Because it too deserves it's own thread.

I'm so shit at weapon management and really need to learn to keep better weapons instead of just flushing them down the toilet.

Brilliant game though.

I just came across one of these:

https://zelda.gamepedia.com/Electric_Wizzrobe

What the shit?

I thought it was friendly at first because it waved at me. I quickly fast travelled away because I'm too shit with my bow.

Went back and it was still there so got a critical hit in first and then rained down the pain.

Greatest game of all time. I don't really need to add much more, will be buying it again very soon.

Picked it up again today, off next week so I'm going back to Hyrule.

Rain needs to fuck off btw.

There's a cheese way to climb, even in rain.

I know but I'm either pretty bad at it or I'm trying to climb up cliffs that are too steep.

Aye almost vertical you can't cheese but there's always another way around.

It worried me when I heard it didn't really have classic Zelda dungeons. They were the most important part of the series, for mine.

Open world exploration and discovery is fantastic, make no mistake. But carefully-designed dungeons provide anchor points.

There's still four dungeons to complete, they just work differently/are technically optional.

So, in my wisdom to try and find a quicker way (and involving less enemies) to a certain place in the story where it rains a lot I just tried to climb up a waterfall using a certain rune. I spent about an hour trying to do it, failed and had to double back slightly :moop:

I did get right to the top but I just couldn't manage to get over the other side and not drop down. I bet there are loads of dickheads on Youtube who managed it and did so in about a minute.

So, this is a bit good, isn't it? I haven't really progressed very far, story wise, I got to Kakariko Village and talked to the old dear there, but after that I've just spent hours roaming around, climbing towers, competing shrines and generally dicking about. Which has been great fun.

My only minor gripe is the weapons breaking all the time. Although I have started to find slightly sturdier ones now, and I'm also putting more thought into which ones to use against certain types of enemies. But it's still a bit of a ball ache constantly switching. I wish there was some way I could get him to auto-draw his next weapon when one breaks in combat but I don't think there is, unless I'm missing it?

Not that I've found.

I've tried to be a bit more cautious so I can use sneakstrike.

Alex

I only discovered sneakstrike last night, it's an absolute beast of a move.

I've developed a healthy dislike for those fuckers that pop out of the water (and also sometimes the ground I think) and spit rocks at me. They can fuck off. I've just taken to running away from them.

Yeah, they're mega cunts.

I also think that having bow hunting skills would help and not just with the ladies.

:D

I am also pretty shit with the bow, if any sort of medium to long distance is involved then forget it. I also recently acquired a boomerang but I haven't used it yet.

I pissed about with one for a bit but ended up just using it as a melee weapon.

The fight I had against the enemy in the second post is really shit btw, as you can only use a bow and he moves. It's fairly slow and he stops at the end but being so shit with a bow it's a real pain.

I've had to take down 2 so far.

Just did my first big thing (dungeon-esque I guess).

Divine Beast Vah Ruta, well just the start so far.

Water/Dolphin

I had gotten 3 extra hearts from sleeping at a water bed but lost them all gliding down from the mountain with shock arrows :moop:

I then killed myself on first attempt as I glided down after a shock arrow hit (it's fucking water you mong) and having no stamina so drowned.

I expected a little more but I guess that's to come in the actual dungeon.

You're going to have to say which one it is. No ones remembering the nonsense names.

There's one that I'd recommend doing late game, not because it's hard but the opposite where it makes the rest of the game a bit too easy.

Got donned by the boss in the dungeon the first time round so I sold a shit load of elixirs, bought 35 bomb arrows and donned the prick.

After much wandering around (not a bad thing, I think I've only got a couple more towers to climb and I've made good progress with the shrines) I'm on with the story a bit now. I think. I've retrieved three memories and met the Zora Prince (who's a bit of a lad) and now need to go to their capital city place so I can save them all apparently. Proper hero stuff, basically.

I haven't really heard the proper Zelda music yet though. I hope that comes on at some point. I assume it will, because it played the old school fairy fountain music when I found one of those. Surely its not just me who thinks that the fairy at that first fountain looks a bit like she belongs in weird, animated Japanese porn though? :D

I need to mooch about some more, I've not done that many towers or shrines because I've not come across that many. I've been going in with the story when I play the game.

I can definitely see that btw. The Japs were (and still are) lapping it up.

Don't progress the story too far, you can finish it in like ten hours.

Alex

Good to know, DS. I'll keep that in mind. I don't want to accidentally smash through the full thing too quickly. Even though I tell myself I'll go back and do all the side quests, I rarely do once I've finished the main story.

I don't play much and I will deviate a lot as I can't help but think I'm missing out on loot.

I was a thorn in the Third Hard's L4D2s plays as I kept lagging behind just in case.

Been spending some time on this now. Started well, then I fell into a bit of a slum where I didn't really know what to do and kept getting killed by everything because I only had shit weapons. Now I have some decent weapons so I am starting to make some sort of progress. I think I'll head to look for those four beasts now.

Pepe

Three beasts down. I like the idea of open-world games in principle, but I always end up getting bored fairly quickly. Skyrim for example, I found to be a total bore. Fallout was better but even that one eventually bored me. Not Zelda though, this one I am enjoying a lot.

Yeah I think it's a Nintendo design thing, I noticed it after Super Mario Odyssey with the moons.

They give you lots of mini shots of dopamine (whether that's through shrines or moons) that help you achieve your larger goal of saving the princess but aren't obligatory so you don't have to bash your head against something if you don't want to.

By making most of their game optional they actually make you want to spend more time with it.

I finished the main story last night. Obviously a lot of things still to do, but I think I will give it a rest for a while. It is a really good game, even if the story is a bit shit.

The 'Story' is definitely it's worst part. I did the thing of taking photos everywhere to get the 'true ending' and it's so pointless.

That's the one thing I was thinking of going back and doing. I only have like three left so might as well. Otherwise I guess I'll just go around killing all the things I previously just ran away from.
