I half do, but I usually look around forums a bit at the start (read: after getting the sack on my first save) to see a bit what works and what doesn't, and making what usually is some sort of tweaked copy of a successful tactic.

I did that this year as well, but then I ended up going with the one tactic I had completely made myself and it really seems to work.

Of course, my latest game was a 6-0 loss to City, but up until then it had worked :uhoh:

Every year I seem to make tactics that work well a lot of the time but when they don’t work, it goes VERY wrong.

Like on my Liverpool save we looked amazing then got thumped like 5-0.

I like the idea of scouts being defined by binoculars, as if they're all peeping toms perving on reserve team players.

Similarly the magnifying glass that is definitely required to look down a list of names.

Only way I've been able to play the last 3 or 4 versions. The match engine and commentary have no bearing on what's actually happening anyway, it's just a load of cobbled together preset stuff.

Instant Result on the last one was so broken. I'd win every game 9-0 and then you'd do a normal game and get tonked 3-1.

Yeah the part of the game I find enjoyable is the actual management side with the transfers, tactics and lineups, youth development etc. I have literally no interest in what the match engine, which hasn't been improved for at least a decade, blurts out and it's a total slog to go through all the games.

If they took away all 2D and 3D options but just gave me a proper stats printout at the end (say, noting where the goals came from and what sort of move it was along with the overall game stats which they have already) I'd be a happy man.

Is that what the 'next match' 'last match' thing means? I thought it was a bug and just picked last match all the time.

That said I never did the meeting and handed it to the assistant as it's massively over complicated.

I've been playing with the assistant doing everything for many versions now. Even training is largely his unless he fucks it up. Things like press conferences, team talks and such I have long since abandoned.

I think what I really want to play is Director of Football 2018. None of this downstairs tracksuit bullshit. They should probably have added a nuts and bolts DoF mode by now.

I let Steve Bould do my training. After a while I looked at it, and noticed we'd been doing 75% Defensive training, 2% Attacking and 0% Ball Control - in the last Year.

Most of what they fuck up each version at least has a way of handing it to a staff member, which gives them a pass for most stuff. The big outlier in 2018 is scouting though. You can't seem to really delegate it (and wouldn't want to, squad building is the main part of the game probably), but they have made it an absolute mess now that needs far too much time to make any sense of.

Because most of what I don’t bother with is because it doesn’t fucking work. Press conferences being a prime example. Asking the reigning Premier League champions how they feel about drawing Burnley, with a number of replies all based around you expecting to get thumped is ridiculous. They have tied the questions to your reputation and it just doesn’t fucking work if you do well with a smaller club.

Jimmy Floyd
06-12-2017, 07:00 PM
The reputation metric is bollocks, which is part of the problem.

Also the fixed player CA/PA thing that has been in the game for 20 years is bollocks. It's too easy to sort good from bad players, which is why they tried to introduce the ludicrous attribute masking thing ages ago to make it artificially delayed (I've been switching that off for 15 years). They need to revamp the entire player grading system and make it more fluid and changeable.

I took Bournemouth to the title in the first season (3 strikers is the most broken its ever been).

I had a 9 point lead over second and the press still asked me if I believed I could avoid relegation. Good shit.

It is, wonderkids now have a particular range they can hit, and they still may never hit that dependent on attitude.

Jimmy Floyd

That's been the same for yonks (hence 'potential' ability) but there are no such things as late developers, massive drop-offs for no particular reason, or people with shit 'stats' who do a great job on the pitch for years, as happens in real football. Spotting one of those would be one of the most satisfying bits of the game, if it were available.

I basically want them to move away from the fixation on 'Finishing 13' towards asking you to evaluate them on actual performances, but I dunno, maybe that's not arcadey enough for the majority of players.

What's the point though? The matches basically seem to be:

>goal required for Team B
>run preset goal sequence 74 for Team B

None of it is applicable at all to your setup or tactics. You'd still have stats anyway without having to watch that shite, which would be enough for what Jimmy means.

wullie
06-12-2017, 10:50 PM
I had a 4-3-3 which walked all over League 2 and 1 but as soon as I hit the Championship it stopped working. Either there was an update to the game that broke it or I've just kept the majority of the players I started with in the bottom division and it's hitting me hard. Luckily I've been taken over by a guy who was on the board already and I've gone from having no money to having no money, plus I forgot to disable Brexit so it all points to an outstanding few seasons ahead.

Jimmy Floyd

Not if they give me a decent array of stats or text commentary lines for the key moments - i.e. things that have actually happened rather than a number between 1 and 20. You can then combine that with scout/coach reports (I like the star system) to judge a player's current and future output.

I don't want to play Football Scout 2018 going to a windswept Boundary Park in disguise to see if I like someone's gait on the dreadfully animated 3D.

I mused about a game where player stats were far more susceptible to outside forces on the old old board. Ideally they'd be completely hidden and would have to be inferred from other things, but even a mechanism where they could rocket up or down if the player moved clubs or whatever would be excellent.

As I remember it was inspired by Diego Forlan suddenly becoming Superman when he signed for Villareal.

Jimmy Floyd
06-12-2017, 11:02 PM
There are countless examples. Think Drogba, who at 24 was scoring 5 goals in Ligue 2. By 30 he was world class. An FM game would never have something like that happen at those ages, sure there are small variations but in general, either someone is the bollocks from teenage years or they're not.

Luca Toni, Jamie Vardy, etc etc.

Similarly the Torres Collapse wouldn't happen on FM except for monstrous injury.

Getting into this now, I prefer it to last year's edition.

At work so haven't got screenshots, but led Watford to 5th in the first season.

Now halfway through pre-season and we've brought in Barreca from Torino, Mario from Villereal, Wilshere on a free transfer and Wallace from Lazio.

Andre Grey netted 29 times last year and we don't really need any reinforcements up front. We play a 4-2-3-1 formation with wingers and an attacking central midfielder.

I need Gomes replacement as he's retiring at the end of the season, then I'm ready to go.

Second season of the Championship I was hovering around eighth but leaking cash while I was linked with TOP TOP TOP CLUBS JEFF so I quit, went on holiday and applied for top division clubs. Thought I was going to end up in a team rock bottom of the SPL until West Ham sacked Bilic while in the top half. Took over, held that position then started overhauling a bit of a creaky old squad. Currently started well and would be top after five games were it not for an away defeat at Sheffield Wednesday

Took on Hamilton in March 2018, who were sat second bottom in the SPL. After sending scouts out to watch every young free agent I could find, I turned up a couple of stinkers but four or five of them have worked out in 18/19, and I'm about to finish 4th.

My young Spanish left back left for Man Utd in January for 2.3m plus 40% profit from his next transfer, and a friendly, and I managed to get him loaned back until the end of the season, and subsequently to extend to the end of NEXT season. Another youngster who I signed and had played aplenty whilst looking a bit limited, a Scottish striker called David Dunn, was sold to Stoke for £1.3m plus 45% of the profit of his next move. That money has been reinvested largely into facilites, with the board approving youth and training upgrades.

I'll sort a proper update with screenies in the new year as I'm getting quite into this now.

I've never understood that feature. A classic example of the bizarre desire for realism trumping what is actually fun to play. If you're the manager you should be able to reject bids, or the game might as well be called Football Interim First Team Coach Until The End Of The Season 2018.

Make the rules of football and the competition rules realistic, then give the player absolute freedom to create in every other respect.

I tried to sign Zivkovic at the start of the season (who has just gone to Barca in January) but shouldn't get him, so bought Gelson Martins instead.

Dunno how good Zivkovic would have been, but Martins is insane. One of those players who plays way above their technical stats. Absolute assist machine.

Replace him with Donnarumma if you can get him cheapish? (doubtful)

Won manager of the month in my first month in Sweden.

I did consider it but I don't think Donnarumma is actually as good and I have a very young regen goalkeeper who isn't ready for the first team yet but who I would like to bring through in the future. I could use the money to replace Lukaku with Griezmann or Dybala or someone but he scored 56 in 58 for me last season so not sure I want to even if they are 'better'. Also have a young regen striker I'd like to bring through as his replacement.

Think I'll just stick with what I've got.

EDIT:

This is my team at the moment, there's nobody I really want to replace.

Proper addicted to this. Spent all day doing pre-season ready for my first season in the Premier League with Fulham after winning the play-offs in the first season.

Lys Mousset on loan from Bournemouth almost single-handedly got me promoted.

Only chose Fulham for Matt O'Riley and Ryan Sessegnon. I've had to promise the latter I'll sell him but I'e no intention of doing so not sure what'll happen when the transfer window closes and he's still here. I've bought well (despite being short in a few positions, mainly not having any secondary wingbacks) and can't wait to go again in the big league. Spent £50m. Will post screenshots next time I get chance.

That team is bonkers.

I am midway through my second season with Crewe. We won the 4th tier at the first attempt and sit in the playoffs mid way through the second season.

The board sold my hottest youth prospect (regen) to Bournemouth for 1.7m the bastards. Fuck knows if he will actually be good but considering they spend that much on him I imagine so.

The transfer window has closed and I'm all set to start my second season - Fulham's first one back in the Premier League since 2014. A lot of wheeling and dealing has gone on:

https://i.imgur.com/1fbmvNy.png

Florinel Coman (https://imgur.com/V0eSOjr) seems a bit of a bargain for £5m. I play 5-2-3 with the three strikers as one advanced forward (goals!) and two deep lying forwards (assists!) and ideally he'd play as one of the DLF and Paulinho (https://imgur.com/wEn64be) would play AF. However, the latter didn't get a work permit (I decided to sign him anyway cos £4m seemed too good to pass up) so he's gone on loan to Denmark for two years, with the hope he'll score tons and get Brazil caps and qualify for a work permit. I'll honestly be surprised if I ever see him play a game in a Fulham shirt.

Another player I signed despite not having a work permit is goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic (https://imgur.com/OMqPybW). My scouts rated him as 100 so for £4.2m I was definitely gonna bring him in. I was hoping to get in Guillermo Ochoa to play while super-100 keeper was out on loan in Italy, but I couldn't raise enough funds on deadline day so I've ended up with Adam Federici (https://imgur.com/O4RKRg3) as my sub and I'll be playing Marcus Bettinelli (https://imgur.com/aiidtR9) for another season and hoping the new defensive three in-front of him do their job and keep us up this season.

I've actually bought three and loaned one: Jason Denayer (https://imgur.com/jEzbidx) came in on loan from Man City, as per my new Director of Football Gianluca Nani's suggestion, and I've bought Lewis Dunk (https://imgur.com/OPyBvzZ), Denis Vavro (https://imgur.com/p8rOuMC) and Lautaro Giannetti (https://imgur.com/qeTHN3H). I've never heard of the latter two but my scouts and coaches seem keen on them, so fingers crossed.

My biggest signing was another play rated 100, Lucas Torreira (https://imgur.com/cll1DCA). £25m on one player was pretty risk, but I needed a ball winning central midfielder, and my scouts honestly couldn't stop wanking over him. It took a long time to get him to agree to discuss terms, so I'm really hoping he was worth all the effort. The negotiations were super tense though, because he asked for nothinig and I had to smash out a deal from scratch. Thankfully it went green one the second attempt and Fulham had a new record signing.

My director of football also signed (I get final say, he just makes offers) Patrick Cutrone (https://imgur.com/0Ww65bx) and Facundo Colidio (https://imgur.com/Huj0r7f) on loan. The former will probably play as my advanced forward, and the latter will come off the bench when needed. Calvert-Lewin (https://imgur.com/uDbu0Eq) and Isaac Hayden (https://imgur.com/iy8YIZv) are also just for the bench, really.

Oh, last season I had van der Vaart and he was pretty rubbish. He retired at the end of the season so I took him on as a coach and asked him to recommend a signing. He said I should buy Nicolas Dyhr (https://imgur.com/9FTWSQl), so I did. I'm training him to be a deep lying forward. Come on Rafa, don't let me down again.

Here's my team:

Has anyone any experience with those players?

What a season for Fulham. Back into the top league via a Playoffs victory and predicted to come 20th by the media. Well I proved them wrong and we finished 6th (https://i.imgur.com/yp1F0uP.png)! Not only that but we also won the FA Cup (https://i.imgur.com/ny6E9zV.png). Made even better as the final was against Middlesbrough who won the Championship last season and got relegated this season, har har.

I was propelled forward by two of my summer signings, Florinel Coman (https://i.imgur.com/2AVPlpX.png) and Paulinho (https://i.imgur.com/EZlWhIv.png). The latter got a work permit in January, after tearing it up in Denmark for half a season, so I recalled him and he went absolutely mental in front of goal, scoring 24 goals in 16 games (https://i.imgur.com/oF0GZnk.png). He also came third in the golden boot despite only playing four months of the season. He could post some Ronaldo numbers next season, if I'm lucky.

Another player who was out on loan to get a work permit was my goalkeeper, Rajkovic. He was playing every week at Napoli and, like Paulinho, was granted a work permit in January and recalled to Fulham. However he was "ineligible to play for more than two teams in one season" so spent the remainder of the season keeping goal for my U23 and U18 team, whoops. So I loaned in Rafael (https://i.imgur.com/c45ky3r.png) and sorta rotated between him and Bettinelli, who is now worth £14m, somehow, so I may try to cash in on him in the summer.

Other than that, I'm currently studying for my Continental C License (I started from the bottom) and we've set up an affiliation with Australian side Perth Glory to make some dollar, so I'll hopefully tour there in pre-season and sell some Jackson Irvine shirts. Transfer-wise I've got yet another goalkeeper, Juliano (https://i.imgur.com/NSJc7O0.png), coming in (and he got a work permit so no faffing this time) along with Joaquin Rikemberg (https://i.imgur.com/YrmFaei.png), who can hopefully be trained as a deep lying forward to join forces with Coman and Paulinho. Frightening front three, even if I do say so myself! Oh and in January I bought a right wingback who is very raw, but hopefully a long-term replacement for Debuchy, called Robson Zabotto (https://i.imgur.com/gbJ1VZi.png) but he didn't get a work permit yet.

I've also signed Martin Hanson (https://i.imgur.com/xZjhnYV.png) from Birmingham for £575k because his determination is 20, and made use of my affiliation with Leyton Orient to bring in Mike Griffiths (https://i.imgur.com/DN0xuy4.png) for £100k, who doesn't look like anything special but has been seriously tearing it up as a box to box midfielder for the U23 team. I doubt he'll ever take my boy Matt O'Riley (https://i.imgur.com/YMcFNxM.png)'s place in the team though, considering I only chose Fulham for him and Ryan Sessegnon (https://i.imgur.com/caviYjn.png). Blimey, didn't realise he's worth £31m now. Crazy! Mbappe is worth £98m (https://i.imgur.com/cxbzhon.png) lol.

Here's my team (https://i.imgur.com/K123kfl.png). Oh and I'm also the Turkey manager. :cab:

I'm actually into this now. Only way I could think of getting some fun out of it was getting the level 10 mod and starting with the mighty Rugby Town (they start 2 divisions below conf north/south), because obviously everyone is so rubbish it's really easy to build a side, and you don't need to worry about training and stuff.

Justifying having ridiculously overpowered manager stats by getting all role-playing about it:

Three at the back with wbs and three up top (either strikes or AMs) is this game's broken one. There's a Chinese tactic going about that took me to unbeaten in about 80 games with the starting United squad.

As ever wingers/inside forwards are generally useless.

I spent the first couple of months scouting all of the 16 and 17 year old free agents I could find after searching a, b, c, d etc in the player search. The good old, select loads, get scout report unearthed a few shite ones who've since fallen by the wayside, but also several gems and I've rinsed and repeated each year since. From the first batch, most of whom debuted in 18/19 (and several of which remained on trial until late on that season due to U18 transfer law bollocks), a few stick out:

David Dunn, Scottish striker (b. 2002), joined Stoke City for £1.6m in summer of 2019. Currently on loan at Dunfermline after returning to us on loan last term but not making much of an impact. Nonetheless looks a good prospect.

Joe Richardson, Scottish winger (b. 2001) Still with us, and attracting firm bids of £20m+ from OM and Bayern Munich amongst others. A Scotland regular, who knows he's too good for Lanarkshire and with a £25m release clause, sure to leave by next summer. Destroyer of defences in Scotland and my biggest hope in European ties, where he's had a more than reasonable impact.
http://oi68.tinypic.com/svm2ps.jpg

Scott Gallagher, Scottish midfielder (b. 2001) Technical midfielder who is excelling as a box to box player after being an ok attacking midfield option.
http://oi67.tinypic.com/xm5312.jpg

Gerardo, Spanish left back (b. 2002) Quickly established himself as no. 1 left back in 2018/19 and secured a move to Manchester United for £2.3m + 40% profit on his next sale by the January of that season. A loan back until the end of the season kept him in the team, and since then he's played 4 league games for United and a further 35 top flight games last season on loan at Watford. Rated at £25.5m, likely to add more to the coffers should he move on again.

Marcos Gerardo, Spanish centre back (b. 2002) Strong and quick, but hasn't yet established himself as first choice in defence. He's joined Levante on loan for the season in the Spanish top flight and is improving still, whilst being ever present for them so far.

Mustafa Kurt, French winger (b. 2002) The cream of the crop, had two and a half wonderful seasons with us before heading to Man Utd in January 2021 for £23m plus add ons (£4m) & 40% profit. Played 4 league games for United, and now is on loan at Roma where he's holding down his place. Two caps for France at the age of eighteen has me praying for a £60m+ move to PSG.

Club improvements
Stadium - we're expanding. So we're sharing with Kilmarnock for now in a Stadium which dwarves our own at c. 18,000.
Training & Youth - Both improved twice now, and producing results.
http://oi65.tinypic.com/1625s36.jpg

This season so far (November 2021)

The squad remains very young. Gallagher, along with Scott Guest (signed from Hibs 2020, 18) and Gardner Neil (from youth, 18) are lynchpins of the midfield. Belgian Mathieu Marchal (17) inexplicably came through my youth side and is probably my best attacking midfielder, or at least the most injury free with Jamie Walker spending half his career on the treatment table. Two players returned from loans they'd been on whilst awaiting work permits - 20 year old Brazilian striker Vainer Tavella and Aussie winger Josh Coggan, who will succeed Joe Richardson when the inevitable occurs. 18 year old Craig Cooper, signed for pennies from Dundee Utd last season is establishing himself up front. At the back, there's experience, with four Scottish internationals competing for the centre half sports - Harry Souttar, Paul Hanlon, Michael Devlin and Scott McKenna, and Jack Grimmer as my most consistent player from right-back. Scott Bain in goals is yet another Scotland cap.

We're second in the league, chasing back to back titles, and have made a good start in Europe, following up making the knockout stages in last years Europa League with a win, draw and loss in our first three group games in the Champs League.

Got offered the Scotland job after Czaba Laszlo failed to get them to World Cup (2022). I'll be continuing dual-roled with Hamilton until the season end, with only one international before then, and then resigning my club post to concentrate on making it to the Euros in 2024.

We made it out of the CL group, beating Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the final game. Bayer Leverkusen await us in the knockouts, which could be worse.

Unfortunately, Werder Bremen activated Joe Richardsons £25m release clause, so my star man is gone. I've got a £50m transfer budget, but only £150,000 for wages and no one interested worth spending it on.

After just missing out on a playoff spot last year, Southend are currently sitting top of the Championship, unbeaten, at the end of January.

The only downside is that I signed Jamie Hanson to replace the ageing Anton Ferdinand, but he can’t actually play this season as “the player cannot play for more than 2 teams in a season”. Thanks for loaning him to Blackburn, Derby, you shower. He can play in both defence and midfield so he would have been really bloody helpful right now.

Well I've made it through another season on my Fulham save. It was touch and go in December when the Liverpool job came up and the press were going bananas (https://i.imgur.com/8CxVUnt.png) over whether I'd take the job. I interviewed and got turned down because I asked for more transfer budget. Ah well, viva la Fulham!

Then in January, something bad happened. Dortmund activated Paulinho's £75m release clause (https://i.imgur.com/qwUbsmc.png) and off he went, bagging me a £71m profit in the process.

Before selling him, I'd already raised quite a bit of money in the summer from selling Mings (£8m), Bettinelli (£15m), Rossi (£2.5m), Dunk (£15.5m) and Ream (£3m) for nearly £45m.

But I'd also spent quite a lot, bringing in the following:
Juliano (https://i.imgur.com/4viBZFe.png) £4.5m
Joaquin Rikemberg (https://i.imgur.com/9zvRG41.png) £3.5m
Chris Smalling (https://i.imgur.com/6SavXE5.png) £13.75m
Caglar Soyuncu (https://i.imgur.com/oxfXkk6.png) £16.25m
Christian Pulisic (https://i.imgur.com/qBtkVrk.png) £16.5m
Thomas Meunier (https://i.imgur.com/Z8goPgO.png) £10m
William Benavides (https://i.imgur.com/6jR7boA.png) £475k
Rossaldo (https://i.imgur.com/CxG3PVH.png) £10m

Then when the big money came in just in time for the January transfer window, in came the following:
Walter Troncosco (https://i.imgur.com/Ufjc49O.png) £5m
Andres Rezzonico (https://i.imgur.com/Mj64zM4.png) £4m
Julian Draxler (https://i.imgur.com/3llXNmo.png) £26m
Ernesto Gonzalez (https://i.imgur.com/HQKdUNp.png) £5.5m

Rossaldo (nicknamed by me) was one of the most highly recommended players my scouts have ever found, and he's proving to be a hit so far - when he's not injured, anyway. But then came 100 rated "sign him whatever the price" Ernesto Gonzalez. And when I found out he had a £5.5m release clause, he was on a plane to Fulham before the scout had even finished wanking over him.

One problem I do have is I play three strikers (two deep lying forwards and one advanced forward) yet have signed players like Pulisic and Draxler purely because they seemed like a bargain, even though they're wingers or attacking midfielders and simply can't play up top. I've started re-training them the position but they'll never be as good as proper strikers.

Another problem I have (and not purely because of Brexit) is work permits, or more specifically signing players without them. I've already got six players out on loan with a view to get a work permit (I still don't have a work permit feeder club so am relying on them playing lots of club games, getting called up to their international team and subsequently getting a work permit) and have another eight players arriving in the summer, and I've lost track of who did and who didn't get a work permit. These are the new arrivals:

Hideo Chiba (https://i.imgur.com/rNARW62.png) £1.4m
Sasa Petranovic (https://i.imgur.com/ZkXr7ak.png) £375k
Hamad Mohammed Ahmed (https://i.imgur.com/D2gP4F2.png) FREE
Wilson Dionisio (https://i.imgur.com/McIG1yY.png) FREE
Lars Auernhammer (https://i.imgur.com/NATxqYB.png) £900k
Marcio Roberto (https://i.imgur.com/nv32oQm.png) £30k
Rosario Sperandeo (https://i.imgur.com/ndNCojd.png) £15m
Rodrigo Banobre (https://i.imgur.com/DU7NBw9.png) £750k

I'm sure I've never posted screenshots of some of my other non-WP regens, but ehh they're not important yet. I've collected an American, a Japanese player, someone from UAE, and loads of South Americans. Hopefully I can get an American feeder club next because the regen combined with Pulisic should result in some decent merchandise money. We'll see though, every time I try to choose my own affiliate it fails, so next time I'll probably leave it upto my chairman.

Here's how they all performed in all competitions:

https://i.imgur.com/gJgwl27.png

We managed to make it to the Europa League final, which resulted in a penalty shootout against Arsenal. Thankfully we held our nerve (https://i.imgur.com/ybW3yeV.png) and into the Champions League we sailed.

Although really, we were already there after finishing 4th in the league (https://i.imgur.com/N4QNlrf.png), which looked very touch-and-go after the sale of star player Paulinho (https://i.imgur.com/rgp67rT.png).

Next up is the Euros with Turkey and then getting ready for our fourth season, and also my first pop at the Champions League. Wish me luck!

They spent a while trying to lob £100m at me for De Gea, but after giving up they still weren't happy with their two current keepers (Kevin Trapp valued at £31.5m and Alphonse Areola valued at £37m) so they went out and spent £8.5m on Mathew Ryan from Lokomotiv Moscow who now appears to be first choice :cab:

Quick question, what's your take on multiple first teamers being loans?I am being priced out or flatly rejected by smaller teams for sensible bids i make and i am forced to loan players to fill my roster.I am in Lazio after 3 years and even though i have loaned Djibril Sidibe,Javi Martinez,Gabriel Barbosa and Krychowiak to name a few,i still need to get players when the season finishes.I know this probably doesn't bode well for the future but what's your opinion since the the player values are exorbitant?

This is the point I've left West Ham. Load of big cheeses after me with Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool offering me the job, but I was listed as favourite to take over an Inter team who are only second behind Juve on goal difference, so I'm off to Italy. That's a spicy meataballa.

Worst part is that the CPU either completely ignores the rules or is too stupid to process them, as the Europa League squad is six Italian players short of the minimum with only three replacements allowed, so I have to submit a 21-man squad to get around it.

Had to change it a little as I got a couple of crash dumps so it's fewer leagues/countries.

I am now the proud manager of Montserrat Volcano Observatory Tremors.

Predicted to finish 4th in the 6 team league which is dominated by the Royal Montserrat Police Force who have won 6 of the 8 titles (it's been going since 1974 but a volcano has caused a lot of disruption). It's only a 4 month league (September-December) with 10 games so it's pretty slow paced.

We have no rivals but I'd like to unofficially declare the Seven Day Adventists and the Secondary School our rivals.

One of our strikers only has 5 finishing so that will be fun.

Stadium has a capacity of 1000 apparently so sadly we wont be able to accommodate the whole of the 6000 or so living on the island. Here is the stadium:

Full name of the club is Young Men's Christian Academic Futebol Clube and I just couldn't say no.

We're in the East Timorese Football League Second Division Group A which is an incredible catchy name and we're predicted to finish second.

Here is our best player:

There is £35k in the bank with a £17 wage budget of which we're using £13.

Sir Andy Mahowry: How do you find the reputation thing this version? Last version I went with the lowest possible options and still found that I got unrealistic offers quite often. Is it still the same?

Loving it Mahow. How many matches in a season with the new club?

Mike - you promoted?...or not.

Too early to tell (I found last year it took about 3 or 4 jobs and then the jump was huge) but right now I've only been getting offers for interviews from half star teams and a few one star teams.

Mike - you promoted?...or not.

12 games, the winner of the two groups are promoted but they also then play in a 'GRAND FINAL' to determine who the ultimate champion is.

Not happy with that away goal, came late on and mostly as my left back had gone off injured so the right back was filling in for him.

Flippin eck. Turns out only having one left back and one good right back isn't going to lead to glory.

3 league games in and I already have backups moaning about not starting enough.

It's nice to know that some things just don't change.

My favourite thing in the previous version was rotation players moaning about not starting enough while starting half the games and featuring as subs in even more.

This league is annoying as fuck.

12 games running from March to fucking September. June is the only month that no one plays as well so it's not like there is a huge period off.

Also my team hates me because of my lack of reputation, the wankers.

Started my own Jman game although nothing as extreme as Mahow's. I loaded all the European leagues (no customs):

Went on holiday until mid-November and then started applying for jobs. I got various interview offers as well as proper job offers and decided to go for:

That's Soroksár SC from Hungary's second tier. That's how the league looks at the time I took over:

It's going to be an uphill battle, but the club is definitely underperforming so I think we can turn it around.

I’ve made some big changes as it was an older squad.

I’ve decided not going up is for the best as we’d come back down. Hopefully we go up as champions this year :cool2:

10 games later, in which we earned a grand total of 6 points and I'm starting to reevaluate my position. :rosebud:

Edit: And I got sacked due to losing the support of the players (even though we had started to turn it around a bit). What a nice little feature that is!

I see SI still haven't figured out how "Interfering with play" works in the offside rule.

Chairman also resigned a day after the initial news item came in.

Edit: A day later...

They don't fuck about in East Timor (despite having 50 odd days between matches in some cases), they came in on Sunday 19th and had it all completed on the 22nd.
