I've been watching lots of bird videos recently and I've decided I want one as a pet when I get settled in. We have fuckers like the cockatoo:

Or this guy:

From what I've read these guys need oodles of attention otherwise their brain will melt and they'll pick all the feathers off their body. I can't give them that kind of time, so I'm probably going to start lighter. Parakeets are doable;

They're a million times smarter than dogs (which are nice and basically attuned to human needs but also mostly retarded) at way less the effort and price. Seems like a catch tbh

Anyone here have a bird? First person to make a joke relating the animal bird to the slang for woman dies.

Used to have budgies as a kid, the cool one flew away as soon as it got the chance and then the replacement just sat there doing nothing all day. Rather than it obviously having physical issues I thought it was just a lazy bastard so would encourage it to fly in what looking back was just me throwing a budgie at a wall repeatedly.

When my dad was working in Pakistan a guy he worked with decided I needed a pet for when I went out to visit and bought a green parakeet. Which was fine, other than the fact that it used to try and bite chunks out of anybody who wasn't me after I came back home.

At Uni I lived in a flat above a couple with a parrot for a while. I don't recall if it was after it started imitating the house phone or passing motorbikes, but I've hated the cunts ever since.

That man looks deeply unhappy with his life. He also sort of looks like the raven.

I'm trying to think of a pet that would be more hipster than a raven.

Anyway, Parakeet is the way forward. Quieter, not annoyingly big, eat smaller pieces of your finger/ear etc.
