I like both. Dogs are cooler in the sense that there is more interaction: walking them, playing with them, teaching them tricks, etc. They also stink and need to be taught not to shit/piss all over the place. Cats are cool in that you don't really need to do much beyond feeding them and cleaning the litter box. Puppies are fun but also a total nightmare as they make a complete mess. Kittens are ace.

They love the ever-living fuck out of you in the nicest, sweetest way. They generally mind their own business and are not bothered by a single thing. You literally feed them, clean out their shit box, and they love you forever.

I had a cat (ginger tabby thing) and a dog (springer spaniel) when I was young, and the dog was much, much better. I think I may have had the most affectionate, dog-like cat ever, and even his idea of fun was to hide under the bed and claw at your feet the minute they hit the floor.
