How is Besiktas top in Group G?

John Arne

Seville-Liverpool is being played at a proper mad pace. Should be 3-3, as it is, it's 2-0 to Liverpool.

John Arne
21-11-2017, 08:16 PM
Offff. 3-0.

In fairness this is what they should have done to them in the first leg/match.

And Spartak.

Moreno really doesn't like playing against Seville, does he :D

Benzema only able to score against Cypriot goat herders, lol.

Moreno concedes a pointless free kick. Moreno is beaten in the air at the front post. Goal to Sevilla.

Liverpool playing like they want to get Istanbul'd here.

Sir Andy Mahowry

Moreno was in the Guardian the other day giving it the big 'un about he's not a spastic any more. I knew he was doomed from then...

Moreno just doesn’t like playing.

It's like the wafer cup final all over again.

John Arne
21-11-2017, 09:26 PM
I've no idea why Mercado wasn't booked (and sent off) for that ridiculous dive. Is diving not a bookable offence anymore?

In fact the Bundesliga as a whole seems to have slid horribly backwards ever since it acquired ', mate' status.

I loved that Kane goal earlier. He has absolutely no right scoring from that chance.

Spoonsky
21-11-2017, 09:40 PM
Liverpool playing like they want to get Istanbul'd here.

Yep.

That third was the most predictable goal in the history of football. There's a serious mental weakness in Liverpool under Klopp.

John Arne
21-11-2017, 09:40 PM
That second half was absolutely garbage. The front three completely switched and thought we had won already.

That said, Sevilla really are a horrible bunch of fucking cheating, moaning little cunts. Horrible players.

-james-
21-11-2017, 09:40 PM
Dortmund have serious issues but it's just their defence really. I watched the u19 fixture earlier and it really does appear to be a top-down system of fielding disabled centre-backs.

SvN
21-11-2017, 09:42 PM
It's a real shame that collapse won't really make any difference. I'd have loved it if it cost them qualification.

Luke Emia
21-11-2017, 09:43 PM
That was just like watching the second half of the Europa League final. Moreno was awful and maybe that will be the end of him but the amount of times we got caught with one ball taking Wijnaldum and Henderson out of the game was ridiculous.

Jimmy Floyd
21-11-2017, 09:43 PM
I really don't understand why Robertson isn't an ever-present there.

Guybrush
21-11-2017, 09:44 PM
That second half was absolutely garbage. The front three completely switched and thought we had won already.

Yep.

Had no out ball at all second half. Mané was completely shot after 70 minutes.

Gutted. Spartak game has a lot riding on it now.

Luke Emia
21-11-2017, 09:54 PM
I really don't understand why Robertson isn't an ever-present there.

One can only assume Moreno has something on Klopp. The thing is Robertson looked decent when he played. As I said hopefully that does for Moreno now.

Jimmy Floyd
21-11-2017, 10:03 PM
Does he have a director of databall telling him Moreno creates 0.2 more goals per month or something?

Having looked it up, yes he probably does.

CJay
21-11-2017, 10:07 PM
Someone should make a definitive catalogue of Moreno's cock ups. He's such a careless player, as he demonstrated perfectly in first miscontrolling the ball and then stupidly taking their moustachioed twat out.

We'll beat Spartak next time out and get Real in the second round.

Absolutely MAD game from THE MIGHTY BLADES last night.

1-0 up, 2-1 down, 2-2 but then 5-2 with 10 mins to go...ended 5-4. Mental.

'Driven past a goalkeeper who barely moved,' says our man on comms. The goalkeeper dived a good six yards across his goal and wound up a yard or two outside the post. It probably wouldn't have been within his ability to move much more than he did.

Ander Herrera becoming shit overnight is a weird one. His strengths were running about, doing so with a degree of tactical intelligence, and winding people up. It's not like he actually had any QUALITY, so what has happened?

Lewis
22-11-2017, 08:37 PM
If he was match fit Fellaini would have three goals already, and I think there is a good case for United using that David Moyes Everton tactic with him as a 'false nine' for the rest of the season.

Not that it matters much as they won’t lose the top spot unless they lose 4-1 or more against CSKA at home.

Edit: I think it might be 2-5 and even then they’re through.

Interesting situation in United's group. All three teams can now finish on 12 points. What happens if Basel have a better h2h against United, but a worse h2h against CSKA, and United have a better h2h against CSK but worse against Basel? Or is it all just goal difference?

Essentially a 3-team table is created with the results between those teams, which goes to goal difference. As it is now it's

Man United +5 (7-2)
Basel -1 (4-5)
Cska -4 (3-7)

So Cska need a 3 goal win.

Pen
22-11-2017, 09:56 PM
United had all but guaranteed the top spot after four games already. They would have to lose to CSKA 2-5 or more to lose the top spot and then Basel would have to fail to win against Benfica. If Basel win against Benfica it pretty much puts CSKA out unless they win by 4 or more at Old Trafford.

Edit: I remembered that United beat Basel 4-0 so yeah a 3 goal win would do it.

If I recall correctly in a 3way tie it's only the matches between those teams that get factored in.

Edit: "If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;"

So the results against Benfica are removed and it's Points>Goal difference>Goals scored>Away goals scored. It means United are top unless they lose by 5 goals or more and Basel can't be top (since CSKA will overtake them in that scenario). CSKA need 3 goals or more to go to the next round.

United should be alright as long as they play a goalkeeper, Ogba, and then just nine other random idiots. If it's ten idiots, or nine idiots and Nemanja Matic, then they're stuffed.

David Unsworth appears to be arguing with... himself re the Niasse dive.

"We don’t want contact taken out the game. Slowly but surely, piece by piece, it has started to come out of the game."

"I am all for protecting players and nobody wants to see bad tackles."

"But we do have to have experts who know what a foul is and those who don’t know the game… It’s a dangerous place and a dangerous precedent that could be set if decisions are given against you which are debatable."

"I think it’s a great rule but it doesn’t change my stance on if there’s contact anywhere on the pitch – slight or not, contact is contact."

Also, I thought it was common knowledge that the likes of Terry Butcher, Lee Dixon and Danny Murphy are on the panel... hardly "those who don’t know the game".
