Do you think you've benefited from being an independent country and in what way? Straight question, just curious.

Because of the way things were under the occupation at the time, and the way it would have continued. We're no better off than modern Britain is now, in some ways worse off (the Church influence being a big one), but we wouldn't have been brought along with modern Britain under rule. The country was just a toy.

Just look at Northern Ireland now. It's basically the 1980's there still in an awful lot of ways.

Things like this never stop at just allowing people to express their own identities though. It's destined to go way beyond that line.

Can you give some examples of where that's happened?

First the gays got married and now paedophilia is legal.

So long as the children identify as adults I don't see the problem.

What do we reckon the most ludicrous consequence of this is going to be? It would be interesting to see what happens if a bloke who isn't a bloke tried to join the priesthood - when the Catholics say "no, mate, because you're not a bloke" and it tries to sue, what then?

I think local dialects are an absolute joy and should be preserved as a matter of utmost priority.

Well, someone is going to have their cock/fanny turned inside out and a few months later realise that they're not actually a Gender Neutral Ford Mondeo regardless of what Tumblr tells them.

Not that any of their logic really makes sense, but doesn't altering - or even caring about - birth certificates undermine the entire 'social construct' argument?

I'm so out of the loop on this one so my views are nowhere near as fully formed as they'd be if I knew more about it, but I'm inclined to side with Germaine Greer's stance, and the right to choose your own sex immediately strikes me as a somewhat needless concept.

How do people not understand the fucking basic difference between sex and gender?

I could change my gender to 'Andy Townsend' now, but I'd need the op to change my sex.
