Good start to the season - 2 coach loads of Swindon fans were told at 4am (via a Facebook group) that their coach to Carlisle (due to leave at 6) was cancelled. No reason given. They'll get their money back but a poor start for the pub organising as this was their first trip.

Football is back

On the train up from London, beer in hand, off to Molineux for a sellout opener against Middlesbrough. Should be good.

I'm playing cricket today at a ground on almost the same plot of land where Sutton v Leyton Orient is being broadcast LIVE on BT Sport. Should be absolute pandemonium, and not a pie in sight.

Does this mean the real stuff starts next weekend?

It started last night, mate. We looked okay I think. McGeady, Cattermole and Grabban seemed to stand out watching on my phone on a dodgy wifi in a Blackpool hotel.

I'm going mid-week to Bury and then next Sunday to Norwich.

Actually, seeing as I've decided I follow Preston now I'm inclined to agree with that. Who shows championship games?

Jimmy Floyd

Sky, although their match selection is horrendous. You'll see Leeds and Villa 20 times each.

I could definitely do without that in my life.

There'll be a big hole in their schedule now that they can't take their fortnightly trip to Brighton.

Surprised by the mackem's point but they're on the board. Best of luck to them.

It felt better to be in a game we can compete in, after last season's debacle.

On the train to Sheffield to watch THE MIGHTY BLADES play Brentford. Gonna head to the second hand bookshop, then the chippy and then drop in The Railway for a quick pint before settling in my seat.

LET'S FUCKING 'AVE THESE CHAMPIONSHIP CUNTS

Villa should really be getting promoted this year with the squad we've put together, so it's a shame we'll be on TV every week as we have no fucking idea how to win on Sky.

Be interesting to see how Bruce lines up now Grealish is out for 3 months (was looking likely to play as the 10), Kodjia still out from last season and no Jedinak.

Johnstone
Hutton
Chester
Terry
Taylor
Whelan
Lansbury
Elmohamady
Hourihane
Green
Hogan

That's what I'd like to see.

You used to always say you wanted to get relegated so you could have a clear out and enjoy football again, Mel. Has it worked out that way? Or was last season just the same old?

Mellberg

I've enjoyed it. Majority of the wankers are gone and I actually quite like the majority of our players for the first time in about 5 years. Still a few wankers left on big contracts (Micah Richards especially). Prefer it to the Prem, but the problem with this division is to have a good season means leaving the league, but we're definitely due a good year, so I'd be happy to back in the Prem next August if that's how it works out.

The name, the badge, the 'Joe Fagan Commemorative Trophy'. Was it all created by some more advanced version of me to subtly mock them?

John

I missed the '96' on the badge initially. Definitely was.

The rest of the badge looks like concept art from the Soviet disc in Red Alert 2.

Both sides look sloppy but on the odd occasion they put two or three passes together they both look very dangerous.

The thing everyone should be lolling at is the twonk on the touchline wearing a suit with Puma trainers.

Bayern have been real sloppy pre season and it showed in places tonight.

About penalties. You really are at a disadvantage if you go second. I think someone stated on here (insert your name for credit here) that team A, should go first. Team B go second, team b should go third, team a go fourth and fifty, etc.

It would elimate the luck based coin toss.

I haven't got this on the telly as I don't have the channel, but in my mind's eye Vicmo has just emerged in behind down the right, breaking the flimsiest offside trap of all time, and then fired it straight through the goalkeeper (might he have done better?) into the far corner.
