal. May sell all the other cunts to fund more pigs.

Just harvested my first lot of Starfruit. Stupidly wasted 3 of them by putting them in the seed machine and replanting forgetting they would die at the end of the season, but going to invest heavily into them and put them in the Greenhouse. The outcome was:

19 regular Starfruit- 14,250
15 Silver Star Fruit- 14,250
7 Gold Star Fruit for 7875g

Along with a few other bits and bobs that sets my new record for a day at 41,466g

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 09:29 PM
Got to 35 in the mines but didn't think I would.

31 was a bitch as it was almost entirely black with about 4 bats (fuckers wouldn't die) and I had no torch. I only found the stairs because I tried to move through it and couldn't.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 09:30 PM
Man these blueberries have made me a fuckton of money.

Second harvest and it's a 16.3k job.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 10:06 PM
Make that 5 times I've fucked up with the legendary fish.

He's so fucking hard to catch.

Edit: 6, I want to bash it's fucking brains in.

Edit: 7 now, I thought I had that tackle that slowed them down but I guess not.

Edit: 8.

Edit: 9, I thought I had it as it was on green but then it went mental.

Edit: 10...

Edit: 11, fml.

Edit: 12, this fish is going to kill me.

32,000 away from the final house upgrade.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 10:34 PM
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, I fucking caught the bastard.

13th time is the fucking charm, you fucking dickhead fish.

Also got a chest with it which had 2 magma geodes.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 10:38 PM
2812 gold for the bastard.

Seriously wasn't worth all the time spent failing to catch it.

Browning
04-01-2018, 10:46 PM
I'm now 3 apples and a Rabbit's foot away from completing all the bundles. I have an apple tree so that will be ticked off 3 days into fall, just need my fucking Rabbit to produce for me.

17k away now which means I would have done it if I didn't invest more into Star Fruit, but they're so worth it.

Edit- tick off another 8.5k so we'll get it in another 1-2 days of game time, but I'll probably do it tomorrow. Also made a baby

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 11:00 PM
Coop (and chickens) or upgrade my house first?

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 11:03 PM
Also, this game hates me.

Every morning it seems that the weather report for the next day is sun and the spirits are pissed off at me.

Browning
04-01-2018, 11:04 PM
Coop probably. The chickens will turn you a profit while the house upgrade won't. I'd get it at some point but not until you've got some animals set up, got your tools upgraded sufficiently and got the biggest backpack available.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 11:09 PM
I've got the biggest backpack but I've only upgraded my axe to copper.

I've got like 40k on hand.

Browning
04-01-2018, 11:23 PM
I'm assuming you don't have Iron. Get your Pickaxe to Copper to help you do more mining without losing as much energy, and your Axe to copper too (just seen you already did that, so that's good). I haven't bothered with the Scythe/Hoe at all. In fact I don't even know if the Scythe can be upgraded or how that would work.

I would recommend getting the Axe to at least Steel when you can and the Pickaxe as high as you can as it makes mining much less of a problem energy wise which allows you to mine more ores. You need a Steel axe to open a secret area which whilst not game changing, does provide a few materials you'll need later. Pickaxe should be the priority and then normal Axe.

In winter I would upgrade your watering can as high as you can because you don't need it in winter.

Sir Andy Mahowry
04-01-2018, 11:44 PM
I have a bit of iron (geodes) but I'm still lacking on copper.

I really need to hit the mines more and focus on finding the copper rocks.

Browning
05-01-2018, 12:38 AM
Yea, you probably need a few mine days just simply going for copper ore. You only need 25 ore per tool you want to upgrade and as you've already done the axe you could probably get away with just finding 25 for your Pickaxe (which could be 1 trip to the mines... possibly two if you're unlucky). It wouldn't hurt to stash some more away to do your watering can later, but as I said before, once you upgrade the Pickaxe this stuff will come easier.

Essentially floors 0-40 are mainly copper, 40-80 mainly iron and then 80-120 mainly gold, so you should be coming into a lot more iron soon.

Pleb
05-01-2018, 03:58 PM
Now that I've got to grips with this game how do you get to the spa (or in this case if on an early game how do you unlock it?)?

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 04:13 PM
Unlocks on the third day of Summer when you get a notice about an earthquake.

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 04:36 PM
Went to the mines today for a pure copper run, only came back with 19. Not bad but not great.

Another 15.6k day thanks to the blueberries though and the coop is being built.

Edit: Storm tomorrow, I can spend the whole day mining \0/.

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 04:53 PM
45 ore today and a Dwarf scroll IV. That's more fucking like it.

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 06:07 PM
Got down to level 40 (well 43) and I only just got into the door at 2 which was stupid.

Got loads of stuff though (thank you copper pickaxe) including a dwarf scroll 1.

Edit: And another scroll.

Browning
05-01-2018, 08:37 PM
Nice work. Now you've hit 40 you should be able to mine enough iron to get the Steel Pickaxe/Axe.

Not got to play today yet but hopefully shortly I can finish off my mission to buy a cellar.

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 08:42 PM
Yeah, 3 days and I've already got the blacksmith doing my new pickaxe.

Edit: Or even the axe :\

Browning
05-01-2018, 09:45 PM
The axe is fine, as I said before, you're gonna need it to open a secret area. If you want to know it's in the forest just north of the Wizard's house. There's a log there you need a Steel Axe to break down and enter the area behind it.

Sir Andy Mahowry
05-01-2018, 09:46 PM
Gone a bit more mental in the fall.

150 Cranberries
100 IIRC Pumpkins
60 Eggplants
2 yams
1 ancient seed
1/2 rare seed
a handful of mixed seeds and I'm sure some other shit plus some corn from Summer.

2:20pm is when I finished watering, ugh.

Browning
06-01-2018, 12:11 AM
Didn't get much chance to play today but completed Summer Year 2 and got my 100k so my cellar is being built. Not sure what I want to achieve in fall, aside from completing the community centre. I'll probably produce some Iridium sprinklers and just have my greenhouse producing constant star fruit and then not have to worry about watering crops anymore.

Browning
06-01-2018, 07:10 PM
First Star Fruit harvest from my Greenhouse is in and yielded my 35,000g. It's not that amazing because it cost me 16,000 to replace them with new seeds, but about 25% of what I grew has been placed into Kegs to turn it into wine. That wine will soon be worth another 20,000g, or if I age it with my casks will be worth 40,500 though that does take 2 full seasons to complete. If i bother with that though it'll be 75,500g from seeds that cost 16,000 to buy. It's a shame I picked the wrong profession so I'm not making as much as I possibly could from there. It's really quite lame that picking the "animal products" choice then stops you getting the artisan upgrade when Artisan goods are so closely linked to animal products, at least in the early game.

Still, considering I don't need to water them I'll be continuing on with my Starfruit investment at least until I get anything better to put in the Greenhouse. Once my corn dies at the end of fall I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll bother planting outside again.

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-01-2018, 11:15 PM
Pickaxe is being upgraded but I've just completed the blacksmith bundles to get the minecarts

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-01-2018, 11:39 PM
Blah, forgot to claim the ring they give and I can't get it now because the bundle is complete.

Sir Andy Mahowry
07-01-2018, 11:46 PM
I think I just won the retard gold medal.

I decided to make a fence around my coop but I end up boxing myself in and I don't have my pickaxe to destroy them so I passed out.

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 01:26 AM
Finally got rain on the 15th.

Abigail is at 8 hearts now and I've given her the bouquet. I'm going to make an honest woman out of her soon.

Edit: Thanks to the rain I'm down to level 85 and I think I just got the last dwarf scroll that I needed.

Browning
08-01-2018, 03:12 PM
Rings are pretty shit so I wouldn't worry about missing one, though I'm not sure which one it was.

Think you could have just built a gate, and let yourself out, assuming you had whatever material was needed for a gate.

The game doesn't really tell you how to get married, so if you want to know:

Get to 10 hearts and then wait for a rainy day. Then you'll need to visit the guy who stands on the beach all the time and buy a shell from him for 5 grand which lets you propose. I'm not sure if you need to have fixed the bridge (300 wood) before you can get to him).

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 06:17 PM
Yeah I know about the guy and he's on the regular bit of the beach although I've unlocked the other side too.

It was a small magnet one so pretty pointless.

I also tried putting a gate but it didn't work, I was completely stuck and passed out with Joja taking 1k from me.

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 06:47 PM
Put in 3 gold pumpkins, a purple mushroom, a large egg, a pumpkin soup, a gold sturgeon, an emerald and a gold melon for 99 points and a win.

Time to bet on green.

Browning
08-01-2018, 07:19 PM
A gate definitely should have worked. It took me a while to get it right when I used one, but you just stick it between 2 posts that are already connected, and then open it. Oh well, 1000g won't hurt too much in the grand scheme of things.

I should have that festival soon too so hopefully I can get the Star Drop. Before I knew what they were I cashed in for the Rarecrow in year 1...

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 07:24 PM
FUCK.

I was powering through the mines and died as I was looking at my health.

5000g down the drain (meh), 4 items (unsure what) and 8 fucking levels gone.

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 07:28 PM
I'm missing about 14 bombs so that was one of the items. I just bought a load from the dwarf at 600g a pop.

Browning
08-01-2018, 07:29 PM
That's always a bitch. The penalty seems really harsh. It's only happened to me a couple of times, but it sucks. Don't go mining with any valuable items.

Sir Andy Mahowry
08-01-2018, 07:55 PM
Got down to 95 (well 97 but then had to bail as it was infested and getting later) but I did manage to get like 90 fucking gold ores, 6 omni geodes, 8 magma geodes and some other nice goodies.

Makes up for fainting the day before.

Sir Andy Mahowry
09-01-2018, 06:36 PM
Got to 10 hearts with Abigail and I just hit 120 in the mines.

Started upgrading my water can as it's winter now.

Annoyingly, fall only had three fucking rain days for me so I really need to make sure I have lots of sprinklers for spring.

Edit: Bought a barn and put 7 mayo machines (making a killing on eggs now), couple of furnaces, a recycling machine and a pickling thing. Wasn't going to buy any cows but I caved a few days later. Just realised that I'm going to be like 40 hay short which is annoying. Guess Marnie will be taking more money from me.

Sir Andy Mahowry
10-01-2018, 10:29 PM
Unlocked the desert and I also got a prismatic shard a couple of days prior so I've got a galaxy sword.

60-80 damage with 4 speed
